Jerry Lynn was supposed to win the title there. After that match he was mocking Van Dam with "The new F´N Show" and he was claiming to be the one wrestler who would deprive Van Dam of the Television title.

Perhabs he was to proud to win the title by time limit decision.

@xxRVD420xx indeed, he was the only man who could run Van Dam to his limits and that ended up being his gimmick, n these guys put on a series of incredible matches for the television title. made it seem as important if not more so than the world title at the time since RVD was on top of his game and Lynn could put on great matches with him. to run it to the time limit would be a 'proud' moment under the angle, since it means he can go hold-for-hold, toe-to-toe with the whole f'n show. :)

It couldn't be more obvious that Lynn "didn't want to win by decision", but the story is that the ref was going to award the match to Lynn by decision. I don't think that's ever happened in wrestling...aside from probably when AWA was doing rounds toward the end, lol.

Keep in mind that everywhere but WWE uses metal elevator cables wrapped in tape for their ring ropes. Thats why you see RVD get so much more out of that frog splash in ECW then he ever did in WWE. Same with when you watch TNA and see a guy like AJ Styles hit the spring board 450 splash from the ring apron and the "rope" (cable) barely moves.

1. it gives the match/their feud a sportsman element which i personaly enjoy in wrestling

2. it sets greater hype for their next match which id say beyond a shadow of a doubt was the best match of lynn's career

to be honest the wwe was always fair shit because their target audience was always children. After the rise of ecw, wwe realised they weren't catering for the teenage market so they launched the attitude era as to compete with wcw. After the competition was gone they went back to what they do best, kiddy wrestling.

all along the wwe has been pretty shit, appart from when they had ecw to copy off and now they cant even do the kiddy shit properly.

This can all be traced to Vince's personal tastes.

I don't know where RVD is these days...Or Jerry Lynn for that matter...Sabu's wrestling in Mexico with AAA...all of which is a shame....I understand Vince's desire to use WWECW as a proving ground for new young talent...but there are millions of fans who thought he was bringing back the real ECW, and the fact that he didn't is a slap in the face to all of them. It's matches like this and talent like these two that made the real ECW special. Thanks PaulE!
