There's a typo in the video title, you wanted to name it "plane fails to crash caught on tape", didn't you? Actually only VERY few planes crash after a lightning strike thanks to the principle known as faraday cage. The worst is usually issues with electronic devices or ball-lightnings that "explode" tearing a hole. There are some reported incidents of ball-lightnings wrecking planes, but no live footage AFAIK. I'm not even sure there's any "proven-not-faked" footage of ball-lightnings at all...

of course not, the skin of the aircraft conducts electricity very well and wont let anything inside. The current will just flow around to the lowest point of the aircraft and continue through the air all the way to the ground. It is actually very unlikely the plane was even damaged.

Many modern airliners are built so that in the rare case that a plane should be struck by lightning (planes shouldn't be flying below thunderstorms anyways) the electricity is routed around the fuselage and away from and people/electronics. this is not really a crash at all.

I beleive the plane did not blow up due to a certain ''wyrozub capacitor'' on the roof of the plane. When turned on, lightning goes through the plane but in an ''invisble'' way. Pretty Neat stuff

Aircraft are NOT immune or completely protected from lightning strikes, whenever possible pilots are instructed to avoid areas of high precipitation and elctro static activity because of the potential danger of lightning aswell as other associated dangers. Several aircraft accidents have been directly attributed to lightning strikes, modern aircraft DO have precautions in place to protect them in the event of a strike, usually by way of dissapating the strike and protecting the onboard systems.

lightening strikes on a plane do almost nothing nowadays, the plane is built a certain way so that that charge stays on the outside until landing, when they immidiatly ground the plane.

@BreyerLover2585 just for your information, lightning strikes can take out some of the electronic equipment on board any aircraft immediately, so it is indeed possible for a lighning strike to cause an aircraft to crash. however there are anti-surge protectors fitted to most crafts nowdays, but these will never be 100% fail safe so dont be thinking that aircraft are immune to strijkes they most certainly are not.

@BreyerLover2585 They can do things to a plane they often do, but generally the power restores after a few seconds, but a few planes have been taken down because of lightning. And you can definitely tell, there is a hugely loud crack and the lights fail for a while.
