@marvelbrothers I agree. The best Doctor Who episodes ever in my opinion were 'The Stolen Earth/Journey's End' and 'The End of Time'. Ever since David Tennant left, the acting, the characters, the storylines and everything went downhill. The David Tennant era had so much awesome tension and drama that the Matt Smith era lacks. Julian Bleach played Davros brilliantly. Yes, he blatantly channelled Emperor Palpatine but that actually made the portrayal even more spectacular.
Great episode but i only had one problem with it is if the Daleks and davros succeeded in destroying everything what would happen to the 27 planets would they have been destroyed too and what about the doctor and his companions in the holding cells would they have been exterminated eventually or left to spend eternity in them. can someone answer me this please.
@theantinatalist the Daleks were going to destroy the universe but since they protected within the Medusa cascade whcih was out of synch with the rest of the universe(s) they'd be safe and consequently exterminate the other planets they'd stolen therefore finally achieving thier goal of being the supreme beings in the universe
@1066gull while i enjoyed this year's doctor who i kept saying to myself, particularly in closing time:
"wait, didn't we do this 2 years ago". now i grant you there are important differences. you actually SEE the Doctor die, its not a prophecy and it does seem to be a real death not a possible death or regeneration metaphor so that adds to it, but to all intents and purposes, the specials did the same, thing, except it had greater poignancy bcos we KNEW Tennant was leaving
One thing that nobody can deny about this finale: Julian Bleach OWNED the part of Davros. I never thought once that it was a different actor than Michael Wisher. With David Goodeson and Terry Molloy you knew they were different actors portraying the same part.
As for the whole Reality Bomb plan, Davros really didn't think that one through. Davros: 'Oh, yay! Every Universe is destroyed! Hurrah! We're the only ones left!'
@Kaagh178 they would've exterminate the stolen planets and then Davros and then basically they would've achieved all they ever wanted, Dalek supremacy, the Daleks as the only beings in the universe. thats all they've ever wanted
If they'd focused more on the Doctor and Davros and had the doctor regenerate it might of been a good D10 exit episode. That ending withthem all in the TARDIS towing Earth cannot be defended... at all.
@Traininghopper plus a bit of a poor episode to go out on for D10 wouldn't it. well ok Stolen Earth is a good episode but not really for the Doctor he does little in it. when the Doctor regenerates it should rightly so be a big affair celebrating the outgoing actor. having him shot by a dalek mid story and having someother guy save tghe day would be as disengenuous as Colin Baker of Mccoy's exits. i will say that someday i hope to see a mid story regeenration tho
It's one of those trailers that gives you goosebumps- a trailer that everyone needs to see. If you have a friend that hasn't watched the show, show them this to give them a taste of what they are missing. Simply awesome, Davros FTW! :)
what always confuses me about this episode is that the daleks seek to destroy everything and their sole purpose is to become the supreme beings in the universe. But, if everything was destroyed and returned to atoms they would have succeeded their mission but would no longer have a purpose. Plus if they destroy everything how are they supposed to build a new empire??? :S:S:S
They're not completely insane. They have their own sort of logical reasoning. That reasoning being that all species except Daleks are impure and must be eradicated. As the Doctor says, Davros removed all emotions from his creations, except for hate.
@Mozzyeon i thought he always was, i mean if someone created the most evil cunning devilish ruthless beings in all exsistance and though of it a good thing well he i9s definetly not right in the head
@Soundtrackfreak10 this is a very mixed ep for ppl and i think half of that is due to soem truly ridiculous hype when the ep was coming out. ppl overinvested i think. i loved it the first time and i still love it now. it was a really great emotional finale which was sort of the finale to all the companions and the Daleks in RTD's era whereas the End of Time was the finale for the Doctor personally,
davros made me realise how poor all other villans have been, lex luthor going to steal all the gold you say? love to help but davros is going to BLOW UP REALITY!
I'm gonna make a trailer based on the us eradicating terrorism:D
Terrorism, Extremism & Radiclism Has Become Dust & The Dust Has Become Atoms & The Atoms Has Become.....Nothing. This Is My Ultimate Victory Bin Laden! The Destruction Of Al-Qaeda, ITSELF!!!
Man! I remember how freaked out I was when I first saw this trailer. Davros's rant was absolutely shocking and spine chilling and I was completely surprised when I first heard this rant on the trailer because Davros never ranted as melodramatically as that before!
turn this into a terrorism speech and millions will praise it hahahaha
The night is darkest just before the dawn. And I promise youthe dawn is coming.
Terrorism, Extremism & Radiclism Has Become Dust & The Dust Has Become Atoms & The Atoms Has Become.....Nothing. This Is My Ultimate Victory Bin Laden! The Destruction Of Al-Qaeda, ITSELF!!!
Lumic from"Rise of the Cybermen" and"Age of Steel" is basically the human version of Davros: They're both confined to a life support wheelchair create metallic emotionless creatures to save their own species and eventually get killed by them.
I think the trouble was, there was too much in it. Don't get me wrong, I really enjoyed the episode bringing everyone back and of course the return of Davros, but 60 minutes was not enough!!!
I really liked the first of the two (of this year). I thought the sequal was a bit of a let down, though. It seemed a bit rushed, the daleks defeated a bit too easily, no shields on the daleks, I don't recall seeing a rotating mid-section either (for some strange reason), etc... But then, these daleks were meant to have come directly out of the time-war, so shields, etc, may not have been installed on the daleks yet.
Forgot what I said a month ago, I just didn't like the fact that Davros didn't really do anything in there. The Supreme Dalek just got destroyed, and there wasn't enough Dalek screentime. All they seemed to do was shoot a few buildings and turn people into Daleks. Not enoguh extermination in a Dalek episode = Bad.
Precisly. RTD'S plot resolutions are never literal...they are metaphorical. Rose "died" cut off from her regular life and doomed to one day "die young" as a Torchwood member, Donna "dies" in the mind...the "Children of Time" are The Doctor's terroist cell...all metaphorical meanings.
why oh why is marv back with these stupid comments!!! i swear you're just doing this to get attention like you did LAST TIME on doctor who clips. Jesus Christ once is enough but a second time? sad just sad.
Oh dear when did this post become a slanging match, some enjoyed it some didn't, but at the end of the day it is just a show, no need to get hostile. Please keep it light.
Marv...fuck off. You so-called "Who fans" are stuck in the past. It's a glorified "thinking man's pantomime" and always has been, get your nose out of those elitist BBC Novels that were boring to read. Go fuck Bernice Summerfield like the rest of you idiots.
Ahhh it makes sense now!!!! T Gayis dumbs down the scripts to cater for the former "Britain's got talent" audience that now have nothign else to watch and it's still too hot for them outside to go window linking (yes, i know high rise council slums cast a lot of shade, but I was refering to the heat from the on-fire Ford Mondeos petrol bombed by the feral chavs that would actually enjoy this sort of nonsense).
Also I would like to add that for a "brilliant scientist" Davros's grasp of sub-atomic physics sure does suck..."Dust will become atoms, and the atoms will become?..errm, errmm" [Davros' looks to Physics boffin bemused]. Ermm..Protons, neutrons and Electrons..then Positrons, Quarks ect. Teacher says "Come on Davros I know you are one of the slow children in the class but please stop drinking your free school milk though your earhole".
What unbelievable thick ill-educated chav pleasing dross this turned out to be. I gave it a change, but should have seen it comming. I now assume legal justification to boycott my license fee for 2009.
There is a point where cold hard science becomes less than entertaining to watch. Classic Doctor Who was full of "bad science" and "science fiction", just as the re-engineered series is. This is because ultimately it's a fantasy drama series designed to entertain people.
If you have problems with the science then fine, but the show never professed to be "realistic". If it annoys you then don't watch it.
As for the speech by Davros, I presume he was dramatising. He('d be) smarter than you.
such a good episode. I went through many emotions in this episode. I was so sad to see Rose leave once more. I was happy to see K9 and the german daleks (lol). I ve got a good feeling that Davros will reappear as we didnt see him die. Finally i think the saddest thing about the episode is what happened to Donna after being so good this series in the end she went back to the attitude she had in the runaway bride.
The problem with New 'Who'is that its sooo overdone. There was no need to involve a stupid story about the universe being destroyed. Lets face it we all know that it wasnt going to happen. It needs to be more subtle. The last two episodes of the season were a great big excuse to bring all the characters together for no reason other than ratings.
wow gr8 episode, but tbh turnipturnipturnip person is right in saying that davros was a plot device, he didnt have an amazingly brilliant role but still gr8 episode.
And by the way, bit of a long time ago, but in the shakepeare code back in series 3, at the end queen elizabeth recognised the doctor i wonder when that will be continued
Lol i didnt mean loose the Darleks totally, I just mean lets have a break so that when they do resurface they take us by surprise and we feel that tingel of fear. It would be great though, with Mickey being a computer wizz and all, if he turned up in torch wood and of course Martha because she is a doc, they would both be great in that.
yea sorry misunderstood ya yea thats a good idea and yes i wouldnt mind seeing martha (it was obviuos she was going to jion torchwood after her appearecne in series 2) and mickey (now that would be a little odd) join torchwood!
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
what a farce, this show is a joke. They brought back davros as a lame plot device and he didnt even get much action. It was all made to create hype for he show. If you actually sit down and watch it with an open mind you will realise just how poor and 'textbook' this really is!!
Bit disappointed with Rose... can't believe she settled for second best! Why did she have to go back to the parallel universe? and why did the 2nd doctor not go crazy like Donna coz he was part time lord and human like DoctorDonna? Any how it was one of the best episodes!!!!
Even thoguh he was "killed" make my words, Davros will be back, he's been seemingly utterly defeated many times in the Classic series and came back. Plus we all KNOW that the Daleks will be back, they always are. =D Gonna be cool to see the Cybermen take center stage at Christmas though. Gonna be one hell of a wait until 2010, 4 SPECIALS NEXT YEAR ISN'T ENOUGH!! =(
Tried to post this before but it didnt happen so im trying again. Donna was excellent, didnt think I would like her but I loved her, Martha great as as always, Jack ..... eye candy, Jackie no change, Rose.....dissapointed......Sarah Jayne surprisingly fab, Micky.....underated.....the Doctor Legend.....K9 the best and the T.A.R.D.I.S........eternal....all in all an excellent. but lets loose the Darleks for a while.
ok well i agree with you mostly donna..was amazing and i knew she had it in her martha...fantastic love the independant girl jack...*drools* rose..a little disapointed but what i expected from her return sarah jane...makes me want to watch the series mickey...always second best poor thing the doctor....amazing especailly there being 2 of them and he will always be my lonley angel K9..if only you could get attual dogs like that.. but the darleks RULE you cant losse the darleks!
Loved it...but poor Donna. I am going to miss her character, the doctor and Donna when fun together. Maybe they will think of some weird way to bring her back.
yeah, it was like he has passed her off on to doc#2, either way she had the doctor in the only real way she could have him, one heart.compleate with ageing. Shhe was to easily pleased. and what was with that stupid lisp she seems to have developed. Or is it just me?????
I thought it was too predictable, none of the companions died like it was prophecsised all the way through the series and how did the tardis mysteriously move the earth and let me guess a dalek survived! lol
and all his companions lived happily ever after! You will all say Donna was affected, well she cannot remember anything so how can she be affected lol!
I like the idea of Gwen, wonder how the doctor would cope with her, that would be funny, Sally sparrow, what a cool idea, plenty to write about there. I wonder because Jack said Martha should find another job, if she will end up back with the Doctor, but I hope not, nothing against Martha, but I just think we need a change, some one new for a couple of seasons. going back some times is not the best wat to go forwards
That episode was amazing, i bet rtd is proud of his work! It was fantastic! bet loads of doctor/rose fans will be happy with her and the doctor living together! hope we see more of them though! would be great xx
Russell T Davies is a bastard! Russell T Davies is a bastard! Russell T Davies is a bastard! Russell T Davies is a bastard! Russell T Davies is a bastard! Russell T Davies is a bastard! Russell T Davies is a bastard! Russell T Davies is a bastard!
For the next full time companion, I say bring back Sally Sparrow (from "Blink") or have Gwen from Torchwood, I think either of those would be interesting to see with The Doctor, rather than having to get used to a totally different person all over again, just for them to leave after one Series.
well lets face it, jack could not die, or sarah jayne, Martha could have been exterminated. as for Rose well, I can't see her shuffling off......but Donna did die didnt she, her life with the doctor was erased, he took it all back. It was a good episode, im glad no one really snuffed it, otherwise we might never see them again.........then again Davrous died once....i suppose anything is possible.
Yes but her life itself wasnt taken and if she cannot remember anything about the doctor her life is normal ,she is still breathing and therefore still alive!
I too found it dissapointing, I felt cheated by the cliffhanger solution, and the second doctor just got on my nerves. The actual storyline though was brilliant, but solving it with 20 minutes left!
I'm sorry but this was the most boring, uninspiring and predictable ending to an overall disappointing series! So Donna just forgets everything??? And Rose returns to her parallel universe with a "replica" Doctor? Meh! So so SO disappointed!
It's like RTD finally ran out of ideas. Oh, and the cliffhanger for xmas episode?! CYBERMEN?! WOW! Yet more predictability!
you know what, i'm glad rose got her happy ending, she deserved it. Donna though, what a shame, I really wanted her to stick around, she seemed unlikely, but she really understood the right and wrong, and she would have given anything for the doctor, no strings attached. I wonder who will be next, its right that the next companion should stick around for a while though. But this was a brill ending to a great series.
RTD his story arcs were easier to get your head around!!?!

Oh dear when did this post become a slanging match, some enjoyed it some didn't, but at the end of the day it is just a show, no need to get hostile. Please keep it light.
trinity11997744 3 years ago
Marv...fuck off. You so-called "Who fans" are stuck in the past. It's a glorified "thinking man's pantomime" and always has been, get your nose out of those elitist BBC Novels that were boring to read. Go fuck Bernice Summerfield like the rest of you idiots.

How intelligent are people who use homophobic slander to slag off RTD. Regardless of the quality of the episode, people who use that lingo are scum.

WINDOW LICKING
MarvsCharismaticChin 3 years ago
Ahhh it makes sense now!!!! T Gayis dumbs down the scripts to cater for the former "Britain's got talent" audience that now have nothign else to watch and it's still too hot for them outside to go window linking (yes, i know high rise council slums cast a lot of shade, but I was refering to the heat from the on-fire Ford Mondeos petrol bombed by the feral chavs that would actually enjoy this sort of nonsense).
MarvsCharismaticChin 3 years ago
Also I would like to add that for a "brilliant scientist" Davros's grasp of sub-atomic physics sure does suck..."Dust will become atoms, and the atoms will become?..errm, errmm" [Davros' looks to Physics boffin bemused]. Ermm..Protons, neutrons and Electrons..then Positrons, Quarks ect. Teacher says "Come on Davros I know you are one of the slow children in the class but please stop drinking your free school milk though your earhole".
MarvsCharismaticChin 3 years ago
What unbelievable thick ill-educated chav pleasing dross this turned out to be. I gave it a change, but should have seen it comming. I now assume legal justification to boycott my license fee for 2009.

Oh well it seems that I type just as bad as Russel T Gayvis writes...change??...*chance.

No...incorrect, I love Doctor Who. You have clearly mis-interpreted what I have written.
MarvsCharismaticChin 3 years ago

Finally i think the saddest thing about the episode is what happened to Donna after being so good this series in the end she went back to the attitude she had in the runaway bride.

the first 40 minutes were good, but after that it was absolute garbage

I am sure they will use the doctors daughter for another spin off series.

Just watched the final episode! Brilliant! The best Sci-fi Ever! American stories should take serious note - It's all not about state of the art fx!

Lol i didnt mean loose the Darleks totally, I just mean lets have a break so that when they do resurface they take us by surprise and we feel that tingel of fear. It would be great though, with Mickey being a computer wizz and all, if he turned up in torch wood and of course Martha because she is a doc, they would both be great in that.
trinity11997744 3 years ago
yea sorry misunderstood ya yea thats a good idea and yes i wouldnt mind seeing martha (it was obviuos she was going to jion torchwood after her appearecne in series 2) and mickey (now that would be a little odd) join torchwood!

This comment has received too many negative votes show
what a farce, this show is a joke. They brought back davros as a lame plot device and he didnt even get much action. It was all made to create hype for he show. If you actually sit down and watch it with an open mind you will realise just how poor and 'textbook' this really is!!
turnipturnipturnip 3 years ago
I thought the episode was brilliant!
Loved the scene when they were all in the Tardis!
Bit disappointed with Rose... can't believe she settled for second best! Why did she have to go back to the parallel universe? and why did the 2nd doctor not go crazy like Donna coz he was part time lord and human like DoctorDonna? Any how it was one of the best episodes!!!!
cuteprincess148 3 years ago
Even thoguh he was "killed" make my words, Davros will be back, he's been seemingly utterly defeated many times in the Classic series and came back. Plus we all KNOW that the Daleks will be back, they always are. =D Gonna be cool to see the Cybermen take center stage at Christmas though. Gonna be one hell of a wait until 2010, 4 SPECIALS NEXT YEAR ISN'T ENOUGH!! =(

I wonder if they'll bring Alex Kingston back from the Library episode. She hinted that she'd travelled with the Doctor.
gbushimprov 3 years ago
I like the idea of Gwen, wonder how the doctor would cope with her, that would be funny, Sally sparrow, what a cool idea, plenty to write about there. I wonder because Jack said Martha should find another job, if she will end up back with the Doctor, but I hope not, nothing against Martha, but I just think we need a change, some one new for a couple of seasons. going back some times is not the best wat to go forwards
trinity11997744 3 years ago
That episode was amazing, i bet rtd is proud of his work! It was fantastic! bet loads of doctor/rose fans will be happy with her and the doctor living together! hope we see more of them though! would be great xx

For the next full time companion, I say bring back Sally Sparrow (from "Blink") or have Gwen from Torchwood, I think either of those would be interesting to see with The Doctor, rather than having to get used to a totally different person all over again, just for them to leave after one Series.
CMPunkLiddell4LifeO8 3 years ago
well lets face it, jack could not die, or sarah jayne, Martha could have been exterminated. as for Rose well, I can't see her shuffling off......but Donna did die didnt she, her life with the doctor was erased, he took it all back. It was a good episode, im glad no one really snuffed it, otherwise we might never see them again.........then again Davrous died once....i suppose anything is possible.
trinity11997744 3 years ago
Yes but her life itself wasnt taken and if she cannot remember anything about the doctor her life is normal ,she is still breathing and therefore still alive!
blassonkem 3 years ago
Doctor Who: Journey's End episode was ace! All the daleks have been destroyed or have they really?
someone is higher than Davros, the Doctor said (pet)in the dalek ship he was kept a prisoner with Rose.

Overall this was a bad series!

you know what, i'm glad rose got her happy ending, she deserved it. Donna though, what a shame, I really wanted her to stick around, she seemed unlikely, but she really understood the right and wrong, and she would have given anything for the doctor, no strings attached. I wonder who will be next, its right that the next companion should stick around for a while though. But this was a brill ending to a great series.
