gimme a diesel any day over that "EPA Approved" pile of crap. Before they got their grubby hands on diesel engines they got really good fuel economy. Now they drink it worse than big gas v-8's. But thats our no nothing so we are goona screw it up govt for ya.
They Just need to work out a few bugs Lol.Natural gas has more octane than gas ,and it is cleaner.I know If you put nc.in a mixed spray of diesel ,man at the power do your home work! I will bet anybody my F350 With direct propane Injection and diesel will bust your ass DONE ! BIG BOYS HAVE BIG TOYS . BULLY DOG ! BOW WOW.
The (far) future is electric and hydrogen with a smattering of bio-diesel and ethanol.
But we NEED this technology now to get us off of petroleum (the US has more natural gas than petroleum reserves), out of the Middle East, and stop screwing over our economy with our imbalance of trade. Also, CNG will be the technology that helps us transition to hydrogen.
There is far more natural gas than propane, but propane is a lot more convenient with today's technology.
too bad conversions cost more than most small cars! Hopefully the EPA gets those crooked little fingers out of the pie. When Adsorbed Natural Gas becomes popular then CNG will be much more viable. Adsorbed NG is around 400 psi, much less than the 3,600 currently required. The cost of tanks will fall, and the design and capacity will meet the needs of owners. Currently one of the largest costs in CNG is the compression costs.
well..good point....the cylinders would be very hazardous if they weren't over engineered..there's a great video online showing how safe and strong these cylinders are....its.the one where they drop a Pontiac from about 90 ft nose first....impressive...if you get in a wreck that bad...i'm pretty sure the CNG cylinder is the last of your worries...
it's great, but do you think the world is ready for such a big change? plus whats wrong with the old un-natural gas, its been there for us, when we needed to drive somewhere, when we needed to fill our cars for four dollars or more a gallon, it has helped make smog covered california the way it is today. so let me ask you, do we really need a change?
Too much jumping around, I caught a glimpse of something but it was too fast to know what they were referring to.
As to "BillionYears", they have shot a bullet in to one of those containers and all it did was leak gas. I guess if you walked around with a torch and lit it you would have a nice fire. You can not believe everything you see in “Hollywood”.
This is a well done video on such an interesting topic- I think the entire way we live our lives is about to change- I just feel lucky to be a part of it.
@BillionYears what - the whole Europe is running these things at a 1/2 cost of gasoline. I've personally driven LPG vehicles and just smiled at the pump
@BillionYears - Natural gas is made up mostly of methane which is highly flammable and explosive when mixed w/ oxygen (air). Gasoline is a liquid fuel of which the vapor is more volatile than the *liquid*. Being that these other fuels are compressed and already in a gaseous state, suggests the potential exists for greater disaster, BUT I imagine engineers have taken this into account, otherwise equivalent *TNT* explosions in "rear-enders" wouldnt look too good for them!
There is even a CNG fire engine out now- HME/Ahrens-Fox recently introduced a heavy attack pumper that runs on CNG.

There's nothing "natural" about natural gas ... it is still just a petroleum based product.

I can believe that it took so long to put the GNVs on a road in the US. We're 15 years behind Europe. Anyway, it's better now than never :)
