Im thinking of buying a 6.0l v8 Caprice. Do you think it's a good idea? My children are tall and have long feet so thats one of the reasons ive chosen it. Any help would be appreciated. Whats the petrol consumption like?
How did the test drive go? I bought a V8 Caprice a year ago and its been a great product. Heaps of power and very sure on the road, plus loads of features.
Pricewise this is a great car. I'm actually considering to buy one of those early next year. I own a merc s320, I am going for a test drive for a v8 carprice next week. Very looking forward to it. Hope it's got something better than my s320.
@blackboykwayne1990 i'm not sure if it's an extra, most like standard in caprices, they have an alright resale value, but sometimes the resale value depends on why the driver is selling it... and they may not always tell you why lol. but they ain't bad, my main problem with the holden caprice is the fact that it's buick variation has 10x the interior the holden version does, check it out, buick park avenue, it's crazy.
i've driven both the v8 and v6 statesman, honestly i wouldnt spend the extra for the v8. v6 engine is the high output and for city driving it does the job perfectly. you wouldnt be able to use all the v8's power in the city. for highway obviously its quicker when overtaking.
I've driven both and that's how I came to the conclusion that the V8 is pretty much useless in town, however its up to you... I guess you'd have to give both a go yourself to decide what you prefer.
The Caprice has those chromed door handles and they look amazing. I love it and apparently, we can specifically ask for them for Calais and SS-V models. Only question is, are those chromed handles going to be a problem for people like me who gets static shock to the fingers in dry days. I want my SS-V to have those handles but I can't stand being shocked every time I touch it. Quite dangerous too at the pumps. Does anyone have the same experience?
Over the last 24 years i've driven both Ford and Holden. This car stands out because it has heaps of luxury appointments, DVD player as standard etc.
Sure HSV & FPV are making damn quick cars, but in the end, there is a speed limit , and what better way to travel than in the luxury of one of these saloons.
Bearing in mind that it also comes with a 245Kw 5.7 V8 too. That way you can enjoy the comfortable drive and feel a reasonable amount of power now and again
This gets my vote for the new "RWD" Impala. The exterior looks familiar yet fresh all at the same time. The increase in interior space is long overdue.
I instantly fell in love when I first saw this car. And that's just from pictures. I immediately thought it's what the Impala SHOULD be.
And to now see it in "the flesh", in action, it's the stuff dreams are made of. Lol. I'll keep my fingers crossed that this beauty finds its way to American shores fitted with a nice Golden "bowtie"! :)
I just drove the Pontiac G8 GT. It's an amazing car, but the interior is a little stark. Okay, I'm a little spoiled, as I own a Mercedes S600. Whereas I will pass on the G8, I could see this Caprice in my driveway. Most of the luxury of the big S Class, but a lot less cash.
Good on you mate, it's rare for someone who owns a European prestiage brand car but still admires what Holden does. Holden is amazing, comfort, driving dynamics, appeal and affordability all come in to play.
Thanks for repost and doing whatever you did. I enjoyed it again. As I stated before I am in America. I am a fan of GM Australia(Holden). I also noted this car was sold in China(Buick), the Middle East(Chevrolet), Korea(Daewoo) and not in America. I also stated it would be a great Oldsmobile 98 or 88.

The only thing that made these models very ugly, is the short boot, looks like shit.

@blackboykwayne1990 not sure for the caprice, but the HSV Grange which is the performance version is getting the E3 upgrade. google it.

HOLDENS are popular cars in new Zealand and Australia

Isn't Holden a GM? The sound of the car sounded so similar to a GM V6.
pjtart 1 year ago
yep, that's spot on.. its a GM engine - GM Holden is the company

Will the V6 be alittle slugish cuz its such a bigger car than the standard Commodore?I'm sure is heavier than a Calais or SV6.

I think the new SIDI 210KWs will do the trick but not sure if the 195KW will due to the extra weight.

Actually, it comes with a choice of 6L or 3.6L. But the rest of your comment is spot on.

GM should export this car to America and brand it as a Buick Park Avenue, Cadillac Fleetwood, and Chevrolet Caprice
