The Brazil follows the Keynesian doctrine, and the Brazilian state regulates banking activity to prevent speculative excesses, invests in public works, and the result is there, we're the country of the Western Hemisphere that has attracted most investment in 2010, I add the second largest economy of the americas, we left the crisis, poverty took 38 million people, and we are growing this year we have an election 8 %..... quiet this year and did not turn communist...
I am sad to see some Americans ignorant to say that any government aid to the poor is soon branded a communist .. my god .. they are stupid ... Read John Maynard Keynes (English economist) and "General Theory of Employment Interest and currency, " which holds that the state should instead regulate and intervene in the economy to avoid the predatory instincts of capitalism ... the U.S. had to get out of this depression of 29 and lived a great period of prosperity .... Brazil;)
the reason why we have high poverty and terrible health insurance is one simple powerful word GREED. usa govt is greedy and corrupt. i wish i lived somewhere else.

Americans you are a disgrace to let minorities suffer like this in this video.
America you are looked upon in Europe as a 3rd world nation as far as health care and help to the poor.
All you bloody Yanks care about is stuffing your FAT American guts with as much food as you can and have fun with your IPODS, IPADS, and PS3s. YOu could give a shit less about the poor and suffering in your own country.
You USA people disgust me and I call you out here in public on your indifference to the poor.
You Americans are a disgrace to the bloody world. Of ALL people you should have had a National Health Service decades ago. You are a bent ass Nation of wackos.
You shout and and say to the World how GREAT you are?......pathetic.
I read that 6 MILLION children in the USA are without access to a doctor or ANY Health care at all!
Does that make you PROUD you daft USA people? Does that make you want to get out your ratty ass American Flag and wave it back and forth and sing "God Bless America"?
You are making quite a lot of accusations about quite a lot of people you don't even know. What, you watch some news and read an article and you think you know something about the world? Who the do you think you are? I mean, I could do the same shit and ask why you aren't standing up to the UK government who is practically letting the UK fall to Islam. However, I stray away from making idiotic generalizations about an entire group of people.
Yeah yeah mate just attack us in the UK and IGNORE the issue at hand here - mainly that 6 MILLION American Children have NO HEALTH CARE at all.
Are you proud of that mate? Are you ready to wave you shitty ass American Flag over that fact and be patriotic?
The fact that you feel FINE and DANDY with so many innocent American children going without Health Care says a LOT about your personal character and morals.
FIX your own house mate before you condemn others.
Yeah, and assuming I'm an American right off the bat says a LOT about your intelligence. Even IF I was an American, what do you propose I do (as a single individual) about the country's predicament? So far, you claim I'm American, you claim I'm feeling "fine and dandy," and you think you know my personal character and morals because of a paragraph I wrote on youtube. Haha, yeah, you sure know a lot about nothing. Way to go, dipshit.
Well, when you get sick and are unable to afford your Health Care then maybe you might get some compassion for your fellow man. But I doubt it. That takes character and morals.
Until then just keep being stupid and cursing people on You Tube as usual.
What should I be feeling guilty of? Oh, "dipshit"? Yeah, maybe that was a little harsh but it's a word I use. Actually, the "truth" I see here is accusation after accusation made by an individual who has never met me before but claims to know my morals and character based off a paragraph of text that I wrote on Youtube.
Well. I just see another ignorant and crude American who knows no other way to express themselves than on a juvinile High School level.
Your character is plain for all to see here. Your callous and brutish disregard for the sufferings for your own countrymen are evidence enough of your low character and morals. You prove my own point. I thank you.
I do not like to see Americans suffer like the ones in the video. You think it is funny and A OK.
NolanRogers2, you are a complete and utterly stupid human being. How many times have I said I am not a U.S. citizen? I don't live in the United States, and in fact, no where remotely close to that country. Oh, and for the record, you haven't made a valid point for me to prove because you're taking everything I write out of context and making juvenile (correct spelling) assumptions about me, not to mention you judge a nation of people after watching a video. You need help dude.
HAHAHA! Exactly the answer I expected. Yes, alas, I'll set aside this charade. I am really a 12 year old on my momma's computer, living in some suburb of West Virginia, talking shit to a butt hurt hypocritical British tard who can't think of anything better to do than to write a comeback nearly verbatim of mine because his vocabulary is too small. Hahahaha, I never told you my nationality you idiot. You assumed. Anyway, good luck with all the muslims invading the UK.
Who are you talking to? Yourself or to me because none of that pertains to what we were talking about you tard. You didn't hit the nail on anything. Haha, the "get a life" bit that I wrote about in my profile. Go read it and then come back with something that makes sense.
@NolanRogers2 I know! This is what I don't understand about some Americans. They don't care for their other countrymen. For some reason, some just want to care about themselves-- me, my family... then everyone else can suffer. they would rather use their money to hurt foreigners than help feed their own people. It's retarded thinking and it is puzzling.
@NolanRogers2 By americans your saying everyone in america how can you judge every american in this country?
Do you not think we hate the conditions we have don't you think people wave signs everywhere in america.Or are you so egotistical and one sided that you would laugh at someone whos dying or struggling to live. There are reasons to love and hate something majority don't want to feel suprior they just want to live in a wealthy state of mind your just being a jerk.
Only country not to have universal healthcare, and that is scary. I was brought up in America as a child and had great memories, but im Glad I live in the UK now where at least I know ill have healthcare without going broke.
lmfao!! hehe racism doesent help anything so those people using the word nigger to offend black people im not black americans im african and it doesent offend me coz im not the one living in denial im not the american whos eyes have lied to them americans arguing racism is no way to solve things have u seen the rezes u put the indians on both of u stop ben so selfish and help others this is why americans are hated so much..
fucking lazy ass niggers on welfare. look at them. they are strong, able-bodied, citizen men who play cards and sit on their porches all fucking day long instead of going out somewhere to work, while the working folks' tax dollars funds their food stamps. What a wonderful system huh
all you have to do is look at the wars that the usa is fighting to see where their priorities are. they would rather develop new ways of killing and enslaving countries than helping their own ppl. they dont have healthcare and the country is falling apart and yet they still spend billions of dollars on a war that was unjustified from the beginning. when the money dries up and they can borrow no more we'll see what happens
America is the richest because people have to go out and achieve their wealth by themselves. If given to them, we would not have the mentality it takes to achieve. What I don't understand is how there are Illegal Imagrants who come here and can make enough money to do pretty well, and these people who live here can not. Pick up a damn hammer, go pick fruit, find a job. The opportunity is there for those who seek it.
If that's your solution to the countries poverty problems it's clear that you really have no idea what's really going on. Your that person that drives the streets of the nice neighborhoods and says to yourself "it's not that bad." Try looking at the world beyond the tip of your nose and you'll be surprised with what you find
I am the person who started with nothing and became something with the same oppurtunities afforded to any other American, Tell me, what is your solution to poverty?
I dont intend to discredit your hard work and making something from nothing. My frustrations lie in the fact that this country does have a legitimate homeless problem and the reasons for this is way too far spread for me to start suggesting my solutions here in this small box. I will say that many of the homeless are mentally handicapped, and not on the streets becuase they want to be. Depression placed upon someone that is in dire straights can be enough to keep them on the streets forever.
In fact, I would like to see a story on how one of these individuals so miserably failed in life as to wind up in poverty. Aside from disability or choice I quite honestly do not understand why any properly motivate American lives in on the street poverty.
I can totally understand homeless, mentally handicapped situations. But, this story isn't illustrating the handicapped, it's showing young to middle aged men with strong backs. Those are the ones I can't understand, setting aside layoffs and the hard economic times we live in today. I was illustrating earlier that if an illegal that can't speak English can get a job and prosper here, there is no reason they in the vid can't do the same.
More than a homeless man does. Aside from that, they dig pools, work as carpenters, lawn care, etc. You can call me a fool, but atleast you don't find a migrant living on a park bench. You know why? Because despite your cynicism, America is still the land of plenty for those who are willing to labor over it's crops.
ANYONE can critisize but the truth is ONLY those who have WALKED there can KNOWINGLY comment. extreme poverty in a land of Capitalism and stereotypes generates armchair politicians who would rather critisize than help. extreme poverty=feelings of helplessness, depression, sadness, exhaustion on a day to day level. We try to keep going against all odds but our Capitalistic govt. only really helps the rich
look at the mess of cans and shit under the porch at 2:27....and the girl is complaining about rats. Hey...I have an idea......clean out all that trash & garbage you dumped under the porch and maybe you might not have RATS anymore....
liberalization is driving this country to the ground. people need to be self supporting again and we need to QUIT OUTSOURCING OUR JOBS AND HANDING OUT MONEY TO THE PEOPLE WHO REFUSE TO WORK.
I believe that the Obama administration will help the poor, BUT the poor has to take responsibility also in trying to help themselves (get out of poverty). EDUCATION IS THE KEY. Obama needs to MAKE a "WORK FOR CHECK" POLICY meaning that people who are willing to get off their butts and work shouldn't collect a welfare check or food stamps. I'D BET YOU'LL SEE LINES AND LINES OF FOLKS APPLYING FOR WORK IN ORANGEBERG, SC.
What you say is true. However, in the US its not just the poor. 46.000.000 Americans are without insurance. Thats not because they hate themselves, but because ordinary hard working jobs with low pay is not enough.
Everyone cant be lawyers and engineers, some have to come pickup your trash, someone has to clean the floor in your school ect ect.
But now thats not enough anymore to get decent treatment:(
Yeah, I'm totally for responsibility and self-reliance, and education is usually the way to get there. But it's really expensive for a lot of people and a lot of American public schools quite frankly suck and don't prepare students well for college.
to meinside99: I totally agree with you....I can't imagine why so many people gave a thumbs down to your comment. It only makes sense if you have too many children...you will be poor
the world will always have poverty, because 20% of all people are not born with the drive it takes to get some where in life. it is a genetic miss cue, poverty will always be with us.
You're not that educated if your using racist derogatory terms like "wetback". And to also generalize all poor people as lazy,,,,thats just wrong,,,I feel sorry for you for being so ignorant..
Your country is growing the gap between poors and riches. That's the point. If you don't like poor people, ok, that's your problem. If you accept your country to become no-man land divided between millionaires and starving people... then you're idiot.
Few realize that the number of people living in poverty will triple in the next five years. The entire wealth of the country is being redistributed to private offshore multinational investment empires. The US has become an IMF property in foreclosure.
I have sympathy, trust me I do, but instead of just playing cards and living amongst rats, surely those adults could get up and clean - poverty yeah, but come on give yourself some standards - and oh yeah, they dont look starved to me. No replies please I dont acknowledge :))
can a country such as America really be qualified as rich? i mean they do have money but they are trillions dollars in dept, and i dont mean 1-2 trilliion dept, i mean, somewhere near 700,000,000,000
RICHEST COUNTRY... my ass .... I do not see THAT.... THE ELLITE is SUPER HYPER RICHER than anywhere else in the WORLD .... BUT people are POOR .... FUCK privately owned GOVERMENT ....
this happens when you are a neoliberal country, you might have the richests persons in the world, the larger GDP, the largest military expenditure, but there is a large sector that lives in poverty LONG LIVE WELFARE STATES
with complete deregulation in a capitalist "free market" system, people would become virtual slaves to capital and would be thrown on the street like garbage when incapable of cheap labor to pay of the interest accumulated from living.
You may remember what happened when Thatcher deregulated corporations. It was a nightmare that affected economies world wide. American corporations own our government and have such a sweet deal I don't believe they want a change.
Why do you think corporations benefit from free market? Why do they spend billions making sure it will never happen? Try to buy a cheaper drug from Mexico. Try to buy a cheaper health plan from another state. Try buy some food that Monsanto does not have a patent on.
you must be talking about some ideal free market that has never existed. unrestricted captial in a system based on conflict necissarily creates a downtrodden class to fufill the need for a cheap labor and dependant consumers. corporation, hedge funds, and their political advocates all benefit from deregulation in a free market system, it increases their abilty to exploit.
Ron Paul wants to return to a balance between the 3 branches and wants to end the power grab of the current administration. There is no evidence whatsoever that he will bypass congress on matters of economics and congress will not pass any free market legislation. If corporations wanted free markets they would not spend billions on campaigns and lobbyist trying to get and keep protectionist laws in place.
it would be much more likely to happen with a ardent libertarian as the president, a political role which has gained lots of strength in the past 7 years. the president also frames the budget, which is HIGHLY influential in determining what money will be spent where, and gives congress a starting point. congress will pass free market legislation, like nafta and the china trade deals.
nafta mexicos economy and hurts the US worker, while the corporate/investment elites cash in. deregulation through nafta and hedge funds has brought nothing but concentrated capital and the subversion of the ordinary american.
there is plenty of trade protectionsim and subsidies going to corporations and i do not congress to allow these to stop under a ron paul administration. essential ron paul's framing and policies will maximize the deregulation that corporate/investment-elite can only benefit from; when the tables are already tilted in their favor, like say in latin america.
even if everying was deregulated, i do not see tax refunds and to save the ordinary american individual from increasing concentrations of capital that would result from deregulation.
Dude, nafta's "free trade" involved sending heavily subsidized corn to a country with no subsides. If a trade agreement sends millions of mexicans into poverty because they are not subsidized I don't think you can call it free trade.
exactly, you need regulation to protect infant industry. that is how all industry has ever grown, by violating "free market" rules. from the britain, US, to china, korea, japan, etc.
I see this , and I just think of all the YouTube racist out there, and how SAD it is to be poor in America, and yet we just fight amongst ourselves instead of uniting to take over the system.
I'm tired of my people always making excuses for the reasons we are in the situation we are in. Slavery is a horrible part of Americas History but as some point People have to stop feeling sorry for themselves.
Poverty is NOT an Economic problem - it is a HUMAN Problem! Otherwise the richest nation in the world would have no poor people. Get it right: Economics is neither the cause of nor solution to everything!
i definately agree, people like to believe the fair tale that free market economics is a pure science with no moral character, so they do not have responsibility for its disasterous outcome. just look at the suffering, devastation, ridicuolous wealth, and greed it causes to see its moral character.
the united states isn't a free market..we have to buy medicine approved by the goverment ..thats not free market..Bayer asprin is what you get with corpratism..thats what you get in a collective society..all that "New Deal" stuff is communism and it wasn't always with us..
the "new deal" stuff is far from communism, it was something meant to appease the US public so they would not overthrow the failed deregulated "free markets" that came tumbling down with the rotten profit-drivent greed and fraud it created. "new deal" was welfare capitalism and was life support for a failed markets.
i do not buy the assumption that all human are evil and constantly trying to harm another for their own advantage, this is just a fairy tale plato came up with to justify his excess and elite status and it has become an excuse for the elite in western civilization to commit the biggest crimes the world has ever seen.
Poverty is relative. You wouldn't find people living under the conditions described in this video in countries like Germany or Switzerland. Maybe it's because Europeans realize that not not wanting to pay taxes means that you will also get nothing from the state.
another awesome report from aljazeera! none of the candidates is going to end poverty here. actually poverty will continue to grow here until a major revolution takes place in the system.
Ron Paul a doctor knows how to end poverty in the UNited States.Right now we pay the Federal Reserve 30million dollars an hour to rent the Federal Reserve Note.we can print our own money and give 30people a hour 1million dollars we are that rich of a nation..just right now we are giveing all our riches to Israel and FED.bush vetoed the childrens 7billion head start program the same day he sent Israel 10billion.
i agree with ron pauls basic stance towards the federal reserve, but disagree with the way he wants to achieve it. his ideas of liberty only apply to people wealthy enough for freedom in a system geared to create inequality.

one has to consider the following:
If a person is POOR then they have no business wasting money at FAST FOOD ESTABLISHMENTS
Being FAT is not healthy in the 1st place. cut down on the amount of food you eat you are obviously eating 2 much
It is not up to the “other” people in the world to look after each person who is too stupid to eat correctly
Put down the deck of cards for just 30 minutes and clean up your own F’ing yard

KeepAmericaFat 2 years ago
I am the person who started with nothing and became something with the same oppurtunities afforded to any other American, Tell me, what is your solution to poverty?
scrappmutt2 2 years ago
I dont intend to discredit your hard work and making something from nothing. My frustrations lie in the fact that this country does have a legitimate homeless problem and the reasons for this is way too far spread for me to start suggesting my solutions here in this small box. I will say that many of the homeless are mentally handicapped, and not on the streets becuase they want to be. Depression placed upon someone that is in dire straights can be enough to keep them on the streets forever.
KeepAmericaFat 2 years ago
In fact, I would like to see a story on how one of these individuals so miserably failed in life as to wind up in poverty. Aside from disability or choice I quite honestly do not understand why any properly motivate American lives in on the street poverty.
scrappmutt2 2 years ago
I can totally understand homeless, mentally handicapped situations. But, this story isn't illustrating the handicapped, it's showing young to middle aged men with strong backs. Those are the ones I can't understand, setting aside layoffs and the hard economic times we live in today. I was illustrating earlier that if an illegal that can't speak English can get a job and prosper here, there is no reason they in the vid can't do the same.

Yeah, crop laborers make a fortune.
Fool.
redrainjedi 2 years ago
More than a homeless man does. Aside from that, they dig pools, work as carpenters, lawn care, etc. You can call me a fool, but atleast you don't find a migrant living on a park bench. You know why? Because despite your cynicism, America is still the land of plenty for those who are willing to labor over it's crops.
scrappmutt2 2 years ago
ANYONE can critisize but the truth is ONLY those who have WALKED there can KNOWINGLY comment. extreme poverty in a land of Capitalism and stereotypes generates armchair politicians who would rather critisize than help. extreme poverty=feelings of helplessness, depression, sadness, exhaustion on a day to day level. We try to keep going against all odds but our Capitalistic govt. only really helps the rich

liberalization is driving this country to the ground. people need to be self supporting again and we need to QUIT OUTSOURCING OUR JOBS AND HANDING OUT MONEY TO THE PEOPLE WHO REFUSE TO WORK.

DSkeptic86 2 years ago
I believe that the Obama administration will help the poor, BUT the poor has to take responsibility also in trying to help themselves (get out of poverty). EDUCATION IS THE KEY. Obama needs to MAKE a "WORK FOR CHECK" POLICY meaning that people who are willing to get off their butts and work shouldn't collect a welfare check or food stamps. I'D BET YOU'LL SEE LINES AND LINES OF FOLKS APPLYING FOR WORK IN ORANGEBERG, SC.
DSkeptic86 2 years ago
What you say is true. However, in the US its not just the poor. 46.000.000 Americans are without insurance. Thats not because they hate themselves, but because ordinary hard working jobs with low pay is not enough.
Everyone cant be lawyers and engineers, some have to come pickup your trash, someone has to clean the floor in your school ect ect.
But now thats not enough anymore to get decent treatment:(
jotunPIKK 2 years ago 2
Yeah, I'm totally for responsibility and self-reliance, and education is usually the way to get there. But it's really expensive for a lot of people and a lot of American public schools quite frankly suck and don't prepare students well for college.

Generalising the poor is in my opinion foolish.
Yes I agree to an extent but there are cases where families are forced below the breadline was simply out of their control.

You're not that educated if your using racist derogatory terms like "wetback". And to also generalize all poor people as lazy,,,,thats just wrong,,,I feel sorry for you for being so ignorant..

"Proud educated native american female"?
Where the hell did your education go?
Your country is growing the gap between poors and riches. That's the point. If you don't like poor people, ok, that's your problem. If you accept your country to become no-man land divided between millionaires and starving people... then you're idiot.
rafaelsouzasp79 2 years ago
Few realize that the number of people living in poverty will triple in the next five years. The entire wealth of the country is being redistributed to private offshore multinational investment empires. The US has become an IMF property in foreclosure.

tuzachih 4 years ago
with complete deregulation in a capitalist "free market" system, people would become virtual slaves to capital and would be thrown on the street like garbage when incapable of cheap labor to pay of the interest accumulated from living.
jklasdfjdfksl 4 years ago
You may remember what happened when Thatcher deregulated corporations. It was a nightmare that affected economies world wide. American corporations own our government and have such a sweet deal I don't believe they want a change.
crazycatfguy 4 years ago
Why do you think corporations benefit from free market? Why do they spend billions making sure it will never happen? Try to buy a cheaper drug from Mexico. Try to buy a cheaper health plan from another state. Try buy some food that Monsanto does not have a patent on.
crazycatfguy 4 years ago
you must be talking about some ideal free market that has never existed. unrestricted captial in a system based on conflict necissarily creates a downtrodden class to fufill the need for a cheap labor and dependant consumers. corporation, hedge funds, and their political advocates all benefit from deregulation in a free market system, it increases their abilty to exploit.
jklasdfjdfksl 4 years ago
consumer savings and a tax refund for the ordinary worker is not enough to provide a basis for a decent life.
jklasdfjdfksl 4 years ago
Ron Paul wants to return to a balance between the 3 branches and wants to end the power grab of the current administration. There is no evidence whatsoever that he will bypass congress on matters of economics and congress will not pass any free market legislation. If corporations wanted free markets they would not spend billions on campaigns and lobbyist trying to get and keep protectionist laws in place.
crazycatfguy 4 years ago
it would be much more likely to happen with a ardent libertarian as the president, a political role which has gained lots of strength in the past 7 years. the president also frames the budget, which is HIGHLY influential in determining what money will be spent where, and gives congress a starting point. congress will pass free market legislation, like nafta and the china trade deals.
jklasdfjdfksl 4 years ago
nafta mexicos economy and hurts the US worker, while the corporate/investment elites cash in. deregulation through nafta and hedge funds has brought nothing but concentrated capital and the subversion of the ordinary american.
jklasdfjdfksl 4 years ago
there is plenty of trade protectionsim and subsidies going to corporations and i do not congress to allow these to stop under a ron paul administration. essential ron paul's framing and policies will maximize the deregulation that corporate/investment-elite can only benefit from; when the tables are already tilted in their favor, like say in latin america.
jklasdfjdfksl 4 years ago
even if everying was deregulated, i do not see tax refunds and to save the ordinary american individual from increasing concentrations of capital that would result from deregulation.
jklasdfjdfksl 4 years ago
Dude, nafta's "free trade" involved sending heavily subsidized corn to a country with no subsides. If a trade agreement sends millions of mexicans into poverty because they are not subsidized I don't think you can call it free trade.
crazycatfguy 4 years ago 2
exactly, you need regulation to protect infant industry. that is how all industry has ever grown, by violating "free market" rules. from the britain, US, to china, korea, japan, etc.

i definately agree, people like to believe the fair tale that free market economics is a pure science with no moral character, so they do not have responsibility for its disasterous outcome. just look at the suffering, devastation, ridicuolous wealth, and greed it causes to see its moral character.
jklasdfjdfksl 4 years ago
the united states isn't a free market..we have to buy medicine approved by the goverment ..thats not free market..Bayer asprin is what you get with corpratism..thats what you get in a collective society..all that "New Deal" stuff is communism and it wasn't always with us..
YadaYadaguy 4 years ago
the "new deal" stuff is far from communism, it was something meant to appease the US public so they would not overthrow the failed deregulated "free markets" that came tumbling down with the rotten profit-drivent greed and fraud it created. "new deal" was welfare capitalism and was life support for a failed markets.

i do not buy the assumption that all human are evil and constantly trying to harm another for their own advantage, this is just a fairy tale plato came up with to justify his excess and elite status and it has become an excuse for the elite in western civilization to commit the biggest crimes the world has ever seen.
jklasdfjdfksl 4 years ago
Poverty is relative. You wouldn't find people living under the conditions described in this video in countries like Germany or Switzerland. Maybe it's because Europeans realize that not not wanting to pay taxes means that you will also get nothing from the state.

another awesome report from aljazeera! none of the candidates is going to end poverty here. actually poverty will continue to grow here until a major revolution takes place in the system.
sgelles 4 years ago 2
Ron Paul a doctor knows how to end poverty in the UNited States.Right now we pay the Federal Reserve 30million dollars an hour to rent the Federal Reserve Note.we can print our own money and give 30people a hour 1million dollars we are that rich of a nation..just right now we are giveing all our riches to Israel and FED.bush vetoed the childrens 7billion head start program the same day he sent Israel 10billion.
YadaYadaguy 4 years ago
i agree with ron pauls basic stance towards the federal reserve, but disagree with the way he wants to achieve it. his ideas of liberty only apply to people wealthy enough for freedom in a system geared to create inequality.
