the lack of moving arms is heart-breaking. Bought the plastic metalic version for my son for Christmas and the red lion /arm joint broke right after trying to put Voltron apart after the 1st time. Saddest thing is that I broke it trying to help, believe me being an experienced collector I 'm probably more broken hearted than my son. I wish there was an affordable Voltron combiner version for kids out there (skipping the Taiwan version which gods know whether it complies at all with CPSC).
@Centella85 yeah its a shame..also too bad there isnt a cheap combiner. The Taiwan version might be iffy. Trendmasters was selling a diecast combiner based off of the Bandai one for $29.99 a few years back. That was a bargain. Now they are selling for $200
if you guy remember there where different versions of voltron when it came out. There was a version where the cannons on the lion backs where able to raise up and then there where ones that didn't. other than that the diecast paint jobs use to chip off like crazy if played with too much. Just wanted to share that.
I am a HUGE fan of Voltron but sadly watching the episodes as an adult does not bring the same joy it did back then. I highly recommend Golion if you find Voltron too childish. The Japanese version is much darker and entertaining. Its the same cartoon, just unedited and with original storyline. Voltron was very watered down for the US market.
@Thedeadmatrix Youre talking about the diecast right? This is the Plastic version. I have no issues with my other plastice version, just this one had a seized arm which was fixed. Aside form that its a great figure
I figured out how to fix it. I stuck a square shafted screwdriver same size as sockets. Then I carefully unseized the sockets by turning the screwdriver slowly until It spun. The gloss coat apparently worked its way in there and seized the rotating movement.
This version is more closely colored to the Diecast Masterpiece version, but it does not contain any diecast at all. Do not be turned off by lack of diecast, this thing is tall and has decent heft.
correct, this is the third version. First was a diecast version limited to 15000, second was the same set just in plastic, third is also the same but with metallic finish
The actual toy CAN do it, its just that this particular one cant. I have 4 other plastic normal versions and 2 diecast and they are fine, they can all pose normally, but this new metallic one is giving me problems. Its as if the rotating mechanism is seized. I am about to open up the other metallic ones to check...yes I have many voltrons...big fan :)
I didnt take the other ones out. I was about to send it back for a return and decided to give it another try, turns out sticking a screwdriver shaft thats same square size as the socket allowed me to spin it free.

SUPREMEQUEEN09 1 year ago
@SUPREMEQUEEN09 No need, I took a screwdriver to it and freed the arm. VERY scary cause I heard a snap, but it was just the paint unseizing

kind of a disappointing figure compared to the die-cast metal versions
kranktank 1 year ago
@kranktank Maybe, although they ARE much cheaper and easier to get and come in a much better vintage style box with windows and styrofoam.

dude my uncle gave me one from the 80s and it is way awesomer than this. even though it is more boxy and stuff.

Thanks for the review. Just one point that I'm unclear... this 25th anniversary Voltron contains die-cast metal?

Nice review. One of the better toy presentations out there. So this is the third Toymani version of Voltron? The first used metal, right?

nice Review :)
about the arms, i think it could be just urs, it would be pointless to show voltron posing on the side of the box while the actual toy cant do it
