One irony is that when Argentina took this "liberaliz...ation" literally and a company started selling pharma to Africa (AIDS drugs), Washington and the IMF ordered them to stop selling outside of their global jurisdiction.

Massive corporations and banks can not harm us without the help of our governments to legitimize them. The idea that third world growth would limit Western growth, and this is actually more associated with statism than the banks themselves. Higher growth rate in those nations and a radical increase in resource costs, would delight bankers. Why? Because primary costs would force corporations AND nations to borrow more.
