  • I love this quote: "Screw Paris and music and everything you thought you stole from me."

  • Beautiful... Ali MacGraw is naturally gorgeous and so beautiful in this movie....Full of life, love, laughs, and fun.

  • Devastatingly emotional.

  • i litterally just got done reading the book (took me 6 hours, couldn't put it down) and that's not how it ended :/ i prefer the ending in the book just because, he's crying in his fathers arms..

  • I was 15 and saw this with my high school sweetheart. We went our separate ways two years later, but I think I took away from this film a lesson about what really matters in a marriage. I eventually married my best friend, and in 32 years we have rarely had to say 'I'm sorry'. I hope my first love found happiness too.

  • i am 22 ..this movie is 20 year older than me...

but i love this movie...it make me cry and appreciate love that i have today...

  • Every day above ground is a gift!!!!

  • What can you say about a twenty-five-year-old girl who died? That she was beautiful and brilliant? That she loved Mozart and Bach, the Beatles, and me? ~Oliver Barrett IV

  • wts the story of this movie????

  • @misstukhi love story

  • @misstukhi Read emtcowboy1968's comment. That pretty much sums it up...

Love means never having to say you're sorry.

  • "Love means never having to say you're sorry."

"That's the dumbest thing I have ever heard."

  • @maskedavenger777 I swear its not bullshit.I also did not understand it until last month.I only realize the meaning of this today.he is not saying about common fights in couples. It means that, when you really love someone, you'd never do anything that break the trust or the respect between the couple.you wont dare to cross that field. When someone do something that collapse your trust or respect and dont care about the consequence, its time to move on to other relationship.Sorry for mistakes

  • @januaryfriend1 Erremah, what's up doc?

  • One of The Greatest Love Stories Ever Told

An amazing acting job by Ryan and Ali

Difficult to find and seldom seen on TV

Unfortunate would be nice to show this generation what love truly is

    Awesome Awesome Movie

  • she looks amazingly healthy : )

  • @skyaglow That's why it's called "Ali MacGraw disease." The only symptom is she gets more beautiful the closer she gets to dying.

  • this is so sad..... i`m crying.........

  • mean people SUCK! sad he went thru the same with Farrah fawcett ..Im sure:( the irony!

  • mean people SUCK!

  • the dislike button if for the ending. He should of died with her. Taken a bottle of pills and lay there next to her so they could die together. The Shakespeare they should of recalled was Romeo and Juliet.

  • five people have no soul

  • Oliver tried hittin pop's up for some bread to pay for her treatment and he thought it was fo abortion. One of the only flicks where theatre goers walked oup at end red eyed and somber in an almost erie silence. Kleenex stock shot through the roof during this 1970 movie run.

  • the last scene when he sits and just stares blankly...breaks me every single time. and this haunting tune. unforgettable...

  • I wish he had just smothered her with a pillow and gotten it over with then and there.

  • After watching LOVE STORY. there is nowhere else to go.Sleep well, remember.

After Life there is No Pain, No Sorrow, for those who have departed this place.

    maxthevid.

  • This is a gift, a thing of beauty to be shared by those with the soul and heart to

appreciate the skills of those who wrote, who had the skils to put the hundreds and thousands of pieces together in such a way. Applaude them they deserve i t . maxthevid.

  • This movie was made about 17 years before I was born but I liked it alot when I watch it for the first time a view years ago. I cried like a baby, I dont ever cry at things. I was like does love like that actually exist?

The girl really reminds me of julia stiles.

  • this movie reminds me of many years ago!!!

  • i read the book yesterday and i cried really hard...One of the best books ever

  • i have watched this movie and I really cried at the end. Though I was born on 1988, and only watched this last year [2010], the movie seems to be for all generations...

  • .... this 10mins part of the movie indeed made me cry... i love dis movie even if i haven't seen this movie...

  • Ryan O'neal whyd you have to get old :"(

  • I have two things to say...

    1. I'm surprised to just find out at 7:27 is where Immortal Technique got their song's beat from in the song "Dance With the Devil"

    And

    2. The 4 people who disliked this secretly cried while watching this and disliked it LOL

  • too bad she wasnt a christian in that movie, sad.i cried my eyes out anyway.

  • @TheEjplc1 Catholics also believe in JesusChrist

  • Life imitates art sometimes. RIP, Farrah ,RIP Steve McQueen.

  • I see where Nick Sparks gets a lot of his plot and inspiration now.

  • Ah For fuck sakes ...Who the hell pushed that dislike button?

  • When I saw this I cried and I NEVER cry!

  • @annib00 Most likely not, because if you're poor you STILL can't really get access to the best medical care! You notice there at the end when the guy's father showed up offering "help?" In other words, specialists and treatment. This story still holds up in today's world and it's just as poignant as ever!

  • @elteescat

I completely agree with you. Some things never changes.

But we have LOVE STORY forever.Best movie of all times!

  • amare vuol dire.....non dire mai mi dispiace........

  • its unfinished... 2 years later he will meet marcie...

  • @bamithable who?

  • Comment removed

  • @Fern4ndaOoO oliver.... any way olivers story is there sequel to this....

  • @bamithable whats that movie called?

  • hey, where can i load this film? i"ve been looking for it for a while!

  • This movie kills me every time I see him on I can not stop crying. It makes me remember the day I've seen the movies and the movie ended I saw everybody was silent cry, it's been almost 40 years ago. I will not forget this ''Love Means Never Having to Say You're Sorry" Sorry everybody now I cry again...

  • I would truly love to see this whole movie again. I was 10 when it came out and living on Cape Cod, which is south of Boston/Cambridge (site of story) some 60 miles. I just sat here and cried again, 40 years later, watching this part. That book title "Love Story" was iconic in shape, color, with tilted O's throughout that era, and many dog-eared copies were passed around amongst friends who, like me, read it. What a beautiful movie.

  • The best american movie I've ever seen , I think I saw this movie for first time when I was13 and I liked it so much

but nowadays I don't see it many times

  • Jenny's dead at 6min 50...Ray Milland's eyes...what an actor!!!

  • didnt he bust in tears in his fathers arms? ..

  • Very sad movie for me, since my wifes life was cut short due to leukimia. Be thankful for what you have today it may not be here tommorrow

  • @stonesharve awww i hope your happy in life and find peace again

  • @stonesharve very true words, we only have today, tomorrow is a gift.

  • I know what the line meant..I lived at roughly the same time and age, melanoma,,lived the film,,, strangely we looked alot like them,,,, I still miss her..RWB

  • it´s the only movie that makes me cry

  • fantastic movie, but that famous line like honestly makes u think, in my few. honestly not realistic but it is a deep thought where u think about it

  • The ONLY movie that made me cry. I's my number #1 !

  • such a sad movie. love it <3

  • love means never having to say your sorry is the silliest thing I ever heard...I do love this movie though!!! :-(

  • Am I the only one who recognizes that the letter style in the closing credits of this film is/are exactly the same letter style of the old Mary Tyler Moore Show credits?---which came out the same year as this movie, btw (1970).

When I saw the closing credits of this movie appear....it made me immediately think of MTM.

  • Because it was Fred, because it was Vilka, because i wanted her so much, because i would have killed the white horse for her, just to change the end of the story.

    I love you fourchette.

  • the second movie, should have been like the first. But what a waste!! It was brutal and a discrace to the first one.

  • pero por nunca decir lo siento

    la perdí

  • when i was youger, this movie mae me cry,,,,the bad is...it stil make me cry...30 years later

  • @mexgus You aint on ya own kid! - 40ys ago it creased me too - and still does!!!! - It aint easy havin a soul!!!

  • @belartful

I agree with you 100 percent.

  • I think that the look in Ryan O'Neal's face when he says that line explains it all. The hurt in his eyes show that part of that line means that you should do all that you can to never hurt those that you love, so that you're never in the position to say that you're sorry. But his face also shows that if you truly love someone very much and you know that they love you, you should not pain yourself by saying that you're sorry. Their love has already forgiven you.

  • What type of illness killed her?

  • @akalvig Wikipedia says that it was leukaemia.

  • @akalvig Its implied that its leukemia, but I think it never really says.

  • I CANNOT believe that after all these years I am sitting here CRYING!!

  • nelson209-so true my friend-so true!

  • i just cried from like the first 5 secs.

  • Jenny asks Oliver for HELP, and he always gives it to her.

    H-Health, Happiness

    E-Energy, Enthusiam

    L-Love, Laughter

    P-Prayers, Patience

Oliver's father never does any of this! That is why this story is such a sad one.

  • Jenny asks this from Oliver and she always gets it. HELP. Health, Happiness. Energy, Enthusiasm. Love, Laughter. Prayers and Patience.

  • Even though I am man, I still get chooked up when I see that last part of the movie. Just like I did when I just watched it.

  • thank you for this. More Love Stories?

  • She looks like she has not been sick a day in her life how unrealisitc.

  • 1970 ?? Wow, 40 years ago ?? I was only seven, but I remember my older sisters watching it and crying. The last scene is hard to forget, the backdrop is perfect for the movie...a gloomy day, no people around, him sitting there completely alone. A true classic and a sad one too.

  • it makes me cry anytime i watch it ;-(

  • cuando la vi por primera vez tenia 15 años y esta escena del hospital donde el toma su mano me quebro....con pocos ingredientes hicieron una obra maestra de love story....es imposible no llorar

  • His look and eyes are so expressive!!

  • Love is everything. To Love-a verb-use it every day of your life.

  • what is the piano piece at the end?

  • Esaa foi uma obra prima do cinema.

    Assim como henry Mancini deveria

    ser etrnizado pelas suas obras.

  • This is one of my all-time favorite movies. I got to see this at the theatre when it came out in 1970. But I've never read the book. I just ordered it. I hope the book was just as good as the movie.

  • i really need to tell you, that when i first read the book(without having seeing the movie) i cried as much as when i saw it after a couple of years!

  • Really. That reminds me I'd better go to the library and reorder it again. It wasn't available at the time. I can't wait to read it. If you like I'll let you know how I like the book.

  • I would be glad to know how did you find it! but i m sure you are going to love it!! :)

  • Es la historia de amor, mas emotiva, real e insuperable de todos los tiempos. Excelente ! Lloré todas las lágrimas, of course !

  • The saddest movie ever...

  • I've forgotten this film since long time! But, never forget the last words "Love means never having you are sorry!!!!!! That really touched my heart.

  • "Love means never having to say your sorry".............such a wonderful line!

  • @loukywmn Well... on the other hand: if you hurt someone you love, you should say sorry, shouldn't you? I think Lisa Simpson is right about this line... ;) But I like the movie. :)

  • @RandomCoolNick I saw the movie when it came out and the line doesn't mean 'sorry' as in apologizing. It means never saying you are sorry for the experience of love...with all its ups and downs.

  • @blkchk WOW...How did you figure that out? Because I never would have gotten that from the line and the context of the scene...but it makes sense. Thanks

  • @Born2bRedeemed This movie was talked about ad nauseum when it came out. I always understood it to mean that and it makes sense in the context of the movie. If you loved someone you knew was going to die, would you stop loving that person? Or would you make every moment count? And, in looking back, would you say you were sorry for the experience? That's the theme of the movie.

  • @blkchk Oh, ok. The way it was explained to me was that if you love someone, truly love someone, and you hurt them, you know that you are forgiven, even before you say you're sorry. That is true love....knowing that you are forgiven even before saying you're sorry. That's how I took it.

  • @blkchk ill take a biblical turn , love means that when you er you are preforgiven

  • @loukywmn Even more wonderful when you use the proper usage of "you're".

  • @loukywmn Such a dumb line
