This 6-part series is really only 1/4 of the entire documentary. I highly recommend watching the entire film, as it explains many of the things that are not clear or are hard to swallow in this film.

My parents, who only have basic high school educations, were able to buy all kinds of toys from cars to luxury renovations through out their lives. Thanks to my parents worthless investments, which they hardley use and still say it was done for their children, my sibilings and I were forced to drop out of college just so we can survive. Now I am 29 unemployed and still considered spoiled by our older generations.

Agree: The Century of the Self is an excellent documentary. I felt horrible when I first watched it, but it changed the way I see things. I was shocked to learn that Goebbels kept Bernays' book in his back pocket and based the nazi propaganda on its principles.

What would be the effect on people if they watched it? Do you think they'd want to wake up and face reality?

Yes, but there are insightful people in all facets of society, many like us using this knowledge to try to enlighten others. Bernays sold out his insight to manipulate society, but such mass persuasion could only be done if there is in existence an entity (whether a government or corporation) that has sufficient capital to implement a publicity campaign on such a mass scale. The corporations that Bernays represented had such advantages.
