@smalls284 Just so you know, linemen take more abuse in a game then rugby players do. They are in contact every play. Ive played Football for 8 years as Offensive Tackle and Defensive End, and rugby for 4 years as a flanker(7).
you know why you get more beat up? the equipment. Its been shown that football players sustain more injuries than rugby due to equipment. Helmets and shoulderpads do damage

But Rugby players, no matter which of the 26 countries in the Union they're from, are a hell of a lot tougher, and win hands down in stamina. There's something like only 30 minutes of actual play in a 4 hour NFL game - don't get me wrong, I like NFL, but good lord is an 80 minute Rugby match (75+ mins of play) more entertaining. It is one hell of a sport and you can't get that til you either go to a decent match or try playing.

Don't be fooled, this is NOT what most Aussies, Kiwis and Poms call rugby, this is RUGBY LEAGUE, a similar game, if you talk to real fans the codes are very distinct. League is considered by some to be the game with more reliance on effective tackling, thus the better tacklers. Certainly there are far more tackles made in LEAGUE. The only people who comment truthfully on comparisons between the two games are the select few who have played BOTH games at the highest professional levels.

its actually 25 seconds after a 10second play. Everyplay an NFL player goes 100% watching rugby you see players standing around gettinga breath unless they have the ball anyways. So they both can get breaks. Why is it when nfl goes to europe its a sale out? And look at the fan base. In Rugby the stadium isnt that big. it cant hold nearly as much as an NFl stadium. It holds about as much people as my highschool did on friday nights.

actually the average NFL Stadium is about 65,000 to 75,000, which is about the same as most of the big stadiums in Europe. there is usually one stadium in each country that holds from 85,000 to 90,000 with a bunch of others that are 30,000 ones.
and you have to remember that the USA has much more people and in a bigger area than most countries in Europe so it makes sense to have more and bigger stadiums to make the most money.

I'm sorry but after watching this, I have to give it to American Football, these guys don't seem to generate the sheer power and momentum that US football players do, as a result the collisions have significantly less impact. Blame it on knowing that there is no protection between you and the other person you are about to hit, or what have you..the result is most of these hits wouldn't make the highlight reel of a college football game.
