  • hearing,not earing

  • I remeber earing and buying this in Torquay long before Robert Palmer watered it down, glad to say I've got the original 45 with picture sleeve

  • I wish someone would make a hard rock cover of this

  • You nailed it, man

  • I love the chic on the lower right, boogie pop!!

  • Cool hearing original as written.

LOL At 2:30, "Shake my fist, knock on wood..." background guitarist knocks on his head...

  • @paelgin small correction: Moon sings ...pound on wood ... and the guy knocking his head is Denny Croy, the BASS-player not the guitarist :-)

  • @larth58 You're right about the lyrics (I guess I paraphrased in my head) and the musician. Thanks for the clarification. I was laughing too hard I guess.

How do you know them (the band) so well? Are you one of them (he says hopefully)?

  • @larth58 Even smaller correction....a bass player IS a guitarist. Ease up a little.

  • Awesome!! Super Cool!!!!

  • I never liked Palmer's MTV hip Zombie girl backing band.

  • The main weakness I hear in this song is the main riff has a minor chord, an unhappy sound to it. In Palmer's remake, that sound is a major chord and much more fun sounding.

  • Never heard this song as originally written before. The minor key gives additional flavor missing from Palmer's x5 power-chord version.

  • Fantastic version of the song by the author no less .

  • Yes, that's Jude Cole playing the lead guitar in the early days of his career. Jude can play the shit out of guitar!

  • Comment removed

  • He may write the song, but Palmer crushes him in singing it

  • shit

  • jude cole as a baby ,love it!

  • Thanks so much for posting this! I'm a huge MM fan. Hopefully I can dig up his Capitol albums on CD some day.

  • Esta canción me trae buenos recuerdos

  • jude cole is a badass

  • I like it ! thanks for sharing!

  • lol sultans of swing intro?@

  • Jude Cole looks about 12! LOL.

  • Five years ago I wrote a letter to MOON MARTIN fan club and he respond with an autograph cd and tape.

    Thank you!

  • No se me olvidará nunca esta canción y hace unos 25 años que la escuché ¡for the good times!

Fenomenal aunque mucho mejor grabada en estudio.

  • I like this song !!!!!! Thanks larth58 !!!!!

  • it's a shame, but palmer did it better. deville (cadillac walk) as well. they put more fire into the songs. sad for the great musician martin, but true. but martin will always stay the man behind the perfect lyrics: "a pretty face don't make no pretty heart" - that's great.

  • Good ol' Moonie! I always liked his version better than Palmer's...guess cos he was the one who wrote it.

  • If Palmer would not record it, this song would be forgotten. Same with Simply the best. If Tina Turner would not sing it, it would be trash

  • Bollocks - this is a great song. Robert Palmer had two talents - his voice and his choice of other people's material (oh yeah, and dress sense, attracting women, etc., etc.) - but give credit where it's due. eh?

  • What a great time for music!

  • The sound is too noiseless.

  • Nobody can beat Robert Palmers version of this song!

  • AGREE

  • One more thing>> GREAT POST! All i ever had from this time period was the Super 8 footage i shot of him (No Sound) back in 1978. this is Awesome!!

  • Keep tuning in here, because I have lot's of more Moon videos which I will post here as far as I get the time!

  • Outstanding!! Look forward to them...

  • Do you have an mp3 or a video of Moon doing 'I Saw Her Standing There'? It's the hardest song to find on the net.

  • Man, this was great. Do you have the studio version clip? It was in the same set of "Rolene", which another user has posted here.

  • The of the better singer/songwriters in the business.Europe saw his talent, to bad America never did. His first 4 albums are classics!! Saw him in 1978 when he opened up for the Runaways at the Whisky a Go Go in Hollywood.Been a fan ever since.

  • All the cd of moon martin (rare cd) are fantastic with his melodies ,riffs, rock, and voice.

  • I had a bunch of MM albums. Would love to hear it all again. "Hold me close hold me tight, the moon is burning bright..."

  • Special Thanx for sharing !!

    Best Regards ...

  • I don't think this is a very good version.

  • I need you to soothe my pain!

  • All the memories !

    Thanx for this song !

  • Great video. I think its from the WDR Rockpalast broadcast. Samstag auf Sonntag, 06.11.1994 1.20 - 6.20 Uhr im WDR Fernsehen LYNYRD SKYNYRD (Musikhalle Hamburg, 05.12.74) LEE CLAYTON (Markthalle Hamburg, 09.01.80) DAVID LINDLEY (Metropol Berlin, 03.11.81) MOON MARTIN (Markthalle Hamburg, 22.01.81)
  • Yeah, it's from the Rockpalast broadcast but the date is wrong. Moon played the Markthalle January 21 according to the Rockpalast Archiv. Funny though, the 22'nd Carolyne Mas made a gig at the Markthalle.

Carolyne maybe were watching the Moon concert the day before and liked it because on her next record she included a Moon Martin cover. The song was "(S.O.S) Signal for help"

  • I KNEW this guy existed! Iarth58, you just made my whole DAY!
