I had thought about it actually but the thing costs a fortune for what it is. Honda is actually putting the semi auto system on a lot of their bikes in the future now giving bikers 2 choices much like car companies do.
Only other issue I have been getting recently is that my leg is now barely able to support my own weight... so throwing my leg over a bike is getting pretty tricky these days. Looks like I may be sticking to conventional scooters for a fair time :(
Nice looking scoot. If your leg still gives you problems after your surgery, you might think about getting a Burgman 400 or 650. I got the 650 and I put a folding cane in the top box or a tool pouch I mounted on the custom backrest I made.
At this rate it looks like I may have to bite the bullet further and ditch gears all together... never know though. I had looked at the Burg style of bikes but even just for a 400 it came out at like £2500 second hand... money I wont see for a while. I never thought of a folding cane. You would recommend a folding setup. Probably much easier than how I have had to go about things in the past lol :)
Don't you just wish all bikes and scooters came with a gnarly cane but I'm afraid it didn't. One of my manly collections of walking aids haha.
We did think about putting the bikes in the dining room... up until recently it was pretty much empty but to get through the front door its literally an L shape... in through the door you face a wall turn go in turn again haha... evil as hell... nowhere to really put the things... shame really.
Ah thats the ignition guard... there is like a press part at the bottom of the key hole which pushes a plastic cover over the ignition to stop people jamming things into it. The hole above where you stick the key is basicaly a twist lock to retract the cover. I figured it was pretty handy as it seems to put people off trying to steal it... or at least it has so far :p
I have an 07 Yamaha Cygnus old shape with 8,000 miles on. Daymn! Mine must be worth less than £700 now, thought it'd be worth at least £1,000 :-( Please tell me you had to bargain yours right down and there are loads of problems with this one???!?! Oil change is simple 0.9L of oil lol
Fraid not bro... 700 quid cash no questions asked... Ive seen 06 models go as low as 450 but I figured I would go updated model seeing as I couldnt get a maxter at the time. Im going to take it in for a full check up rather than do it meself I think... seeing as its MOT is due soon and Ive never pulled apart a scooter before :p
I will be sitting and watching mind... short of all the hidden stuff tucked away under panels it shouldnt be anything Ive not done before... I hope... Nuke engine maybe
So far none at all its running well enough but I always give my bikes a good once over once I have them in my care and they are due an MOT. Just peace of mind really. Seeing as Ive not really ridden it and its been in the care of somebody else for a fair time it would be nice just to make sure everything is ship shape kind of thing if ya get what I mean :P
From what I have been told these things are built really well so I think worst case would be new pads and an oil change
Well scooters are great for short journeys and are nice and cheap, only problem is labour costs when servicing due to all the plastic they need to take off to get to the blender motor lol. From new mine will have devalued £1300 in 3 years then which isn't that big of a hit really. Have fun with it :-)
plus one on the comment scooter maint if you dont due it your self is expensive. oil chnges in the states can run 30 to 40 bucks my advice is get yer hands dirty and do as much as you can yourself :)
Thats not to bad really compared to the same kind of job on some of my other past bikes. I mean on the odd occasion where I havent been well a ligtht service has cost up to 120 quid... quite a dent in my pocket. Self work obviously probably only cost about 30 for the lot. But just to be sure it would be nice to have a test center check it over fully after I have to be sure it meets all road safety requirements for its test in september :)
As long as a service costs less than 250 quid like my last Sports Bike service its all good. I wouldnt know where to start with the scooter... I can strip down all the other bikes we own at this house just not the scooter... its all weird placements and fragile plastic to me and work would have to be done there road side. deprecation is never an issue for me... will never sell something I buy :p I horde until I run it into the ground. Bet it will be a good little runner given proper care :)
Its not been to bad for the 15 miles I have ridden it... Though having an auto gear box is a bit of a learning experience for me as Ive only ever used gears... In comparison to my 125 bike... its easier to ride for a quick thrash around the city I guess like less to think about and do but I still like the bike more... I think... just seems more involved... clutch gears and all that. Love the storage mind... and even some of the panels... more places tyo stick a camera system than on the naked CG
If you can move the blue bin looking item on the garden (if it's possibile) Or put it upagainst the wall, scooter + Area... You know what i'm getting at mate lol
Not wide enough even with the bin out due to the door step... and a part of the wall that has fallen down. That and Im sure the rest of the wall will shortly follow suit haha...
we were going to put the CG or CB in there once but decided against it when it was being kicked over basically because if the bike got knocked over iun there it would take more damage than it would on the road and the wall is easy enough to push on the things anyway :( shitty area this is now :p
Nice pimp stick dude, The Yamaha is a cool scooter but they're pretty slow in the low range, i've ridden an old one of those but after you get going they're well cool! I love scooters :D You got rid of the CB? I might not do a walkaround, i'll do a RUNaround! lol
Quite like the stick but my god it hurts your hand after a while :D good times... reminds me I should suck it up and stop being such a cripple.
Nah still got the CG it was just parked a little bit down the road as I had just finished polishing every inch of the bastard minus the spokes. Would do with a chain adjustment since our adventures. Actually giving the Cyg a good twist its quicker off the line than Lab is and even quicker up to 50/60.
I was pretty surprised how peppy it is... You just have to be quite bold with it to get it off the line at any kind of decent speed. still it pulls well up to say a dual carriage way kind of speed... I took a CG 125 on a motorway :p with lab might I ad... I would think the cygnus could keep up ok... but I will have to wait and see to find out. Give it a quick once over and then take it out for a propper ride to gage it for comfort, speed, reliability and all that
@Skazzious Really? The one i rode must of been ragged around lol, It had hardly any kick from a stand still but after it got going, it went pretty quick lol
Mine was propper quick... Give it a half twist and it was like feathering the clutch on the cg or one of my bigger bikes even. Nice and peppy. Ive heard that a few poor services or rebuilds can really effect the off the line performance... like litterally a nut bolt or twist here and there can make a world of diff :)
I will post a vid of accel but I dont have a cam I can mount to the dash so people will haveto take my word for it. I wont be counting seconds but I can at least show the pull.
So ur thinking about getting another one already!? :-o
It'll be interesting hearing what a motorcyclist (who's never been into scooters) has to say now that u kinda have to use one. I'll look out for ur impressions in the vlogs as u go along.
Btw, since ur a gearhead - Do u plan to improve it's performance in any way or will it be kept strictly as a commuter until u can switch back to bikes?
Had a chat with the wife and figured I would prob get her one for herself rather than sharing this one seeing as we dont know how long its going to be for my leg to heal up after surgery this time round. May be best just to have 2 kind of thing :)
Would be a fun factor thing... The wife and I can go for rides then and she doesnt have to be bored sitting on the back.
As far as what I think of it so far... Lab as backup he will tell all I was shocked and very happy with it by the time I got it back home and that was only a quick 15 mile trip down some country roads... He was talking to me by Scala and was asking me all the way how it felt, how much throttle was I giving it and all that. He did mention I looked a bit shaky to start with but then I have to ride a good position and really get used to it... very different from what Im used to.
Performance mods... Hmm well As much as I say the brakes are good I would like a little more out of the front... Then again the back more than makes up for it when applied as norm 75 25 or even 50 50. Compared to my CG 125 braking wise the CG has no feeling really on back and the cyg is very sharp. I will probably keep the rest of it stock for now but seeing as I took the CG125 on a motorway I dont think the cygnus would have to much trubble either :) all in all so far a good little machine
how about the dn01 if you're not up to gears in the future?
it looks badass. its 6k for an 09 but it'll be lower when you want to upgrade.
nice scooter mate, great walkaround. check out my vids?

Did it come with the wicked pimp cane too? Hey at least you're sticking with 2 wheels man. Looking good.
Can't you fit that thing through the front door? Might be safer to keep it indoors.

Have to admit I like the Maxter more... but the Cygnus will do the trick. Somebody has already had a crack at stealing it.
So If I upload a video tomorrow showing an empty patch of road outside my house... you will understand why

scoooters are cool to bad that they are underrated one question what is the round key on your key for? very nice walkround

Ah the red one? thats for the top box which was an extra that came with the scooter but I will mention does effect the performance a bit :/

the round one above the ignition

But then that may have been done not long ago just the lass who last owned it was pretty scetchy on what was done on its last service.
Just to be safe.

It was this or the maxter... this was closer and there we no maxters about at the time which was a shame :( quite liked the look of those
