  • TOP 5 QUEEN SONG

    5 SPREAD YOUR WINGS

    4. SPREAD YOUR WINGS

    3. SPREAD YOUR WINGS

    2. SPREAD YOUR WINGS

    1. SPREAD YOUR WINGS

  • Very emotional and heartfelt. I love you queen! Forever and alway's

    T

  • Best ! Freddie Mercury @ his finest ! <3

  • Thank you John Deacon for this song

  • Incredible vocals..

  • Queen was so great and still is!!! I was fortunate, to see them live in Berlin twice! They will still be stars in 20 years!!!

  • Mmmmm...queenade......refreshing.

  • The most underrated Queen song! This is a gem!!

  • whatever your roots are, thats more likably your first choice, your first impression, your first years of what molded your love for whatever genre that outlined the structure of your finnished and absolute response.elo, yeah they take you to their phenominal place,i came from them roots by genetics.the wilburys, led zeplin, cheap trick..ect. dont wanna sound hypocritical but I didnt find queen, them 4 guys with a leader that pulled most of its share in idealogical style, they found me and defied gravity

  • I wonder if Sammy was 20 years old. Sounds like maybe in that range, so I got that

song in my head after the boss said that Kyle, a cashier died after a crash last night. So if I knew what spread your wings mean, I'm not sure, an emotional theme is in their songs you must know.

  • I Love both ELO and Queen. I consider myself a big fan of both supergroups. I know every song from every LP of both groups. I saw them both in concert several times. I believe Queen had higher highs (# 1 hits) and lower lows (a couple of trash songs per lp) then ELO. ELO had one big advantage over Queen, they had Jeff Lynne. Jeff is pop-production-genius. Now, if Jeff only had the oppertunity to work w/ Freddie. I asked Jeff that very question in 2001, his reply was "sadly, no".

  • I wonder why this didn't do well when they released it as a single...?

  • @amanda2109114 it's still possible to get Brian May's autograph -_-

  • Bought this album the year it came out, One of my favorite albums as a kid..

  • Comment removed

  • i'm 14. . . and i wish i was alive to see a concert,and get BRIAN'S autograph. . .

  • QUEEN---''SPREAD YOUR WINGS'' (NEWS OF THE WORLD)

  • i am a 15 year old kid and i hav the album, 2 t-shirts, and the cd of this

  • @11lskriver11 That's promising kid. Try ELO. Start with "Eldorado" and work your way up to "Time", carefully picking and choosing on "Discovery". Infinitely superior to Queen. One listen to "A New World Record" and "Out of the Blue" and you'll see. Enjoy!

  • @berniegold Electric Light Orchestra? I mean, respect to ELO, but in no way are they "infinitely superior to Queen." You're entitled to your opinion, but "infinitely superior" surpasses the realm of opinion. I like ELO, but Queen is a cut above. (with all due respect)

  • @pignugent Not enough space to adequately reply but in short, The Emperor has no clothes on. Since Freddie's death, Queen has been hugely overrated. That's right. They were great rarely, and truly great, but suffered from tons of embarrassing or simply unlistenable songs. "Freddie...best singer in rock" blah blah blah. Their individual talent is unquestioned, as is their unique sound, but musically, songwise, melodically, it's all ELO. Jeff Lynne's left pinkie has more talent than Queen.

  • @berniegold Melodically? Being a hardcore Queen fan, I may be a little biased, but to say such statements is shockingly absurd. Personally, I don't find any of Queens songs non-listenable. (barring Hot Space) Queen's brilliant use of accidentals and complex harmonies really take Queen to another level. Freddie himself has more talent than Jeff Lynne and Richard Tandy combined. I agree that people overrate Queen because of Freddie's death, but you underrate Queen because others overrate them.

  • @pignugent You're a devoted Queen fan who has learned over the years to guzzle the Queenade. The truth hurts, like holy water in "The Exorcist". You need an intervention. You're in the Queen bubble, where all things Queen are exalted as great. The good news is that I get it, and I respect it. The bad news is that you and millions of Queen lemmings like you are wrong. "A Prophet's Song" is unlistenable. Vocal pyrotechnics isn't enough, which is where you and yours fail routinely.

  • @berniegold The problem with all your assessments is that they rely on your opinions being facts. Now, you can't expect everyone to share your opinions; especially not when you support your opinion with more opinions. Queen took a creative approach to share their thoughts on how a "prophet's song" should be conveyed. You didn't like it, others did. That doesn't make it bad. You don't have to like Queen, but the things that Queen do have and always will set them apart from other rock bands.

  • @berniegold That's just your opinion, dude. Of course I do think all things Queen are great, but that's irrelevant right now. By the way, I like your description of Queen fans. Pretty much sums up how I feel about the beatles and their sadly misguided fans. Except, I do have to say,you put it a lot nicer than I usually do.

  • @pignugent Well put. Few people seem to have the ability to listen to music and understand what a particular piece consists of when broken down, rather than just the song on a whole. You take songs such as "The prophets Song,Death On Two Legs, March Of The Black Queen,Great King Rat,etc" and actually listen to them deeply enough to hear what the composition consists of and only then can you truly appreciate the talent of Queen.

  • thought those same thoughts as you...34 years ago

  • Who can't relate to this song?

  • still my favorite Album art cover........I remember when I was 5 or 6 being loving this artwork.

  • @lisamaria1972 Its My favourite album cover and also definetly my favourite queen song of all time.

  • I really wish I was alive when he was still rocking out, just thankful that my father had the brains to introduce me to this type of music. Especially this band, Freddy Mercury is a god, no arguments will win. No singer past or present will ever compare to his true talent

  • to tell the truth the 8-track in the caddie tells u how old i am. i loved this very voice and surprise the year i graduated waynes world was on the big screen that was 1992

  • 3 PPL Have a Prick up there ears

  • 3 people should turn off their computers forever

  • i love how Freddie's voice tears at 2:41

  • Incredible vocal performance. Awesome guitarwork by Brian.

    Underrated masterpiece!

  • @tjrtherocksponge I agree totally!! The earlier albums were driving yet had great "STUDIO APPEAL"!! Night at the opera was the first album I ever bought and I wore it out!!

  • I think is the perfect song to the one you met loooong time ago

thnx to you.......my love... I can say.. I spred my wings

    ha!!! dont you think???

  • Basically my favorite song above all songs in music history

  • still remember finding this and an old record player at a yard sale in 1996..... me and my friends got drunk and wore that vinyl out and belted this song out !!!

  • Its unreal how special and great these guys were and still are! Sun City be dammed, I'll always Love them!

  • Wow... I remember when I used to love Queen with all my soul.. I was a child and this was my favourite song.. I still like them but I don't remember most songs I used to listen to.. (sorry for my english, I'm still practicing it :] )

  • I still can't believe that I bought this album (yes, vinyl), fresh after wearing out my copy of 'A Night at the Opera', and was disappointed! Ah, the folly of youth. So, no, there isn't a 'Bohemian Rhapsody' on the record but it's still a fantastic album. I can't imagine another band quite like these guys ever coming around again. Their genius was truly unique. RIP Freddie.

  • Brilliant vocal line. Melancholy blues is another. They did not break in USA due to band's gayish reputation - - of course - and of course in nihilistic USA. Other world, also old eastern-europe wellcomed they openly.

  • Miss you freddie. Love this album so much.

  • to all QUEEN fans. Freddie was and always will be the greatest singer of all time and i'm shure all of you will all agree with me so lets all join together and say RIP Freddie we will all miss you.

  • I'll never understand why Queen's popularity waned in America in the 1980's. Maybe it was because they rescinded their "no synthesizer" policy and became more of a "pop band" than a "rock band". I'm not sure. Still, when Freddie Mercury died in 1991, American fans mourned his loss just the same.

  • - I.. I can't describe it. The voice, the music, all. It's all so perfect and fantastic. I'm 13 and I'm Italian: I wanted born in London in 5O years to see Queen in concert. ♥

  • another great song from John

  • who the fuck r those 3 persons who dislike this song

  • @hla5560650

They would be 3 persons who have opinions of their own and don't have to press the Like button just because YOU want them to.

  • what a great tune, so underated, just great, no other band like them, saved my life with such great lyrics thankyou thankyou FREDDIE

  • I can´t forgive my mother for giving News of the world to a friend, so sad... I could be a very happy teenager queen crazy fangirl with that album now but I have to satisfy myself with A Night At The Opera.... This song is awesome what a shame it is not more recognized, it is brilliant, the lyrics by Mr.John Deacon, the voice by Freddie, everything is perfect! Oh god... but Queen themselves are perfect ^^

  • Best Queen song of all time, at lest for me

  • I had this album when it came out and I would stare for hours at the cover, amazing music of court

  • just heard this song again after 20 yrs sent shivers down my spine ! miss you freddy ! you were my idol . all your song ment something to me , just wish you were still with us ............... love daz and im sure all your fans x

  • I used to have this album and A Night The Opera. I hate ex husbands! These are my all time favorites!

  • i stil have the original album....and it's still as important to me as if it was 78-79...big thing to me as a musician...as crap as I may be

  • Umm.....why does the cover art matter?

    There IS music aswell, y'know......

  • Very good point you make. The music is what matters - obviously - with an album, tape, or cd. An album cover would have to be awfully and blatantly unattractive to even comment on it. (ie...Montrose Greatist Hits with a large fly playing guitar, or Judas Priests Defenders of the Faith, or UFO's 2nd album called Flying.)

  • I just saw the discussion about the cover art and it's "quality". As a 16yr old purchasing this album, I LOVED it! Sometimes art is so bad, it's good. And "of the time". There is a term in art schools called "Masturbation Art" because it only pleases the artist themselves.

  • I think it's one of the best cover EVER.. wasn't me who gave thumb down, I don't like these thumbs to..everyone have the right to think wathever they want to.. and for me this is a great cover

  • @EdMarcus wait! wat do you u mean COVER!!!??? this song? i thought john wrote it!!!! :/

  • @96mychale He did

  • @mattscomics then how is it a cover?

  • Comment removed

  • @grammalinnie It isn't

  • @96mychale LP Cover

  • @EdMarcus This is the original one

  • @mattscomics I was talking about the LP cover in a discussion many years ago

  • I do have this album on vinyl...and its an iconic lp cover......i am also fortunate to have seen them twice...wembley and their last ever show together at knebworth in england....long live Queen....

  • @muttsnuts68 I am sooo jealous you got to see them live! That would have made my life complete! I loved this album the whole time I was growing up...cover and all. I really enjoy my vinyl. I think the covers and the sleeves were so much more of a way for a band to really show their creativity and to communicate with their fans. You just don't get that with a cd or a cassette. I would stare at this album cover and the lyrics the whole time I was listening to it! (over and over! LOL)

  • I said I love the song, and album- I wonder if the people who gave thumbs down to my comment have ACTUALLY HELD THE ALBUM cover in thier hands. And ... do they consider it good art? It is a horrible cover, and you open it up and it's even worse inside. Artist Kelly Freas, did a lousy job on this. BTW, I have the album on vinyl, so I definitely have a good look at it.

Oh, I saw Queen live- awesome. One of the best I ever saw. And I wouldn't be here checking if I was not a fan. PEACE

  • It's art, it's all opinion. You don't like it but they do.

  • saw them twice. PARIS AND KNEBWORTH . fabulous . loved them. i m a AC DC fan

  • @BeatleJaynumber9 Lucky you! ç_____ç

  • same my friend gave me it for free (GOD BLESS HIM). the album is fantastic, but Freas really did a bad job on the album art, hence they never hired him again haha. but even if the album cover is bad, you can't deny that the music is fantastic. and i think that's the kind of band Queen is. yeah they have fantastic hits from each album, but even the songs that didnt get radio attention are just as good. for example everyone focused on Somebody to Love but Millionaire Waltz was just as fantastic.

  • i started singing "rocky raccoon".lol.

  • My biggest regret was never being able to see these guys live. Sadly, I had to grow up with the Smash Mouth generation - a group of kids who are more likely to appreciate the works of groups like Shiny Toy Guns and Miley Cyrus instead of rock 'n roll legends like Hendrix, The Doors, Zeppelin, and of course Queen.

  • @TeeMcDee89 The same true regret that I have aswell. @ least we still have the music itself.

  • Waxing nostalgic. This stuff takes me back to my breakout age. News of the World was one of the first 3 albums I ever bought. Queen was the first band I saw live. 1978. Great times.

  • Isso sim é musica, voz, melodia e harmonia impecáveis.

Não essas merdas artificiais de hoje.

  • the 70's were their better decade. especially the early years.

  • I think when this album came out, the times were already changing.. And for some reason Queen decided to shift gears with the times which is strange since they always set their own standard

Although you can tell with this album, there is looser production, more freestyle, songs like this one and Sleepin On the Sidewalk, Get Down Make Love, it sounds like they were starting to itch for another direction.

  • Queen is one of those bands who have fans who go bloody ballistic and take it too personally if you you dare to critisize.

First off, I do like this group.

That said - at the risk of thousands getting their knickers in a twist - I want to say that News of the World was a great, but dare I say, their last really strong album.

This is my opinion. Those who still keep shrines to Freddie in their bedrooms will have to survive it.

  • What are you talking about, The Game, Jazz, etc, all wonderful albums!

  • forget about shredders.. i really like may´s guitar style cause it is just meaningful... sincere... and passionate... not as simple as many people thinks.. ......this is just him.. like his voice... like a firm.. very personal and unique!

  • nothing simple about May's playing, the real King of British electric guitar. There was Clapton,Beck,Page etc. but no one followed May in Britain, they switched to punk because NO ONE could outplay May, except maybe for Steve Howe, which can be found on at least one Queen song. Good night

  • The king of english electric guitar is not Brian May it is David Gilmour and would have Queen ever been around if their wasn't a little innovative band from Cambridge named Pink Floyd GIlmour has out played Brain May on many levels and is still a far better guitar player

  • artisticaly speaking I agree with you. Raw guitar skills however, no comparison, Brian can play circles around dave.

Who would I rather watch? David oh David.. he's got the best white soul next to Eric.

  • @MusicsWhore Yes, Queen would still have existed had Pink Floyd not been around. I know this is hard to believe but Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin aren't the center of the Rock n Roll universe.

  • this is why i love brian may. he's my favorite guitarist ever. he's probably not the most talented (though he's definately up there). hes not a great shredder like slash or yngwie, but his solos are always amazing. very simple, but so great on the ears. listen to somebody to love, killer queen and you'll see what i mean. this song is another great example

  • @SevenSeas

Great uploads. I had this vinyl once but lost it somehow, guess somebody grabbed it on a party, dunno. Grr!!! :)

    @1974queen

You obviously didnt grow up at all :P

  • queen where they best in the 70s

80s kinda chessu stuff but i still like it

  • a good tune

  • Bellissima!

  • hey freddie wouldnt mind, cause i want it all and i want it now. oh yeah by the way ive seen queen in their hey day before1985 numerous times outside of canada, north america. one more thing most fans in north america jumped on the queen band wagon after WAYNES WORLD that makes me puke. the play that was showing in toronto was great, oh yeah i live on the west coast of canada..traveln man, 1974 queen i prefer them from the begining 1973...........................and kiss well hey more albums

  • saw the game tour at madison square,

most amazing concert and i been to alot of shows,,i was 16 in 81 wow long time ago///

  • Another kick ass song from Queen - I think last time I heard this song was 20 years ago!

  • amazing song amazing album, im so sick of people saying they love queen and cant get past, bohemion rap. next time someone says they love queen ask them to sing this or name ten songs other than bohemion watch how far they get.......for me it was KISS, QUEEN, VAN HALEN, ALICE COOPER, JOE SATRIANI, BOSTON, after that its a free frawl..........

  • man do i miss that voice....

  • Everybody with a good taste of music does...Freddie RIP

  • @mickycee64 one of the best rock voices in history, if not THE best :D

  • @Lugaid It is the BEST!

  • @killingracists ok, you convinced me! He is the BEST :) In fact i believe he some kind of ancient GOD hahaha

  • @Lugaid He's an ETERNAL GOD; he will never age, neither he nor Queen!

  • Epic voice Freddie.

These memories of young childhood do not easily fade. 1st insight into rock. Brian May and his wah wah sounding strings ...just so pretty. thanks for the vid. Been looking for some of this LP live tour etc. but anyhoo this will do then. : )

  • my fave Queen song , from one of the best albums ever.how was this not number one in every country(34 in England ffs)

  • Awesome concert Cleveland Coloseum!!!

  • reality tune

  • love it...but wasn't it also on the album QUEEN...

i think so because i only know it from this album

  • Nope. Spread Your Wings was released on News of the World only, as well as some greatest hits compilations of course.

  • Again, the greatest Queen album ever !!! This was my first purchased vinyl and when I special ordered this in CD form in 1984, it took nearly a year for the record store to get it and they could only get it FROM GERMANY ! Yeah, amazing that CD's took that long to obtain but that's what it was like 20+ years ago. XD

  • I love this song...I think the best John's song... *.*

  • Yes, this is really excellent stuf TheSevenSeasOfRye! Thank you very mcuh for uploading these excellent News of The Worls songs! I really love them! 5/5!
