I like that when he walks over the stones it sounds like marbles under his feet. In "Working" the vocals are so soothing, they come over you in a lulling trance, only to be broken by the drums towards the ends. They convey their meanings not only in lyrics but in sound, and I enjoy the way they work into a tribal jam dance in "Tantrum Bomb" This entire album is awesome, and my only complaint is you can't rip the album off the DVD into a FLAC or MP3 file..OH WELL still <3 them
I'm surprised to find myself enjoying this. I was afraid it would be too avant-garde for me and I'd find it horribly boring, instead I'm just delighted by the weirdness!
For those of you who don't realize, their is an underlying narrative, it's just layer back in your subconscious. Check out 4:00-4:08, the background shot (the red scene with Avey's character BENEATH the rest of the sonic fuzz) resembles a part of the film later on down into the story. So yes, a sensory overload, but story telling on a different plain.
this is the oddest sac, had a religious experience watching this. when that goon is running through the woods and melts into a pool of color i fucking cried
u dont need to be on drugs to enjoy animal collective. they make u feel great no matter what and this video is pure proof of that!!! loved it, makes me want to just chill out
@nauseousqueasy DMT is life changing too. If you havent broken through the vale yet then you should check it out. I love frying but DMT is another world
i watched this vid on shrooms 2 days ago cuz my friend thought it would trip me out and it looked like he was walking on dead boddies and omfg it did but now im sober watching this and it looks like rocks.( mind blowing)
I remember when I was coming down from an acid trip seeing photographs of rocks and wilderness landscapes and thinking literally EVERYTHING was just people painted to look like scenery. It was very awesome, but at the same time it kind of creeped me out. One of the greatest hallucinations I've ever had. At the time it wasn't very overwhelming or amazing, but thinking back on it, it was absolutely wonderful.
@WalrusmiXtapes yea its not true, i was at the screening in new york and the band said outright the movie has no meaning they just wanted it to look and sound cool
4:30 holy fuck I was singing along :(

I got here by searching for the classic Genesis song suite Working with Barbara's Tarantula. Pleasant surprise though.

just put that you didnt make this in the description. and you should put on the song before these with all the colors just swirling,

this is an experimental piece of video art.
so although it doesn't have a cohesive plot it is not meaningless.
the visuals and sounds are supposed to compliment each other and create a texture and feeling.

Animal Collective and Danny Perez did not put countless acid/salvia/shroom trips and 4 full years of work into this film to make it meaningless.

thanks for posting
DysphoricExemption 1 year ago 3
this film is all about interpretation but its interesting to try and figure out the intention the band had.
white sky/ green trees/ rock
white - consciousness/ mind
green - heart chakra/ soul
rocks - solidity / body
mind/ soul / body
the guy represents consciousness or maybe thought? music goes with what the guy is feeling. the rest is all up to the viewer?
no idea if this is at all true, just an interesting thing that came to mind
