  • This is good the version performed on the last tour was AWESOME! It was in this key but the verses were in the original so they threw both in there!

  • driven to tears

  • Not sure about one of the other posts written here but this IS in the same key as the original. This performance was in 1986, only 6 years after Driven To Tears was first released.

  • well done

  • @NotAValidUsername "Driven To Tears" was first featured on the "Zenyatta Mondatta" Long Playing (that was before the age of compact discs), by The Police, some time around 1980...

  • Not as good as they were back in the say. Notice its dropped tuning a few nots because Sting can't sing in the same key as he used to. Its still a great song, but just doesn't sound right. Go pop in the cd, and its like a different song.

Being a musician, I know sometimes you have to make adjustments, but somehow this song loses its lusture from the older live shows where they used to play it in the same tuning as the album.

  • wowee

back in the day tht is like 1986

theres nothin wrong with tht song

  • the police threw different twists to some of their songs throughout the years. live versions of cant stand losing you, driven to tears, roxanne, message in a bottle, all evolved over the years. you gotta really each band members influences as well. sting and andy came from jazz, where stewarts introduced the reggae beats to sting. try to love all versions for what each one brings. we can really hear andys guitar this time, which other times u only hear the the chorus and solo well.

  • *RECOGNIZE each band members influences*

  • these guys were the tighest on their regatta and zenyatta tours. i got to see them alot while i was in college

  • Cool

  • this sound is style sting band jazz, sorry but this isn't the police. i waiting tour 2007 !!the police version!! fuck jazz stile.

  • are the guys trying their hardest to look like a bunch of limp fags? Copeland's hair is hilarious - if he dressed like that now, he'd be seen as a fully fledged member of the "I take it up the chocolate love tunnel" brigade. Sssssoooo camp it's untrue.

  • best solo ive ever heard for this song, that and the drums are closer to the studio version, which i always prefered. the jazz feel aint bad

  • I think people confuse Kenny Kirkland's feel with that of Stewart and Sting, who are simply not playing a jazz feel here. When people hear some jazz chords on piano they all say "this is jazz".. it's not.

  • This is a great version. The Police were really pushing on these nights because U2 opened for them, and U2 were killing it, just blowing away the crowd.

  • this is the best version ever!

    where's the sound???

  • I don't think it's best version ever because Kenny Kirkland's jazz piano makes it sound a little like Sting's band instead of pure Police.

  • who cares about the piano?

    Andy's solo kicks all ass!!!

  • yeah man i agree!!!, this is better than the 1982 gateshead version (and that´s a great version)!!.
