How did you get Halo 2 to run in full screen. Please tell me. When I try to get my m1530 to run H2 in full screen it just doesn't do it. It will only play in a window.

The way you phrased that makes me believe you don't realise the difference between a laptop and computer. The XPS M1530 is notorious for operating at high temperatures. Even with a large cooling pad and the exhaust fan forced to 100% the temperature will climb dramatically non overclocked on high graphics. Overclocking it would cause it to combust in minutes, when the GPU touches 123 Degrees it decides that is the point at which is should drop its clock speed and will drop to a preset amount.

Definitely not the best bang for your buck if you're in the market for a gaming notebook. I'd check out the gateway fx laptops or possibly a sager. This notebook has some great features, looks neat and has an excellent warranty. However, (I'm not a fanboy or a dell hater) for the money you pay, the hardware is very lacking(except for the cpu). Get something with at least an 8800 and 4 gigs of ram.
I just checked a xps and a sager. The sager had a 9600m gt and the xps only had a 8600m gs. Altho, the xps had a slightly better processor. It had a t7250, whereas the sager only had a t5800. The rest of the specs were pretty much the same. The xps was 685 and the sager was 746. So all in all the xps is decent value for money. I'd say acer has nice value for money. They have a laptop with similar specs to the other two but has a t5750 and a ati 3650 (gpu better than the xps's) and was only 587.
DELL STUDIO 15 if you wana be able to do this for cheap, its like the xps only with a bit lower stuff, i can run crysis on low with medium/low lags :P but xps is pretty sick, its just i dont think its worth 1000+$ i bought my studio 15 at the dell outlet for 589$ :D 256mb ati graphics card :P
the fans can get a little loud at times when needed like playing crysis for example and i can play games for hours like half life2(gmod), left 4 dead, silent hill homecoming and doesnt heat it up too much but can get a little toasty at times but for the most part if u keep the vents ventilated then you should be fine for th most part

the performance of the computer is based around the graphics card, processor and ram. you need to find a good processor(2.4 Ghz is good)the ram is fine at 3 gigs. the graphics card I would recomend the 8600 256mb of memory. the harddrive does not matter just get one that has enough storage. you can play alot of games. I play crysis on medium settings which means that sims 2 will run on medium-high.

yea it sort of turned out that way when I finished filming it. I did this just off the top of my head so it went more toward games and less toward the xps. I have one video purely about the xps.

You think that's enough to maybe play on medium setting? According to the recommended settings, everything checks out except a slightly lower processor speed.
The only thing about playing WoW on Vista is that it is built for XP so it will not run as fast if you simply upgrade your computer to Vista. With the 1530 there is plenty of processing power and RAM to boot so I wouldn't worry about being able to play WoW on this comp.

the only problem I have had is the touch pad is not the best but thats it.

you should get the nvidia programs that monitor the temparature. Also prevents lag. Check it out!

loool, if u mean counter strike source, I think so, if it's able to play crysis on low to middle details, it will be able to play CSS on high details ^^ I don't know about the fps, but if u remind me in about 3 weeks, I'll have a try, just ordered mine two days ago

i am thinking on getting the xps m1530. I am just wondering if you needed to do anything to make halo 2 work. ( can it play it out of the box) And does your comp have service pack 1?
And also what grfx and ram do you have?

you can play it right out of the box. you dont even have to install it. you can play it directly off the disc.

yea it sort of turned out that way when I finished filming it. I did this just off the top of my head so it went more toward games and less toward the xps. I have one video purely about the xps.

Check out my video, my M1530 is running Guitar Hero III... Even though the specs on mine are barebone, it can still manage to run that, Halo 2, Gears of War, Shadowrun etc.... Would you happen to know how to overclock the processor? Mine's only a 1.83 ghz Dual Core, and I wanted it to run just a tttaad bit faster to make everything smoother... Thanks!

He is not playing it on high or he is not playing on the 1530. I have the most powerful graphics card and if i even select high the menu crashes.

The only thing about playing WoW on Vista is that it is built for XP so it will not run as fast if you simply upgrade your computer to Vista. With the 1530 there is plenty of processing power and RAM to boot so I wouldn't worry about being able to play WoW on this comp.
