A beautiful melody spoiled by a piano player trying to show how clever he is......
He doesn't know what SPACE is !! It's just an ego trip and not musical until the final 16 bars. 'Space' in a performance is just as important as the 'Notes'.....
@TheProf08 I fear you have missed the point somewhere. What's great about Jarrett is that he never 'tries to show' anything, he just effortlessly plays. I found his whole performance on this clip riveting, his phrases are so lyrical, elegant and eloquent, not to mention his great time and swing feel. Having said all this, when I first started listening to Jarrett I didn't see what all the fuss was about. Give him a few more listens and I guarantee his brilliance will reveal itself to you.
@TOMPDUDE "The whole frightful responsibility for this terrible Thirty Years' War [1618-1648] must rest upon the [Holy Roman] Emperor Ferdinand II, and his teachers, rulers, and bosom friends -- the Sons of Loyola [i.e., the Jesuit Order]."
@TOMPDUDE "Today they [i.e., the Jesuits] are stronger in the United States than they ever were in any of the countries of Europe which expelled them as a menace to the government." (1912)
@TOMPDUDE "Above all I have learned from the Jesuits. And so did Lenin too, as far as I recall. The world has never known anything quite so splendid as the hierarchical structure of the [Roman] Catholic Church. There were quite a few things I simply appropriated from the Jesuits for the use of the [Nazi] Party.
@TOMPDUDE "The Jesuits...are simply the Romish army for the earthly sovereignty of the world in the future, with the Pontiff of Rome for emperor...that's their ideal. ...It is simple lust of power, of filthy earthly gain, of domination -- something like a universal serfdom with them [i.e., the Jesuits] as masters -- that's all they stand for. They don't even believe in God perhaps."
Fyodor Dostoyevsky (1821-1881; famous Russian novelist)
@mangacharlus That is beautifully said, and I'd like to add another point of view. All true masters show us possibility, not for comparison, but to prove to us that infinity can be reached. Their attainment is a metaphor, lighting the way to our uniqueness which is found within. This video allows me to see the love flowing through them, as I experience the joy of being part of the beautiful, strong, flowing sound I hear.
this "music" is so vain, pretentious, and damn talkative - he does not know silence in music, well there is no music without silence

@TheProf08. I suggest you listen to Keith Jarrett's A Melody At Night With You. This should enlighten you and reveal your ignorance.
