This may be a dumb question, but can you just change out tubes? like switch the el34s in this to el84s?

You would have to use yellowjackets or some other converter to use EL84's...I dont think they would fit under the cover so you would have to run the amp without the chrome chassis cover. This amp is not able to run 6L6 valves.

Nice job Vox, I will get one. I have a AC30 and a AC4TV and love them. I bought the AC4TV4 first and was so impressed with it I got an AC30 ta boot. I got tired of my sound and was exparenting with different amps and got hooked on Vox. Unlike other British amps, this one has a great clean channel. The drive is a great overdrive as well. I jump the channels so I play thru both which is a nice feature. The Tremalo can act as a Delay if ya set the speed fast. A Great tube sound!!

Right on VOX, got some good people in your corner. I play everything but, i'm mainly a metal player and i used my NT for metal and loved it but, upping the poswer,adding a tight mode and (though i'd never need it) adding another gain stage is great, can't wait to try one.
