Occupy --You have revived our political passions. In this complex unity we say yes to life, to community, to free education, to equality, to creativity, imagination, hope and the future. Thanks Angela, Thanks mic check!
@yrbabuena Its because they don't have a mic and is not allowed to use a mega-phone. So its called "Mic Check" the speaker will say something and the audience will repeat it back just to let the speaker know he/she was heard. This is done all over the country/maybe globally where protesters are occupying. Hope I was of some help to you.
@knowledgeispowerfful TY. Understood. A dangerous, probematic practice! At what price? People repeating the speaker focuses them on memorizing, repeating what speaker says, timing in unison w/others. That means far less focus on what is being said & thinking critically/questioning it. I make a pt. of listening to every speaker for pts. of disagreement. This preserves intellectual independence & prevents falling into trap of adopting bad ideas. Doesn't prevent agreeing w/helpful ideas.
