dude seriously u make good videos and its true that the kahler gos a little out of tune when u do ur fucking 3 and a half step bejesus bend but when r u ever gonna bend that much its a little unrealistic
@isaacownz im not sayin ur wrong the floyd stays in tune with that and the kahler doesnt but seriously when the hell are you ever gonna bend that much thats like if ur testing amps and u chain like 7 distortion pedals in all at the same time and u say oh that amp squeals more is not as good
I could never go with tremolos. I have bad patience with things, but I am hoping to get a tremolo in the future. Thats when I finally get some patience really done.
@venom1stas It's call Peterson Strobosoft. It's a virtual strobe tuner. A good tech will have at least sometype of virtual or true strobe tuner. If you've ever seen the strobostomp from Peterson its basically the same thing, just on your computer. They make it for IPod and IPad too. He doesn't need the PC to tune the guitar.
i have solved the bending/diving issue by using Big Bends' String Sleeves (cut in half), so that THEY ride the cam, & NOT the strings. i no longer have ANY probs switching between finger bending & whammy diving, and i don't even have a string lock on my lp/sg. as an added precaution, i VERY occasionally use big bend's nut sauce where the string sleeves curve around the cam. trust me, i have had NO tuning issues since doing this! i can bend & dive ALL DAY LONG, & stay in tune...
Those were some gnarly bends. You are probably the most honest person I have seen on youtube. I already kinda wanted to switch from a Floyd to a Kahler, but you convinced me. Thank you.
Hey man, just a quick question your BC rich KK wartribe was that custom shop or of the shelf?? cuz the only one i can find on the websit is a basswood body with BC stock pickups.
Ur videos are the best I wish I could make a donation but I'm just 11 and I'm planning to get an ESP LTD M-300FM do u think it would be a good guitar?
I have never owned a Kahler because in my 15 years of playing I've never seen a guitar in a music store equipped with one. I'm only every used licensed floyd on my Ibanez guitars and I've always thought they were a pain in the ass! Sure once you get them set up they're great.. but ever break a string during a gig and you're screwed! I think I might get a Kahler for the locking feature alone. That would save a TON of time on string changing and for in tune double stop bending.
does kahler make a 7 string tremolo, and if so can you have them put in hard tail guitars,i have the rg7 321 with damrzio tone zone and paf and absoultely love this guitar, and instead of spending a great deal of money to have a 7 string with trem i would rather just get one put on my favorite guitar that i own
Hey, dmometalguitar! I think you're doing a fantastic job on getting the facts straight. As a Kahler user myself I'd always wonder of the tunnig problems. Do you have any advise/solutions for the clicking sound in the tremlock while the guitar is getting tuned?
Totally unbiased. I love your tech videos. Your original video stopped me from buying a Khaler equiped-ESP a while back. I'm now a dedicated Floyd user one hundred percent, and that other dude's video was totally biased.
Very, very well argued. Good to see this kind of to-and-fro, we guitarists get taken for a ride far too often by certain manufacturers. And for those of us without the resources to be able to actually compare such things, videos like yopurs can be IMMENSELY helpful when making an educated purchase choice.
Please keep up the great work, it is very much appreciated!
Lol, the hillbilly's guitar actually DID went out of tune... "pretty good to me!" Well, if out of tune is good enough for him... No need to say more...
This is what the internet is all about. Not corporate clones blabbing on about how the consumer is wrong, it's all about an ACTUAL guitar player like you (really skilled, too), making well informed videos that inform us rather than lead us. Keep up the good work, hopefully someone at Kahler sees this as a way to improve and not react childishly.
It's ok for sellers to post videos. But what's remarkable is to have a company calling a consumer a liar. When Honda or Toyota manufactures a new car, they receive good and negative reviews. But they don't tell people who write the negative reviews the information is false or misleading. They learn from consumers and try to improve their product. I'm not the only person saying Kahlers go out of tune. Kahler should learn from consumers and come up with a solution rather than being defensive.
Also, let's assume that his Kahler does stay in tune for some exceptional reason. That still doesn't change the fact many others don't, and I show that clearly on my B.C. Rich and my videos. Companies need to make sure their products work well in the VAST MAJORITY of cases rather than focusing on one or two successful cases to prove a point. I met a luthier from Guitar Center the other day, and he told me various players have come to him complaining his Kahlers don't stay in tune.
I'm hardly the only person saying this. But I do think Kahler is an AMAZING tremolo system. I strongly believe if they solve the bending issue without requiring any special hacks, they'll have the greatest tremolo ever and will be able to compete with the Floyd Rose face to face. I posted a three-part video offering Kahler suggestions to solve the tuning problem. If they ever decide to improve their system and come up with a new, kick ass model, I'll be the FIRST to buy it and review it!
@dmometalguitar It's pretty funny you brought up a tech from Guitar Center, since we haven't carried a guitar with a Kahler since the early eighties (We just started carrying ESP/LTD last year) and the techs in our stores have very limited knowledge of Kahler systems. Try getting our tech's to set-up a guitar with a Bigsby. 1 guy in the chain (in Hollywood) can do it. When people don't know how to deal with things they talk shit. That's human nature. Fender 6-screw tremolo's do the same thing.
@dmometalguitar Luthier from Guitar Center, now THAT is funny!!!! Bottom line, if you can't keep your Kahler in tune, you don't know how to properly adjust it. Simple fact of life.
I have a kahler and yeah, it definitely goes out of tune. Most of the time it can be fixed by bending up on the bar once. I still love the Kahler though, it's a fundamentally different set up from a floyd. A Floyd is like a super strat trem whereas a kahler is a super vibrato kinda like a bigsby. They're completely different
i use ibanez tremelos, not exclusively its just the only guitar i own that has a trem, and they are really nice too. kahlers are great if you like to play with higher action. that Wammiworld guy was stupid, and probaly paid to do that video.
mmmm I guess what I meant was that if a new type of Kahler comes out that gets rid of all the tuning problems AND was in a production model guitar THEN I would buy it. Or if I have a guitar with a kahler that I can easily exchange for the new kahler, I would do that
I might be getting a handcrafted ironbird that has a kahler. A guy who doesn't play it anymore is going to give it to me. Anyway i think I'll use your method instead of that OLD queer's. Thanks for the help and skrew him for making fun of your chpstick method.
That guy was full of it. I remember towards the end of the video, his strings were out of tune when he was yelling "sounds fine to me!". Adding comments was disabled. Lotsa ppl were probably telling him that.
I don't think your misleading at all. Someone who sells that product will say that it's like a used car salesman. also I use chapstik on the knife edges of my floyds and on the cylinder if the vibrato bar to help it move more freely.
With the standard stringing procedure, it will go out of tune even with the slighest bend. 1 1/2 bend will make the string go flat by the same amount. With my soldering + tilted cam + chapstick procedure, the 2300 model will stay in tune 95% with bends and dives, and the Hybrid model will stay in tune about 70%-80%. My Fixing Kahler's Bending & Tuning problem explains the issue in detail.

Also what's stupid is that this guy is actually a huge Kahler fan, he has many guitars and videos with them and actually uses them, unlike most people out there who think that the only tremolo that exists is Floyd Rose.
The fact that he also includes the disadvantages in his reviews means that he is doing a good job, unlike that retard in the other vid who basically tells you to fuck up your guitar in order to set up the trem - in a manner that most people hate and is outdated since the 80's.
He might as well have said "Don't listen to who buy my stuff, they're stupid. Don't listen to them about the problems and how to fix them; you shouldn't fix problems, just ignore them."
Great defense, these ppl would say anything just to sell, eventhough your are quite positive about Kahlers all thogheter. Intonation has everything to do perfect tuning.
You won't be able to tell if a guitar is intonated properly just by playing up the fingerboard -- you need to have a good chromatic tuner and play the open string, then the next octave harmonic. If it is an eighth out of tune, you likely won't be able to tell with your ears, but your tuner will pick that up. I don't doubt however that the Kahler is causing you trouble..I heard it is made of cheaper metals..whatever that means.
