Wow, how times have changed. I lived in Western MA from 1980 - 2001, and didn't know that Channel 3 was now in Springfield. Oprah's buddy Gayle King-Bumpus used to work there when they were in Hartford, as did Randall Pinkston (now CBS).

@elc1960 WFSB is still Channel 3 in Hartford and down there.. that's still the station seen on cable/ satellite/ over the air... WSHM is a low-powered station with the same owner.. in the Pioneer Valley they just replaced one station with the other on cable/ satellite and if you live in Springfield.. you have yet another place for local news.

@moosewelch Thanks for the info. I haven't been back there for a visit since 2004, and that was only overnight to go to the Big E. I live in Rhode Island now, so I had no knowledge that there had been any changes with the local Springfield/Hartford area TV channels.

The station replaced WFSB (also channel 3) on local cable systems when it launched. They kept the channel number hoping to keep viewers watching.
