  • brilliant anyone from liverpool like me would say this sound's like my mar typical scouser love it if they dont say it sound like my mar well they from fuck st helen's lol bye

  • nasty comment from Dylan fan

    : - )

  • You`re a fucking pristess ,go to hell ,you all ,cambada de fariseus.

  • EVERYBODY serves someone; it's just a fact. Think about it. Have another hit of heroin, John.

  • yes it is lennon, and anyone that knocks lennon really don't any thing about anything

  • Fake!!! This isn't John Lennon.

  • @62szabadsag Um. Yes it is.

  • @Mrgdh42 Is this a joke song?

  • Good therapy for John. No amount of money, fame, sex, drugs, religion is gonna bring back mother. But I agree with Dylan- You Gotta serve somebody. Name me someone who isn'ta parasite- and I'll go out and say a prayer for him.

  • Bob Dylan: We are all creatures of worship. If not god then something else...

John Lennon: Rubbish, I beleive in me. I only serve myself! Hell, I even worship myself... oh, wait...

  • Bob Dylan:Gotta Serve Somebody

    John Lennon:Serve Yourself

  • Somewhat Underrated lyrics

  • John sold his soul to the devil. Watch the documentary "They sold their souls for rock and roll"

  • @NUMENOREAN91 That's bollocks mate, theres no such thing as the devil.

The only thing thats as bad as the so called devil is the government. And they killed him.

  • ha ha. Fair enough.

  • Love it! Thank God for John Lennon. ;D

  • This is a response to "Gotta Serve Somebody" by Bob Dylan. Remember, Dylan encouraged The Beatles to be individuals.

  • @brideofabull Dylan also introduced The Beatles to drugs! lol Thanks Bob.

  • If only he were alive today

  • ah, so goddamn funny!

  • we k now who's not a big Lennon fAn

  • Lennon was light years beyond Dylan, no doubt

  • @johnmitchel1958 WHAT!? are you mad? when Lennon was singing teenage love songs, dylan was writing amazing forward thinking stuff. Lennon even admitted that it was Dylan who encouraged him to write seriously. Lennon caught up in the 70's but there's no way he was "light years beyond Dylan".

  • @elephantstone222 Yeah these people are mad! they don't know who influanced who! BUT Lennon did't catch on in the 70's not that late it was in 1964 when The Beatles wrote songs like I'm a loser on The Beatles for sale & then on HELP like You got to hide your love away!

  • this is 1975

  • @sillyduffers Really? Lennon was responding, in 1975, to a Dylan song that came out in 1979? Lennon really was god I guess.

  • He bases one of the verses on As Time Goes By (the song from the movie Casablanca) the verse that starts "It's still the same old story..."

  • so sad you can only liked once :(

  • LEGEND!!!!

  • As a fellow scoucer and beatles, lennon fan. this is a funny song as in laughin, because hes takin the piss, out of everyone, done with a strong scouse accent.and sung the way scousers would laugh at esp the lar bit. as in mate.classic. MISS HIM BIG TIME.

  • what a funny man

  • I've just realised how brilliant the guitar riff under this song is. Simple and aggressive, pretty much perfect.

    And bloody difficult to play!

  • mockery is not oppression. In fact, it is a sign of the opposite

  • Brilliant! Why didn't he release it?! :(

  • he is doing it in a proper scouse accent. he aint makin fun of n e 1. its class!!!

  • Mr peace and love John Lennon not so tolerant of religious folk. And before people respond he is just having a little fun - it doesn't change the fact that deep down he has has resentments to those with faith.

  • @jtravis282 he's not alone. some of us were persecuted by people of certain religions and he was one of them.

  • @kitty9tales What persecution did Lennon suffer and what religion did this to him?

If someone is the victim of intolerance, he shouldn't then lower himself to their level by becoming intolerant.

  • @jtravis282 What is the main religion around Liverpoole?

and it's okay for us to hate those who persecute and torment us. sometimes the hatred is our best weapon of self-defense against it. Unless you were forced to practice a religion you don't believe in, you just don't understand the harm it can do

  • @kitty9tales The Beatles explored religions, like eastern philosophies, that's why I asked which religion persecuted? So what persecution did Lennon suffer under the Church?

He's mocking Dylan for his beliefs, that shows intolerance, there's no excuse for that.

  • @jtravis282 there is if Dylan got intolerant towards John. I'm intolerant of religions that display intolerance as part of their code of behavior.

  • @jtravis282 there is if Dylan got intolerant towards John. I'm intolerant of religions that display intolerance as part of their code of behavior. Lennon had the Church organize burnings and threats to kill him. He suffered under the Church.

  • @kitty9tales He got death threats from people for his comments about Jesus. The Church didn't tell anyone to do that. If u can burn draft cards, why not albums, it's a form of protest.

"I'm intolerant of religions that display intolerance as part of their code of behavior."

I will give you credit for admitting that you lower yourself to the same level as those that show intolerance. As for Lennon, a man who preaches peace love and tolerance is being a hypocrite when it comes to Dylan.

  • @jtravis282 the Church didn't do it, but Jesus's fan club exhibits bad behavior in his name all the time. I've never heard Lennon preach tolerance myself.

I also don't see how responding to someone in song is being 'intolerant.' It's a better response then the death threats, burnings and the KKK bragging how they're a terrorist orginization. (We don't like terrorist in this country anymore)

I don't consider protesting a domineering religion to be 'intolerant.' It's standing up

  • @kitty9 I don't know of any religion and I'll include atheists that didn't have fans that didn't exhibit bad behavior in the name of their religious/non-religious beliefs.

So it's ok for me to mock a Muslim because some of their fanatics flew planes into buildings. Or I can be intolerant to atheists cause of Stalin.

See there really is no difference between you or John Lennon or the KKK. Not saying you are as extreme, but you all show intolerance, you just point it in different directions

  • @jtravis282 I'd say yes, it's okay to fear a people who fly planes into buildings and don't speak out against it.

What about religous folk being intolerant of people their god tells them to hate? Like gays, which get the most flack but I've had some tell me non-christians like me shouldn't even be allowed to hold a job. That's bs. and they're fighting for their right to be intolerant lately too claiming that if they can't persecute gays, they aren't being allowed to practice their faith.

  • @kitty9tales I didn't ask if you should fear, I asked if you should mock. In other words should you mock a muslim that had nothing to do with terrorism? I don't know of any Christians that say non-Christians should not be allowed to hold a job. Though I know a lawyer who lost a gay client when he found out he was married.

All I see is someone that is engaging in stereotyping in order to rationalize their hate.

  • @jtravis282 Just because you didn't see it doesn't mean it doesn't exist. I've dealt with it and since you've never dealt with such persecution, you just can never understand it. I don't need to rationalize my hate. I was tortured and I hate my torturers. Period. No rationalization needed. It's you who can't face such things may have happened and are trying to rationalize it away.

I mock muslims because they have mocked people like me in indonesia.

  • @kitty9tales I don't take sides and I don't persecute or condone persecutions. My point is simple, the oppressed should not become the oppressors.

  • @jtravis282

Atheism isn't a belief, it's the absence of belief. Don't try to lump atheism in with religion.

  • Comment removed

  • @subg88 Atheism is the belief in the absence of belief in a higher power creating the universe; God. Atheism is a religion.

God : the creator and ruler of the universe.

re·li·gion: belief concerning the cause, nature, and purpose of the universe.

a·the·ism: The doctrine or belief that there is no God.

be·lief : an opinion or conviction

  • @fyschee Atheism is the lack of a beleif.

  • @jtravis282 Some of "those with faith" held record burnings festivals against him. One of them took it even further.

  • If you think this is funny, think again...

  • John, like Paulie, was very keen on imitations! This one is a great one of Bobby!

  • man this song is not hilarious, this song is excelent!

  • JOHN, Fucking brilliant !!

  • but, in "Grow old with me" he is singing "God bless our love, God bless our love." A little contradiction he had in his mind.

  • I could listen to John Lennon say fuck all day

  • You gotta serve yourself, ain't nobody gonna do it for you

  • Excellent

  • I love John Lennon and I Love Bob Dylan, but Lennon's right and Bob brought this on himself. :) love the strong scouse accent

  • Isn't he saying Save Yourself?

  • I'd never heard this before. This is hilarious. Why are you guys so upset? He's just doing a parody. It's funny!

  • GOD SINGING ABOUT GOD, YOU BETTER BELIEVE IT LADS!!!

  • great and very original performance

  • great and very original performance

  • never quite understood why everyone bitches about this song.

    1. John was just having fun...

    2. He's from Liverpool (thats all I have to say.)

  • This IS John, his voice changed constantly, depending on what he was ingesting. ;)

  • I always thought Dylan's "Serve Somebody" was a long overdue response to Lennon's God, when Lennon said he didn't believe in Zimmerman, and that he only believes in himself.

  • John is my Favorite crazy man<3

  • This isn't John.

  • @Reaver4k this is John, actually...

  • @Reaver4k lol it is... ;p

  • John kept it simple

thats why he found so much great stuff,,

    RIP Johnny you hip fucker,,,

no one compares with this super scouse mother !!!

  • sounds like "save yourself" not "serve yourself"

  • @luigiman77 liverpool accent lad!

  • @luigiman77 Hes making fun of Dylans accent while making fun of Dylan's song "Gotta Serve Somebody"

  • @DavidCastoe He is not making fun of Dylan, sorry. First of all, Dylan does not sound like a Liverpudlian, and he's obviously upset as he is mentioning his mother. His mother died when he was very young.

  • fuck a n ice comment hahaha

  • lol

  • Vicious, self-centered, mean-spirited. Typical Lennon. When it really comes down to it, I think this was really his philosophy.

  • stupid cunt , go listen to turds like oasis, u2, jarvis cock head and blur then pal ,, this is too potent for anuses like you

  • @spadge321 Lennon, is that you? Sure sounds like him!

  • marie , your a square baby ,, eat my stools lar !

  • can't believe how someone can dislike this. fucking intense, it's awesome

  • Good grief, what an arrogant, mean-spirited rant this song is. John Lennon was a musical genius, but I think it's clear the man had some issues.

  • and what do you know , what did you ever create ,, twat ,, it is a sketch ,, you never wrote a song arse face so what the fuck are you talking about ,, your outta your depth !

  • Typical. Dylan's songs are meaningful and deep, Lennon's bigoted secularism causes him to come to the defense of unbelief.

  • oh lar dee dar ,, oh lar dee darh ,, oh hoity toity dwarling - Dylan was in awe of Lennon you fuckin idiot ,, you think Dylan aint got a sense of humour ,, i can see you have'nt ,, sad article

  • @Theologica37 Since when does not liking fairy tales make you a bigot?

  • @Theologica37 Not all of us who aren't into Christianity don't believe. some of us are polytheist and many atheist are humanist who work hard for charity.

  • YOURSELF...Blame yourself & pat yourself on the back. You r a part of this world...Quit blaming others...change Yourself.. This Is RT ON!!!!!

  • ...

I love John Lennon's music but sometimes i hate him. The type of religion he describes there is extremely mad. I believe in Jesus, not in the church...

  • @Borntorun94 hypochristian! hate isn't something you're supposed to do, bro.

  • @Borntorun94 I'm sure Lennon knew that. He wasn't stupid.

  • @Borntorun94 before you believe in the church, you better free your mind instead :D

  • @Borntorun94 a hateful Christian huh? Man I love what humans come up with, its so absurd sometimes

  • Wow, both gotta serve somebody and serve yourself are horrible songs. I seriously can't listen to any one of them all the way through. But I'd have to say Lennon's takes the cake for the more annoying one. At least Bob's is a "bloody fookin" real song, John.

  • @IC4L it's a demo u twat-not for release,just him having a laugh

  • Lots of interesting opinions on JWL AND this song.......my query: Is it true that when he wrote IMAGINE he had a special room set aside where he kept his fur coats at the exact temperature he liked to wear them. This room was temperature controlled & used exclusively for his fur coats only. When I heard this story I was gobsmacked but can anyone verify this.

  • this is the friggin best song ever i wish it was like officially

  • and i love the laugh at the end

  • @KellanLutzishawt its on The John Lennon Anthology

  • " Lucky to have a pair of shoes?" Lennon lived in the middle class section of LIverpool. What a load of shit. He's pretending to be socially lower than he was.

  • @ThisVideoGetsMeMoist hes not saying he was poor-i could be in the middle class and feel lucky because im in the middle class and not in a lower class

  • @ThisVideoGetsMeMoist I kinda agree with u there. I've been to Mendips (John's childhood home) and it looks better than my house. And that was supposed to be poor n hungry post war Liverpool where sugar n other foodstuffs were rare. I dunno. Maybe he didn't have everything he wanted BUT I don't really believe he NEEDED for anything that wasn't essential or necessary to be alive n well.

  • @forgetfull40 grow up

  • @forgetfull40 your funny

  • @forgetfull40 It was just for laughs, wasn't meant to be released anyway, but you know Yoko...

  • xD. <3

  • Lennon's a GENIUS.....I say that in the PRESENT Tense because HIS Music LIVES on and we can listen and interpret his songs in our own way.....BUT it seems to me a lot of ppl here have missed the point completely. This is obviously a humourous "rant" at just about everything in our world.......CONSUMERISM , POLITICS , MODERN ATTITUDES , RELIGION , CAPITALISM , WAR etc..... BUT within the exaggerated delivery something thought provoking comes through which is very powerful.

  • It's a rant he wrote after watching the born again bob dylan perform 'you gotta seve somebody' on tv. as well as his son Julian always asking him for money to buy cars, It was written around 1978-80 when lennon didn't give a crap about captilism or politics as he was too busy spending heaps of money on property to sit around and do nothing in all day.

  • @ryso11 Your post is ironic b'coz saying he didn't give a crap about capitalism BUT was then spending heaps of money on property seems to be a contradiction in terms. Only Capitalists spend "heaps of money" on property. Poor people don't have the money and are too busy trying to survive day to day. But I know what you're driving at with your comment.

  • @theselector Yeah, my bad.

  • @theselector dude, quote of the year there man. trophy and all.

  • @NiGhtMarEs0nWax Cheers......BUT do I sense a hint of sarcasm there?

  • @theselector nah 'cos I was thinking the exact same thing then read your comment. :) quite rare on youtube I might add.

  • @theselector i also think it was a type of response to one of his influences no doubt, bob dylan's - gotta serve somebody.

  • @theselector it's in response to Bob Dylan's song Gotta Serve Somebody, Bob was a born-again Christian.

  • @theselector i agree 100%

  • @nNewDylan..NO THANKS MAN, I NEED NO OTHER HUMANISTIC BOOKS, I ALREADY FOUND MY WAY AND IT CHANGED MY LIFE........Psalm 19:130The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple.

  • aint no room service ere fuckfaces

  • fuckin bloody pious preachy christians make me fuckin sick mate. fuckin love him humbly and quietly if u do so, don't go on about some unprovable damnation and shit. your faith, not mine. is what lennon was saying, so shut yer trap yer pious ass, and give a grin, cos the REAL christ, the Rebel, woulda loved this shit and loved Lennon too, so fuck the fuck orf.

  • @baiowulf ...here here. 'The Jesus Project' an academic study of what Jesus actually said basically concluded he was more like a humanist dissident, he never once said he was the son of God. - (see 'philosophy bites' podcast "jesus as philosopher" )

  • i dont see this a laugh at dylans expence. its very scouse jokin and deeper than that. more laughing at the idea of finding religion and realising its your mum who you need to think about. its your mum who suffers, more than jesus, more than anyone. people dont realise this, coz you dont see your mum in pain when your being born. And maybe someone said to him once.

  • and the love you take is equal to the love you made.. still true.....no matter what

  • jesus died for you john lennon

yes well john lennon died because of you america

from num 1 lennon fan scouser adam

  • john you are a positive soul no matter what the so called born agains think of you.... your music will play on until we are all dead too. serve yourself ! : ) laugh sometime you bloody religious freaks.

  • you talking to a dead man in a comment section on youtube?? goddamn bunch of fucking nutjobs on here

  • He's just having a laugh.

  • How ironic Jesus died died babdy too.

  • OK.....my ears are melting....LOLOL

  • one thing that lennon didnt understood is that no one can get away mocking the Lord Jesus!..this song was a response from Dylan`s you go to serve somebody..Lennon song is a hymn to egotistical priciples no wonder he lived a tragical life!..and the love you take is equal to the love you made..how truth is that in his life and ironic! ! ! ! self love!!!

  • i mock jesus, i mock christianity, and do u know why? cuz its fuckin stupid and ignorant. meanwhile christians mock everyone and everything thats not "christian" so go fuck yourself u silly christer.

  • @ElmoLewiss Obviously you haven't listened very closely coz he just doesn't mention Jesus BUT also Buddha , Mohamed , Krishna , The Pope AND Religion in General. He also talks about Politics , War , Marx , Marks & Spencer (Consumerism and Capitalism) etc.....etc....Remember it's NOT The Messenger It's The Mesage that's important......so don't kill the Messenger just as they killed Lennon , Jesus , Martin Luther King and many others. Peace

  • @ceciliom ...true it was a response to Dylan's perceived betrayal of free thought (as opposed to servile bible swallowing). But it took on a life of it's own ... cathartic ranting.

Awesome... Lennon rocks, God is dead.

  • @ceciliom ..if you want to get some intelligent christian arguments...try reading Spinoza.

  • ha ha

  • JohnLydon influence in Lennon's voice here?

  • As a Christian and a big Dylan fan I must say I love this song. very human, very humane and expresses the pain and confusion of being in this world. Great humour too.

  • This is pure Liverpool. Nothing to do with Dylan.

  • yee la pure liverpool indeed got the sound ofthe zutons in parts

  • John u are a God!!

  • so are you

  • @meliachild i think elmolewiss is makin way too much testosterone for his own good

  • Save urself Laaaaa - legend!!!

  • This is the best song I have ever heard. I'm going to sing it for all the christo-fascists out there someday.

  • have you ever heard any other music before?

  • check out "dear god" by xtc. another good one

  • damn I see all these people here writing essay

  • What do you think of the song pal?

  • @ElmoLewiss lol, i always think that when i see ppl say that... "We only want to hear your opinion if you agree with us"

  • @ElmoLewiss ohh what a bad boy!

  • said like a proper scouser!

  • Yep, this song proves that john was against truth.

  • Really? Which version do you prefer?

  • how many versions of truth are there? do you think truth doesnt exist?

  • lennon on punk

    awesome

  • "What about his murder" So! I don't care. John's life isn't my concerned. He died and he's gone. Move on.

But, the his life and trials is continuing to interest alot of people around to world, including me.

So say what you what because we fans are want to know about the man because many people will write or tell about him and Yoko. Good and bad. Conversiall or not.

We are interesting in John's life, not his death.

  • this is halarious!!!!!

    this is john havin' fun

    rest in peace lennon

  • It's tragic that John was not a happier camper....esp given the impact he and The Beatles have had on mankind. Before becoming rich and famous he had lost his best friend Stu Sufcliffe to a brain hemorage after losing his mother in a car crash after losing his father to divorce. First he was given the "choice" of living with his mom or dad. So he spent much of his life confused and blamed God. Personally, only JC can get u thru life's worst times with real peace, love, and joy.

  • Right. John influnced on Ono and her cult more than Jesus. he was misable and confused.

I blame Ono and their "primary theropy"

John knows the Bible. I was suprised in the Newsweek in 1980 interview that he spent hours and years to get the parables in the Bible, but he finally gets it.

In the radio, he struggled to say "thank god" if you listen to him during the interview.

    John was obessed with Jesus.
