I have this same pistol in 45acp and I love it. Mine has two steel magazines that came with it and then I purchased two aditional mags from CthanD(I think they are promag brand). Even though these additional mags were a fraction of the cost of the factory mags, they work just as well. You might want to consider some as well incase those polymers break. Good luck and you have a really great pistol.

I picked up my USP .40 from a friend for $400 with 50 rounds through it. As far as the AR Build, Ive not built one complete from parts, although I can recommend Stag, Rock River, DPMS, Spider are all good lowers. and for parts i use mostly DPMS. If you buy parts kits from Midway or Bravo Company, they all sell good parts. You should be able to get a good lower for around $175 empty or a complete for around $350 at the gun shows.
That is an impressive piece. I have been interested in HK but it's hard to get past the price. The quality is impeccable and German engineering is what you pay for.

It is my semi-daily carry and I have knocked over a few west Texas piglets with it from my bow stand. It handles great, points naturally. You will not be disappointed in the H&K performance once you get some time afield.
