I really only played shadow of the colossus for it's musical score. Seriously it's brilliant and really sells the colossus fights. Without the music the boss fights might actually come off as tedious which they really were if you think about it. Doesn't help the part where you have to search for them which always takes forever and there is no music playing. I suppose the atmosphere is supposed to carry me away but I'm not really a scenery type of guy.

Sure the actual meat of the gameplay is solid and unique, but it's everything else that takes me out of it and make me dislike the game. The fact that there's nothing much to do in the overall world other than find and kill the colossi always felt weak, like the developers couldn't be bothered to fill in the gaps. Couple that with the horse handling like a three-wheeled shopping cart and the whole 'follow the shine on your sword to know where to go' thing and you've lost me.

Damn... Not even you said anything about it...  I guess I'll say it- while this game is amazing, it's camera controls suck so bad it's utterly amazing at times. I thought that yahtzee of all people would mention it, so I guess that either I'm crazy or almost everyone is EFFING BLIND!

No your not blind, the camera is that bad and the main reason it took me a year to finish the game. Not because it made the game more difficult, but because it just made me not want to play it.

I recently played it for the first time ever at a friend's house and was really surprised by how good it is.

The only thing I don't get is why people like the horse. Yes, it's the only thing to keep you company and yes, I know what happens at the end, but most of the time I was just cursing at it because the controls are horrible and it keeps smacking into trees and rocks.

@jaredvcxz1336 I am also American, but I do know what Kinder Surprises are. They're small chocolate eggs with a small capsil inside containing a small buildable toy. They are banned here in America, because we're worried that children might eat the toy (which is rather dumb because the toy is inside a plastic capsil too big to fit into the mouth of an infant who doesn't know any better). This is unfortunate though because they taste really good :)

I know that these reviews are mostly satirical with some truth in it but I actually love Shadow of Colossus. My only complaint is that there is not much to do in between the Colossi and you find yourself running around till then. Otherwise,great game!!!!!

Also, in regard to the 'I don't like falling off and having to start over" bit. Maybe try paying better attention to your grip gauge?

Plus you can regain your grip WHILE falling if you drop by a suitably mossy (furry? hairy? viney?) spot. Just seemed like a bit of a nitpick to me...
