I don't like this recording as much. First of all, on pure basis of quality, the recording quality is lower. Secondly, the piano is much..weaker. This seems to be a piece of power and passion, which this recording is too soft to sufficiently convey.
This piece has so much hidden anxiety and obsession... It can be felt that he was trying to find the way out of trouble... Excellent works... Sure, Pierne must be more famous than he is!
Do any of these concertos (Pierne, Sinding, Alkan, d'Albert, Sgambati et.al.) ever get public performances these days?
