  • @Khaosreign

Anybody can have morals...but who can have God's morals?

God's morality is the only valid morality. Everyone else's is flawed and does not meet God's standard. You're probably a decent and nice person, but "he who keeps the whole law and yet stumbled at just one point is GUILTY OF BREAKING ALL OF IT." (James 2:10)

  • This video was done very well, but I don't exactly think that what is being said is correct. Looking through the lines that are said, it would appear that the message here is that Atheists don't have morals or moralistic fiber. This isn't true. I wouldn't say that I am an Atheist, but I'm not religious either and I do have morals.

Learn to coexist people. By coexist I don't just mean learn to accept what other people believe, but learn to accept what they don't believe as well.

  • @Khaosreign

So you think people should learn to accept what others don't believe? . If your statement were true, it implies that I should learn to accept when one person doesn't believe that another person deserves freedom, just like slave owners have thought throughout history. I can name about a billion other examples that make your statement silly.

In my opinion, accepting non-beliefs just to "co-exist" is a dangerous concept.

  • Someone sent me this tripe because he lacks a tongue in his head. Looking at it he probably should have tried to make a point himself as even if he had wasted his and my own time it would have been far less than 2:23

  • @Hemmersfield1

Or, maybe he wasn't trying to waste your time at all.

  • wow.. yall some virgins...

  • That was cool!

    An excellent reminder.

  • Christ is an historical fact. He died and rose. Literally. To forgive you and pay the price for your redemption. But you must appropriate this redemption. Just pray and receive Christ as your saviour. You will not be go to heaven for eternity any other way. " I am the way, the truth, and life, no man comes to the father but by me." Jesus Christ

  • from which sermon is this?

  • Not all evils are covered as sins, and not all sins are evil. So don't equivocate evil with sin.

  • @AspiringPotato i think you're wrong there im afraid. sin is anything that is against the will of God. sin=evil, evil=sin

  • @Aristox116

What you are saying is that sin is the Christian definition of evil. I find it to be a lacking definition.

  • @AspiringPotato You understood enough to know that what we call sin is what you consider mere evil. So what is your definition of evil?

  • @tamuc08

I don't know enough to be comfortable giving a good definition of evil. But I know that some things like murder and rape are evil. And that other things like premarital sex or homosexuality are not intrinsically evil.

  • How can I get an HD version of this suitable to be played on a theater cinema screen? We're planning to show this on a concert that will be attended by thousands of people here in the Philippines. Please help.

  • @johnnybden i do not think it is possible to increase the quality of a video once it has already been recorded at a certain quality.

if the concert has already happenned i hope it went well. if it has not, i hope it goes well.

    :)

  • good video!

  • this is beyond creative you truly have a gift chief!

  • ok prove it..

  • @Hemmersfield1 "God is spirit, and those who worship Him, must worship Him in spirit and truth" John 4:24 "But without faith it is impossible to please Him: for He that cometh to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him." Hebrews 11:6 God Bless you with Truth.

  • @NewBornNickumz ok so you know some bible verses, but I asked you to 'prove it', have another go.

  • Wonderful Amen and Amen.. :)

  • Thanks for the laugh. ^_^

  • Thank you for taking your time to make this SERMON JAM. I appreciate you. may the Lord use this video to open a door for someone who desires to seek Him.

  • Good day. See you in hell.

  • p.s. I didn't crucify God. and i think it's time that the collective psyche feel pardoned from what some assholes did a few thousand years ago. Or it's just slander.

  • but it's not just christians. that is my only mistake here. Fuck all peoples of the book.

  • All this subpar art made in the name of religion...but religion will let a mediocre piece of art by valid....not on my watch. in the modern world, Christians really have no connection to what it means to be human. This is a horrible piece of didactic art. He should go fucking kill himself for bringing such a shitty product to the light of the world in his pompous tone of acting as if atheist have no morals.

  • @DickleFickle When he was addressing the atheists, he was addressing one of their biggest beliefs, that there is no absolute standard of right and wrong. It wasn't pompous, it was equivalent to someone saying "a Christian believes that Jesus was God's son."

and...What do you think it means to be human, and how do Christians not have a connection?

Finally, all of us crucified Jesus by what we have done. None of us measure up to the standard required of us, but Jesus made the way.

  • You're just evading the point if you point out the tone and diction of my statement. Fucking naive dickhead.

  • Maybe sometimes compassion sounds harsh. My loved ones, while full of flaws, are not responsible for the hatred, the savage violence, the imperial conquest, the mass manipulation, the hindrance of progress, the crackpot fundamentalism, the moderates who still perpetuate the same institution as the extremist in their indecision, the hindrance of unbiased self-reflection....yes, there's a lot to be angry about, and cursing is such a utility to express that anger in language.

  • @DickleFickle Compassion and passion are a little different though, aren't they? There is no compassion in hatred, but one can hate passionately.

  • Suck a Dickle you barbaric, Mesopotamian-god worshipping mother Fuckers.

  • @DickleFickle You're so right. I think I'll just quit right now. In fact, I think I'll just start talking down to everyone like a barbarian. You know, full of cursing and hate. I'll just hate people that make me angry.

Would you prefer I follow the example you set? And talk to your mother this way? Or your father? Or children, if ever you have any? Your spouse, or girlfriend? What would you do to someone if they said these things to someone you love, and you were their to hear it?

  • @DickleFickle Also, why spend so much time hating on us and trying to convince yourself that this is not truth if you just think we are barbaric and idiotic. Let the idiots be idiots. You are obviously wrestling with a large amount of anger, and I pray that one day your eyes will be opened.

Ultimately, when you spew hate, you are not hating us, you are hating God. That is a scary place to be, but even so, He loves you just the same and desires that you be reconciled to him.

  • This track is sooo dope. I believe! i believe now!

  • Jesus. Oh, Jesus, I wanna make love to ya, Jesus.

  • Christians are always behind. Sucking off the paradigms of pop culture.

  • I didn't crucify god.

  • Amen.

  • GREAT video - played it at service a few weeks ago - people had their mouths hanging open...

  • this is an epic video. please make more bro.

  • Excellent message, except for the music on background. It's stressful. Could I found this preaching without this music? I really want to share it, but that thing stops me.

Of course, thanks for your time invested and your work, I'm sure this video has been edifying to many.

Kind regards in the grace of the Lord.

  • Awesome video, I enjoyed it. Faved.

  • Bashing others, and the church and telling about an experience to convert a single mom who is committing sin, wow .exactly what he'S preaching about he is doing... Imagine what that singe mom and her child will think when they hear it. The WILL feel judged even if they have converted. #1 rule as a minister, DIs it necessary to condemn one person to lift up Jesus?

  • @JHorowitz2mil I think you're commenting on the wrong video

  • the single mom and the child are ALREADY condemned (all have sinned and done wrong), it's just the they don't know it. or maybe they do, i don't know, but the fact is, the moment the single mom was conceived, the moment that the child was concieved they we're already condemend, why? because of the sinful nature that human beings have. therefore God must intervene and save them, and even if God doesn't save them, God is still just and good for giving out the punishment that sinners deserve.

  • 9@JHorowitz2mil Funny if you reread this with the poster in mind he is doing the same thing he accuses Matt of self-righteousness. A goofy unthought out argument. what he's preaching (posting) about he is doing

  • @JHorowitz2mil It's necessary to convict a person in order to draw them to Jesus. Otherwise people make sure they are fine by all accounts (aka religious morality), rather than admit they are completely hopeless with out the love of Christ displayed on the cross.

  • How typically American!

  • i dont believe in god for obivious reasons. one HE DOESNT EXIST!so why would a sane person believe or worship some fictional character in desert tribe myths.another i hate christians and catholic who try to pressure their religion at people and force them to belive or face punishment.ive seen too much of that shit going on.i hate sunday school, jesus camp, catholic school etc.everyone ther a ignorant, racist assholes.and why should i repent for things that i shouldnt repent for.makes no sense.

  • @NOVAGIRL666 I see. I'm not looking for a spiritual bash down with you, I actually really just want to know. I know you don't believe, so I hope you don't think this to be an invalid question. Forget all the Christians/catholics/whatever. If Jesus were to speak to you right now what would do you think he'd say?

  • @dzindzichvilli first off how would i know if the guy is really jesus when it could some schizo hobo. and turning water into wine isnt proof just so you know

to answer your question he'd probably say "worship me or burn in hell" or if he's going to indirect with it then, "if you praise me then you'll live a happy life with me but if you don't then well....you know" i mean considering his character in the bible he's not the kind of person who'd be 'nice' to a nonchristian.

  • @NOVAGIRL666 are you kidding! Jesus chilled with the the outcasts of their society. He broke social barriers and became a social outcast for who He hung out with. He forgave those that people spat on. I know it seems the way you've mentioned because of religious stigmas. But I would encourage you to really seek Him to find who He truly is. LOVE :)

  • @bythecross09 actually no he didnt considering it was a primitive era, outcasts would have been stoned to death for no contributing to society.secondly the romans were in control and still in control even after jesus's death so there wasnt 'any' changes until centuries later.you know jesus is a loophole.another the last line youve said"seek him"is by far the most cliched/empty that it holds no meaning.its like a slut telling a sucker"i love you"only to dump his ass for another the next day.

  • @NOVAGIRL666 lol I would first to suggest to find something better to do than rant on youtube. second I would recommend to look in the bible and read about the prostitute that Jesus stood up for right before stoning, or Jesus with the samaritan woman at the well...if you knew anything about history jews and samaritans hated each other- social boundaries I was talking about. Maybe the bleeding diseased that was deemed unclean and cast out of society which Jesus welcomed with open arms

  • @NOVAGIRL666 Jesus was also hung on a cross.... I believe it's a little more punishment than stoning...why would the romans hang him on the cross if he was a normal man in society not breaking freakin walls down? Question why fight for something so hard when you don't even believe in it??? Why sit on your computer and waste minutes of your life typing out of hate and pride to prove that something you don't believe in doesn't exist? lol go find a chat room.

  • crucified technically.the romans wouldnt have done anything if judas hadnt sold him to them.besides during those times the romans or ancient greece had their own religion(zeus, hades, hera, athena etc.)they viewed christianity as a threat to the country therefore killed anyone who called themselves christians.but christians did the same or worse to people of other religions throughout the globe.i'll admit im a troll but who isnt really.i find it amusing to see christians stupidity and ignorance.

  • @NOVAGIRL666 Judas gave the jews the location of where Jesus was....so if you read it they already sentenced him to death for treason...the romans were polytheistic who could care less about Jesus. It wasn't because of the romans that Jesus was killed it was the jews. the word christian was unknown when Jesus was alive and was first used to mock Christ followers. The crusades that you referred to was of man's evil heart and had nothing to do with Jesus and what he taught.

  • the jews never accepted jesus as a prophet.the romans were the ones who sentenced him.history showed that early christians were presecuted due to religious differences but now in modern times that isnt really the case.as for the crusades, those people were/are christians who killed/raped/kidnapped innocent people from all racial, religious and ethical background and forced assimilation/killed if they dont convert to christianity.they are people who actually believed they are doing god's work

  • just to add,god loved it when his followers murdered/waged war/genocides/slavery/sexist against non-christians.in the old testament god was a barbaric fuck!if you dont know that then you're a lost cause.even in the new testament god/jesus didnt really change their old tactics in ordering christians to blindly obey and harm/go against humanity in forced assimilations and plunder.even today christians are still the immoral/barbaric and loathsome humans who are blind/deaf to embrace reality

  • @NOVAGIRL666 your lack of intellectual knowledge on these subjects and your straight up off the wall "changing of the subject "personality has givin me no choice but to say I will discontinue this conversation in hoping that you will no longer continue in making yourself look like a douche bag.

  • @bythecross09 If you want to REALLY get technical, we all crucified Jesus. The Jews really aren't to blame. It was all of us. We crucified God.

  • @RockSprites I didn't Crucify god.

  • @RockSprites uh. I didn't Crucify god.

  • @NOVAGIRL666

Look, first of all your stereotypes of Christians and the origins of christianity etc, are generally wrong (the first one).

Secondly, have you read the Bible about Christ (seeing as you called him a "schizo hobo"), the guy wasn't crazy.

He was a humanitarian, friend of outcasts, against the pharisees, and most of all the son of God.

Now you can call him crazy all you want, but his moral teachings are accepted as "good" even by unbelievers (turn the other cheek, god over money, etc)

  • @RufusRamen so jesus supporting slavery is a good thing? im sorry but im more moral than jesus/god.now considering that christianity is a desert tribe myth-thing i'd say that we should have evolved passed this craziness of believing in an imaginary figure who in the bible i described as a hitler.ive read the bible and found no evidence of his existence nor any 'moral' value.if jesus is human and claims to cure diseases itd be impossible becasue there was no cure.

  • hey! what sermon did you grab this from.

the link you posted just takes me to the church website.

    Thanks for the help!

  • If I was stranded on an island and got to take one view I could watch over and over again. It would be this video!

  • This logic is wickedly inaccurate.

  • @sduncan392 How is this logic inaccurate? I don't understand how you can say the Bible is logically inaccurate.

  • I am featuring your vid on my channel. What edit software did u use for this?

  • you are amazing! God bless you!

  • The only reason I even watched a small segment of this video is because some christian fanatic told me to. Way to use emotion to appeal to the masses, man. What is really wicked is that so many Europeans have been deluded into following a Middle Eastern god. A belief system completely alien and EVIL to the European peoples. Hail Woden, Heathen King. Hail The Æsir, Hail the Vanir, and Hail the Land and Water Spirits.

  • Thanks

  • @bozcoz this is a little late, but I read your posts and I'd like to interject something. Jesus does not merely cover up sin, the bible tells us in first John that He came to DESTROY it, in doing that He saved us from it. It is by believing in that sacrifice that we are brought back to God. I could go further, but I will end with there are some truths that only people who are children of God can grasp, it's not by anything in us it's by the Holy Spirit that He gave us. The reaa

  • Your video was shown on wretched tv:

    /watch?v=OziQUSbQGVA

  • That video made my day

  • @SteenJdaPenspinna E P I C  F A I L ---> long live Darwinism xD

  • hey man. LOVED the video. thanks for making this. how long did this take u? whered u find the beat and howd u make his voice have those effects? sorry, just beginning to make sermon jams myself and was lookin for tips from the good ones!

  • hey man. LOVED the video. thanks for making this. how long did this take u? whered u find the beat and howd u make his voice have those effects? sorry, just beginning to make sermon jams myself and was lookin for tips from the good ones!

  • @bball1989 i'm glad you liked it! i made it using Adobe Audition. The music was arranged using Audition's Loopology.

If you're looking for a good program to start on, I recommend checking out Audacity. It's does the job and it's free. You can find it at download dot com.

  • @chiefwigie totally man!! thats awesome. i actually use audacity its perfect. where do you get your instrumentals though?

  • @chiefwigie howd you do the effects do chandlers voice? like the very part? or the fast stutter or robot type thing?

  • Technically @bozcoz, we are not his children until we believe. Go read your bible.

  • @islandoger - On the contrary, I see this as quite a clever video, in so much as that it does not distract from the message that is being proclaimed, but the words and simple visuals compliment the audio nicely. Good job chief!

  • I love God, my pastor Matt and The Village Church.

  • this sounds like complete garbage. of course words such as wicked and treacherous and evil are associated with sin. the word bad is associated with sin. for a man to go off and kill children, it's because he is fucked up, it's because of his internal disillusionment or his complete lack of a super ego. the slaughter of innoncence is supposedly an unforgivable sin, so why the fuck wasnt he struck down in the nick of time? why weren't the teachers warned before hand? because shit just happens dude

  • @clogic17 read the bible dude and then you will know why

  • @butterflykisses054 i've read it. aaand? should i use sleeping beauty as gospel truth about what to do should a chick fall into a coma?

  • @clogic17 Obviously you have never read the Bible. It is not an unforgivable sin. There is only one that is unforgivable and that is denying the Holy Spirit. A little research wouldn't hurt you. It just sounds like this video makes you uncomfortable? It should. I can tell by the language you ['re very educated.

  • @jeff5950 i can also tell that you enjoy not doing any research and have persuaded yourself that arrogance is the same as intelligence. i am entitled to my own opinion to this video just like everyone else and just because you do not obviously agree doesnt mean you have the right to insult anyone. and if intelligence is based on the things we type, then your typo would put you right up there with sarah palin

  • umm

  • @islandoger haha so true. though i don't think it was a waste of time, i totally hear what you're saying. i wish i had a clue how to make videos. i'm mostly just an audio guy and had the sermon jam finished and didn't want to put it up on youtube with just a blank screen.

  • @chiefwigie Not true at all, you made a really good jam video here, so dont accomodate the foul blather of islandoger. Well done man.

  • @chiefwigie Definitely not a waste of time.

  • @bozcoz Christianity can be difficult to understand, can't it? And certainly what you write doesn't make sense. But I wonder whether you've actually understood what Christianity claims to be. For example, I don't think any Christian considers Christ to be the main recipient of God's mercy, especially on the cross. Rather, God's mercy would be the part about saving sinners from the punishment they deserve.

  • @bozcoz He gets his definitions from the Bible, boz.

Because God is good, holy, just, and righteous, sin HAS to be punished. And we all do it. So in order that we can be saved from sin, a sacrifice has to be made. And the only sacrifice that could cover up a sinful life is a sinless life. And that was Jesus. And He gladly did it. "Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at......."

  • @SlyPirate The way you describe it, Jesus saves us from the PUNISHMENT. not sin.

When you say "cover up a sinful life" (forgive me for guessing) I assume you mean in the record books while in judgment time.

Fact: covering up a sinful life while being judged in the court room of God is nothing but a coverup and conspiracy with us and Jesus against God.

That shows God is the problem that causes death, not sin.

I don't see any solution to sin in this believe system. Just a way out of punishment.

  • @bozcoz There is no solution to sin. Our sinful nature never leaves us. Our flesh is in constant battle with our mind and spirit. Because of His, our sin isn't held against us. We just confess and repent, accept His free gift of redemption, and we are saved.

And as far as God against Jesus. Are you familiar with the Trinity?

  • @bozcoz Sorry. Because of His sacrifice......*

  • @SlyPirate I know about the Tri and thats one reason jesus covering up our sins from god is so absurd.

First you say: "So in order to be SAVED from sin, a sacrificed has to be made." Then: "Jesus became sin so we could ESCAPE the bondage of sin." Now you say: "There is no solution to sin." wtf! All we gotta do is feel sorry and be saved from punishment?

Id rather be saved from the bondage of sin like you said. None of this PAGAN SACRIFICIAL stuff! Be careful your not another pharasy.

  • @bozcoz "....the right hand of the throne of God." Hebrews 12:2 If He was not good, holy, and just, He would do nothing, and we would be on our own. And there is nothing we can do for ouselves. Jesus became sin so we could escape the bondage of sin. That's called good news. The Gospel:D

  • @bozcoz How ridiculous would it be for a piece of clay to talk back to the potter? What sort of amazement would you have that it even thought it knew better?

In the same way, who are you oh man to talk back to the God who made you?

Don't talk back, trust in the same Jesus who lived a perfect live, died, and rose again from the grave that He can grant you eternal life to be reconciled to God and spend eternity with Him, and turn away from your sin.

  • @becauseHeisgood Assuming God made me, He made me with bad eyesight and bad joints. do i even have to mention people worse off than me? he made me with the ability to think critically, reason, be empathetic, and TALK. So maybe Ill TALK on behalf of Mute people and ask the good and holy God: How could you be so cruel to make innocent babies grow up without basic fundamental abilities, and yet have the impudence to tell them they must love God!

Or maybe mom'n pop created us. please think about it.

  • @bozcoz I think its tough to comprehend but even you said "I wouldn't damn him to eternity of torture". Who are we to compare ourselves to a perfect God? Ironically arrogant of us all to assume we can reason it like the God who created the idea of justice. I think Matt does an honest job at using scripture alone to reason. Unfortunately, this sometimes ends up not being fair in our human opinions.

  • @bozcoz Well, let's put it the same way Jesus explained it. "You are from dust, and He is from above." You are from earth, and He is from eternity and much higher than you. His way's are much higher than yours. You are finite, He is infinite. As Jesus said again, "Unless you believe, He is" you will die in your sin's". Don't be stupid.

  • And also, to put one of the passages where Jesus talks about Hell, Matthew 11:20-24.

But I want to mention.. I don't think that when sharing the Gospel you start with Hellfire and Brimstone.

  • @changartist,

So the question is, why do so many?

Does that make them worse at spreading the gospel or better?

This is where we may agree, but this is the reason, this video originally pissed me off.

You can convert people using fear tactics, it's fucked up, and wrong in so many ways.

  • @usethisspamname

On "thou shalt not kill", the Hebrew word used for "kill" is ratsakh- illegal killing, such as manslaughter.

I encourage you to go to the link, click on Flower Mound campus, go to the Resources tab and look through Matt's sermons. You'll find he doesn't use fear mongering, in fact in 1 sermon he talks about seeing someone standing in the streets yelling out repent or go to hell, and referring to that instance as someone who "hijacked the Gospel."

  • @usethisspamname

This video, is someone's editing of 2 separate sermons Matt did with the main message being, Jesus saves. When one speaks on Hell, and doesn't teach/speak on the rest of God's character or Jesus, that is wrong. But, Hell is (for us Christians) a reality that should be spoken on. The fact that all of us as humans are messed up and broken is a reality and should be spoken on (this is where we disagreed originally I think). But no Hell shouldn't be the only message.

  • Hope you guys get the meaning of this video. The fact that the most hardened relativistic atheists believe that some situations are "evil" and "unjust" gives more evidence to God than not. If you believe we are created out of nothing and we just evolved with no God, we have no reason to look at ANYTHING and call it wicked or evil. That's like saying some are obliged to live and some are not. A secular, atheistic view has no room or reason for moral obligation EVER. Yet EVERY HUMAN has it

  • Ah and when I say "brother's and sister's" it means those you interact with throughout life

  • @usethisspamname

and of course you can settle with living with that truth, but in the case that you aren't settled with that, jesus is offering a way to "overcome" that.

  • @usethisspamname

not necessarily that everyone/the human race is essentially "bad" and our good qualities are just a breaking-through of that "bad"...i agree that we were *supposed* to be/were made essentially "good" it's just that we became broken/flawed along the way...and it's safe to say that nobody is perfect, right? i just wanted to clarify that...

  • that's awesome!

  • Repent... believe... umm... no.

  • emm i agree on some things but i dont think i have to be christian to be good...

still i love the way you presented your ideas very creative and capturing

  • did i just get mindfucked?

  • Wooooooo! Now that I know that I'm already guilty, and I'm already a sinner. Better go grab my bible!

Actually Matt, I don't believe there is something wrong with humanity. I don't think we're naturally guilty, or sinners.

I don't think we need to grab our bible's and kiss your ass to make sure we aren't damned.

Gutenberg would be completely disappointed in us. Instead of reading and understanding on our own, we still feel like we need dipshits to tell us what god means.

  • @usethisspamname You don't think there's something wrong with humanity? You must not read the paper, watch tv or even leave the house. All I have to do is get on the highway to go to work and I can see there is something wrong with humanity that they'll cuss each other out and road rage just because someone was going the speed limit in front of them when they wanted to speed. And that's just the mundane, not the things that take my breath away like rape, murder and child prostitution...

  • @dharris1920,

People need to be careful about what they read, and what they see on TV.

My general rule is: "If it's on the local news, just pretend you didn't see it". News Producers tend to follow the creed, "If it bleeds it leads".

So people cuss each other in the car. You characterize that as evil?! You're going to group that with rape, murder, and child prostitution?

    Come on now.

My fear is that you may be watching too much news, and suffer from the effects of cultivation theory.

  • @usethisspamname I actually didn't classify them as the same. I distinctly separated them saying "that's not even mentioning the things that take my breath away like:" meaning that I deem them to be on two different levels.

I like your idea of pretending things didn't happen and that your consistent. There was no creation, there was no messiah, there was no resurrection, there is no evil in the world and there will be no return of the messiah. If I don't acknowledge it, it doesn't exist.

  • @dharris1920,

"I'd rather be an optimist and a fool than a pessimist and right."

That's an awfully terrible existence to believe that the mass population is evil, and that people are naturally bad.

What it seems to me is 99.9% of people in the world simply want to live their lives in peace with their neighbors, but we as a society like to point out the .1% of people fucking up.

That's the tragic part, not the bullshit Mr. Matt is yelling about in this video.

  • @usethisspamname U don't think there is something wrong with humanity??? You out of ur fucking mind???

  • @Nikinikas,

    Ok, let's have a conversation.

Why do you think there is something wrong with humanity? Some reasons or examples would be nice.

And if you provide reasons, what do you propose for a solution?

  • @usethisspamname Crime, Drugs, Suicide, War, Death Greed, aren't all these things what are happening currently in the world today??? Do u not think there is something wrong with that???

  • @Nikinikas,

Death is an inevitable part of life. Do you mean killing?

Suicide is tragic to those left behind, but it may be empowering to the one who commits it. One thing that individual has complete control over. His/her life: That's a powerful thing.

War: Yes War is pretty bad, but the reason War exists is because of the few making the poor kill each other.

Drugs aren't bad. Marijuana should be legal. Some prescript drugs should be illegal.

    People by nature are good.

  • @Nikinikas,

I think it's tragic that you have such a pessimistic outlook on life.

Does religion have to drag you down to the bottom just so it has a chance to bring you back up?

Is that really a way to live your life?

  • @usethisspamname

We (including yourself) cannot truly believe that 99.9% of people want to live in peace becuase if they did they would not commit evil acts. Like lie, steal, hate (murder as the scripture tells us), lust (adultery as the scripture tells us) because those are things do not lead to peace. If anyone lied, stole, or hated you would that bring peace between the two of you. NO it would not. We do live in a corrupt world.

  • @mm3044,

Why can't an act of lying, stealing, or hating be the catalyst that provides peace?

The incredible ironic puzzle piece on the table right now is that you are spitting these retched statements about the evils of people, and yet, you follow the philosophy of Jesus of Nazareth.

The funniest thing is according to Jesus' teachings, he'd be on my team rather that yours.

Turn the other cheek, love they neighbor, do unto others, forgive.

    Matthew 18:21-22

  • @usethisspamname : Why can't an act of lying, stealing, or hating be the catalyst that provides peace? - OK, lets have THAT conversation after I steal you wallet, or car, or bash you over your head and make off with your cell phone

  • @usethisspamname

You say that Jesus would be on your side and pull 2 verses from 1 chapter in the Bible which, if you read it in context, is NOT about keeping silent about sin, or even remotely about "acts of lying, stealing, or hating be the catalyst that provides peace" being justified. Instead, It's about engaging one's brothers and sisters with grace and mercy, just as God was merciful to us.

And there is not a single piece in the life of Jesus where he supports what you are talking about.

  • @changartist,

    Time out, technical foul...

The Bible has to be taken in context??!!!!

I want you to tell me where Jesus said that were are all evil sinners, and are going to burn in hell if we don't repent now.

Then I want you to write me all of the "in context" quotes from Jesus that speak on compassion.

Then we can talk about them.

BTW, a book written by desert nomads 2000 years ago doesn't exactly hold any context with anything we deal with today. We have the internet.

  • @usethisspamname

Yes the Bible has to be taken in context, otherwise anyone can pull a part of 1 verse and make it sound like anything they want it to be and not what the Bible is actually saying.

Jesus's message is about salvation. Just because He's not talking about Hell in every sermon or parable doesn't mean it's contrary to what He taught. He clearly states that He is salvation (John 14:6). Salvation from what? From Sin, which leads to what? eternal death, aka Hell.

  • @changartist,

Well salvation and compassion. Much or Jesus' teachings were about what to do with your time on earth as opposed to making sure you're prepared for the afterlife.

I also feel like eternal death is kind of a given. When you die, you're eternally dead on the earth, whether or not you "live on" in the afterlife or not.

  • @usethisspamname

True Jesus's taught a lot on salvation, him being the Savior the world was waiting for, and compassion. He does teach on preparing for the afterlife. Matthew 6:19-24 Storing Treasures in Heaven, Matthew 13:44-46, on the kingdom of Heaven, Matthew 19:16-36 Jesus addresses an issue of the heart that prevents one from recieving eternal life.

  • @usethisspamname

Going back to Matthew 11:20-24, Jesus is talking about the day of judgement and in v 23 the Greek word used is "Hades" their description of Hell. Again His message is that of Salvation from Hell which is eternal death of the soul.

Finally, I don't think that all your objections to Christianity can be answered through comment-comment conversation. All I can say is I am praying for you, and I encourage you to read the Bible and also go to the site (in previous comment).

  • @changartist,

    Thank you for your conversation.

I would love to speak with you in person if that day every blesses us.

If praying for me helps you, then have at it hoss.

    All the best. :-)

  • @usethisspamname

Jesus also teaches on how sin is bad. You're saying nothing from this "book written by desert nomads 2000 years ago" holds any context w/ what we deal w/ today yet you try to say Jesus is on your side and quote 2 verses from this same book?

You don't think the commandments are relevant today? Like Don't lie, murder, lust, etc? And the Internet? Where you can google random mess and find "evidence" on it? Also, find a verse where Jesus supports hate, stealing, and lies.

  • @changartist,

No I don't think the commandments are relative today.

But that depends are we taking them all, or picking and choosing?

If we're picking and choosing, or course the ones you mentioned are relevant, but we as a society would have come up with those anyway.

The proof that "thou shalt not kill" is secular are the amount of Christians who believe in the death penalty, or who feel killing in war is, "ok".

I would say Jesus' words are very relevant, the old testament, not so much.

  • @usethisspamname

So the commandments are relevant to a degree... which means that the nomadic book is relevant to a degree. When you say nomadic book are you saying The Bible, or The Old Testament?

Because Jesus's teachings are part of The Bible, and if you search through His teachings, He references, clarifies, and quotes the Old Testament. Which means the Old Testament was (and according to you) relevant since Jesus's teachings are relevant.

  • @changartist,

Well I think you make the whole point here.

Jesus took the quotes of the Old Testament and clarified them. Jesus' teachings of love and compassion were obvious upgrades to what went on the in the old Testament.

What we do now is take Jesus' teachings and update them for our time.

The love, compassion, and forgiveness remains. The bullshit of burning for eternity, inequality of women and homosexuals, and the belief in Big Brother bullshit goes away.

  • @changartist,

And we get to lose the fucking scare tactics from assholes like Matt Chandler telling me that I'm living a horrible life if I haven't excepted Jesus Christ in my life.

  • Thats some deep stuff. Like we be saying in the hood..."Aint that the truf' !"

  • That was awesome! Love it.

  • Pastor MC rocks the house!
