  • I remember seeing this on TV. I didn't even notice at the time that something like this wouldn't air normally. I just thought it was funny.

  • HOW DID THIS AIR?

  • im guessing he didnt get the job

  • I remember being a little kid and laughing my ass off at this.

  • I think he said that one too many times.

  • "What a Dumass!"

  • that looks to be from at least 1996/97, maybe '94/'95. am i right?

  • @MrWrestlefan91 I actually remember seeing it in the early 2000s, but maybe they just re-aired it then.

  • @MrWrestlefan91 I think it aired in 1999 -- at least, that's when I remember seeing it.

  • @YamiSatoshi i was like 4 when i saw it, and i remember laughing my ass off. so around 1999.

  • LMFAO XD

  • Reminds me of my first interview lol.

@theflamelord - super bowl many many years ago.

  • wierd

  • I remember this commercial! Funny thing though, I never remembered what it was for. Glad I managed to find this.

  • LMAO at his face at :18

  • "I'm a go-getter" GOD THIS COMMERCIAL IS THE SHIT. PWNED FCC.

  • tvtropes.org

  • Comment removed

  • This would be a fun story to tell his wife and kids.

  • Would have been funnier if Red foreman was the boss.

  • My name is DUM(AH)SS, and no, you're NOT my man.

Is this commercial epic or what?

  • lol when he says " Im a go getter"

  • Holy crap, Batman! How did they get that past the radar?! Even in the end he says it anyways. . .

  • So I take it he didn't get the job.

  • WOW!!! What a DUMASS!!!!!!!!!

  • LOL @ Jim Cummings as announcer.

  • My god how did this get past the radar? XD

  • @blackshade9, two ways:

    1) This commercial RARELY aired. The one that was more frequently used was the thick-headed husband.

    2) This was before the days when everyone bitched about every little thing on TV.

  • @ZhangtheGreat

No it wasn't. This was from the 2000s.

And anyway, there was never any era when "ass" could have been said in a TV ad without someone getting worried and pulling it. You're acting like there was some golden age of censorship-free TV advertising. But there wasn't.

  • @terracottapie, it's that recent? Hmm...

Rarely do you see non-filtered words appear on TV commercials though, even if they make it past censors.

  • @terracottapie That's true, the further back you go, the stricter the censorship, except for the movies of the 20s and early 30s, some of them pushed the envelope pretty far for their day.

  • i haven't seen this in over a decade!!!

  • Oh my God! I never saw that ending part before! Hillarious!

  • one of the best ads ever

  • LOL

  • lmao. look at the head shake at 0:02. He so confident.

  • 0.19

  • what a..dumass!

  • That dude is screwed.

  • Talk about getting crap past the radar.

  • @xRequiem666 Whew, at least I'm not the only one who came here from TvTropes.

  • Reminds me of Shawshank Redemtion. "COunt of monte cristo, by alexander Dumbass.

  • bahahaha best commercial ever!!! love it!!!

  • This was such an awesome commercial. lol

  • LMAO

  • ROFL! This commercial is really old but truly a classic

  • Great commercial!

  • I remember this commercial when i was young. Laughed my ass off! I still dont know how they didn't get in trouble for this commercial. :D

  • What the hell!!!!~

awesome MUST Copy It with camstdio

  • lol

  • and he then wrote "The Count of Monte Cristo"

  • i cant believe this got through the censors.

  • The guy being interviewed is Rich Talarico. He is one of the best improvisers to come out of Chicago. He was formerly a cast member on the Second City mainstage, and has been a writer for SNL. I think you'll see him break through into something big in the next couple of years.

  • What a dumbass.

  • This one's a 10 on the scale of awesome. It's right up there with that one Captain Morgan commercial.

  • XD this is the best commercial

  • Wow I haven't seen this commercial in years, awesome lol

  • obviously he's the dumass. :P

  • Is that Jim Cummings doing the voiceover?

  • Sure sounds like it to me.

  • i thought it was a twix or reeses commercial

  • What a dumbass!

  • this could be a commercial for anything

just replace A&W with something else

  • Holy shit i thought this commercial was for southwest airlines this whole time.

  • LOL... yeah it could easily be used for it though.

    Wanna get away?

  • Could also be for Twix.

    Need a moment?

  • LOL....The expression on the old mans face at 0:10

  • I remember seeing this on TV. How this commercial got there is something I'll never understand. Hilarious nonetheless.

  • That's what I did on my last interview

  • The mayor of Attleboro Mass is named Kevin Dumas. Haha.

  • roflmao!!!!!

  • i can never forget this commercial! CLASSIC! LOL!

  • XD i would love to meet someone with that last namel

  • classic

  • Yum, root beer.

  • HaHaHaHaHa. Nice.

  • i first saw this when i was ten now im 15 and its still funny

  • Yeah, pity not every show can be Doctor Who, or whatever the fuck it is you watch.

  • What's wrong with Dr. Who? I agree the yitz guy is rather stupid, but never go and insult Dr. Who.

  • You're right, I should show more respect for my elders.

  • I got in trouble in 3rd grade for saying "I'm dumbass material" in school XD

  • Lol nice job... my brain was just thinking about this commercial. Thanks for posting it!

  • one of the best commercials of all time.

  • i luved this commercial

    one of my favorites:)

  • That's the joke! He's in a job interview, and completely without thinking, he's insulting the person who's going to ultimately decide if he's going to get hired by mispronouncing his name (Dumas, pronounced "doo-mas") as "Dumbass." With every time he stupidly mispronounces the guy's name, he lowers his chances of getting hired more and more. In the end, he proves himself to be "thick-headed" (dumb), just like how A&W Root Beer is "thick-headed" (as in, it has thick foam at the top).

  • patsfannumero1 (1 week ago)

    i dont get it

    patsfannumero1 (4 minutes ago)

    Make up your mind.

  • ROFL!

    what a dumass...

    lmao

  • lololololololololololololololololololo

  • "im dumbass material all the way"

    classic

  • I still love this ad!

    HILLARIOUS!

  • What a dumb ass. Funny as hell

  • Best commercial ever! They showed it around 2000, 2001, and 2002 area of this decade. And they'd only show it at night. Like when Conan O' Brien was on or something.

  • ahahahahaha, the best part is the stamp. *thickheaded*

  • rofl

  • lol! that was so funny! "i am dumass material"

  • LOL LOL LMFAO this has got to be the funniest thing ever to be summoned in the absolute history of mankind itself!

  • I've been looking for this commercial for years.

I remember seeing it once on TV before it got pulled (I'm assuming it got pulled since it used "dumbass" so many times.)
