Win-Win indeed that mouthbreathers (that's you and your ilk) think for one minute that a single human being is going to unplug a single gadget, much less turn back the clock to 1880. @ClownFight , you said Global Warming scientists are funded by the government and start-up energy companies, which is completely insane. Big oil is challenging the truth, not the other way around.
@bowlingballout I believe that just as 97% of the scientists who proved that climate change is real your are also a Harvard, MIT, Berkeley etc scientist. right? And btw, it was republicans who renamed it climate change just before big oil paid them millions.

@Lorax4Life Climate change is happening. The argument is are people causing it to happen. The belief in man made climate change is nothing but a ploy for power and money. There was climate change before man and there will be climate change after man. Climate change has been going on for billions of years so why are you concerned about it now? Man made climate change Is the new religion for the week minded, give us your wealth and sacrifice while the kings (politicians) live high on the hog.
I couldn't agree more bowlingball. I've been to Clingman's Dome in TN, the highest point in the state and second highest in the est. All of the trees up there are dead. When you see pictures from years ago, there was lush greenery. The view is clouded by smog. This is a result of pollution that I would like to see changed. Changing climate as a result? Don't believe that's the case. Climate changes up and down throughout history. Why would we think that all of a sudden the cause is different?
The conservative unscientific bias is immediately evident in anyone who brings up some ad hominem claim they are being "oppressed" by some "liberal" bias during the proven AGW theory.
I am a fierce animal rights soldier, but even *I* found this hilarious! Yeah - that Sharpton-Hitler (Robertson) PSA annoyed me.
I am also NOT a pacifist. I believe each individual should be allowed to choose which war to fund and morally support. The "support-the-troop" wacko-Nazis are the biggest bunch of fanatical hypocrites, telling me I should be forced to support gov't troops even MORE than I already do (with my taxes).
Why is it that the average Joe can't see the difference between predictions and facts. Global Warming theory is a worst case scanario put forward by a group of scientists funded by Governments and start-up energy technology companies.
Sure, pollution is bad, we know that, but people won't switch to a more expensive, more complicated energy source unless they're threatened with the end of the world.
It's a great marketing strategy designed to bankrupt the Arabs... but it ain't necessarily true.
Even if you don't believe global warming is real, why would you not support all of the positive actions toward energy independence that are a direct result of believing in it -- especially if you call yourself a "fierce environmentalist???" You say "gobal warming' is going to make people rich" But I would rather have people becoming rich off from solar, wind, geothermal energy, etc. rather than BIG OIL (nonrenewable resource) getting more of our money and polluting the environment with it.
I totally agree that we humans are trashing our home, the Earth. I'm just not ready to making the leap of faith that our atmosphere is warming up beyond what is cyclical and normal. Thanks for commenting.
It's not about whether or not global warming is the fault of man or if we can change it.
It IS about the fact that there are only so many resources and we DON'T control those resources. Until we start conquering Iraq, Iran, and accumulating those resources for ourselves the people who do control the resources will sell them to the highest bidder, or keep them for themselves. It's almost more about economic freedom than enviromental protection.
I think we should try to solve any problem that we recognize whether we actually succeed or not only time will tell. Better to try and fail than never try at all in my opinion.
I was giving a clear voice to your opinion, to make you realize how stupid you sound.
I'm positive we have all of the means and technologies today that can solve this crisis.
We simply need the willpower to bring the change into place.
And the scientific community has shown on many occasions that there is agreement among the vast majority of scientists that there exists an important necessity to save our climate from disaster.
Two points to consider. You cannot prove it sufficiently for me with what is and or has been purported. I don't buy into the notion that samples taken over the amount of time that science has been worth a damn means anything in the big picture.
That said, I do agree with your notion that- "I'm positive we have all of the means and technologies today that can solve this crisis.
We simply need the willpower to bring the change into place."
If that statement is true, I agree, we should act.
When you say that my argument is silly, if you are talking about man's ability to harm the environment I do agree we are killing ourselves with pollution.
My other argument is that we DO NOT have the power to stop any purported warming, and if we do have the power (something I reject) we do not have the will.
I can take a beautiful oak tree and destroy it, but that doesn't mean I reconstruct one.
We can destroy the Earth, yes, but we cannot put it back together. We don't have that ability.
"My other argument is that we DO NOT have the power to stop any purported warming, and if we do have the power (something I reject) we do not have the will."
So we'll just sit on our asses until the human species (along with most other life on Earth) is destroyed? This could take as little as ten years.
Even if we didn't have the power, don't you think it wise to at least TRY? In this scenario, whether we take action or not, we're all dead in the end, right? Why not at least try?
"I can take a beautiful oak tree and destroy it, but that doesn't mean I reconstruct one."
Right.
Picture the Earth as this tree.
The human race is a lumberjack.
GHG emissions are the chainsaw.
We are so close to cutting away enough of the tree that it will very soon fall down.
We can stop the chainsaw, protect the exposed cuts in the tree, and try to bring it back to its original state. We cannot put it back together, we can only stop ourselves from destroying it, and give it time to heal.
I'm assuming that you mean the temperature records we have are too unreliable, since they don't go back far enough?
If you take a look at the ice cores analysis, which gives measurements of the global temperature going back over 400 thousand years, you'll see that we are changing the natural cycle of climate on our planet.
I think you fell and hit your head. Anyone that thinks like you do doesn't even have a head to fall on. Maybe you were thinking with the other head that you thought with when you were a teenager
Great argument. Leading with the oft favorite ad hominem attacks.
Argumentum ad populi may be sufficient for you, but it isn't for me.
Was the case closed a long time ago, or just your mind?
The human species will follow the course of most other species, namely extinction, what makes you feel so special that it should be thrust upon a generation other than your own?
A little conceited to think it should befall others and not you.
"Destroy our natural ecosystem, and take every animal and plant on Earth with us to the grave!"
"The human species will follow the course of most other species, namely extinction, what makes you feel so special that it should be thrust upon a generation other than your own?"
You should consider that we would be directly responsible for our own extinction. If we have the means to save ourselves, why are we not doing so?
Here is the basic idea. 1 Science is the best tool of prediction man has ever created, sorry Nostradamus. 2 All of the well respected scientists agree that current human industrial acticities, if not significantly changed within the decade, will catastrophically alter the Earths climate; 3 - The most likely outcome (by far) is a mass extincition and unimaginable human and economic losses; an unrecoverable loss of life support capacity on the only spaceship we have.
Based on your comment, I hit the exact mark I was aiming for. I was illustrating absurdity with absurdity. Whether or not there is legitimate global warming, whether or not it is exacerbated by man, those original commercials were beyond farcical. You couldn't possibly think those commercials had any value unless you wrote or produced them.
last time i checked the native americans crossed a land bridge between asia and the americas when there was a mile of ice over canada. rewind another few thousand years and giant cold blooded reptiles could survive because it was a predominantly tropic planet.. carbon levels follow temperature because temperature changes H2O vapor content and throttles density of life. toxic fumes suck and we should ditch FFs but climate crisis = more fear mongering.
There are a few things about Global Warming that don't quite add up... but on the other hand, it's probably a good idea not to be wasteful, etc. Funny video!
Look, I don't want to bust your chops on this any more. We are in agreement that this planet is in peril, but NOT from global climate change. The real problems lie in over population and pollution. Those are actual problems that we can see, measure and there isn't any debate about.
We will pollute ourselves out of existence far sooner than 'roast ourselves' by raising temps by 1-5 degrees (a concept I reject).
90% of all species that have ever lived are now extinct, what makes us so special that we should be spared the same fate? If it's our time, then it's our time.
Global Warming is modern day Phlogiston, the proof of its folly won't be declared until decades after our deaths, but once it has been we will join the pantheon of other idiotic cultures that were afraid of their own shadows.
Good day to you just the same, no ill will - just differences of opinions.
Here is an answer you probably aren't prepared for.
Scenario 1) There is a creator. Answer: He won't let his creation be destroyed by mankind.
Scenario 2) Big Bang/Evolution. Answer: What difference does it make, the Earth is going to fall back into the Sun when the Universe collapses onto itself. Read your scientific texts, they'll tell you that's our fate.
Somehow the death of the entire Universe is more interesting to me than the current crop of human's silly notions.
1) If there is a "creator," I'm sure he won't give a shit if some insignificantly superior race on an insignificant planet becomes extinct. And in case you haven't realized, this "creator" hasn't intervened at any point in documented history, and plenty of awful things have happened in that time.
2) That's our eventual end, quite possibly a few million years from now. The climate crisis is upon us NOW. So unless you want to see you and your children die, TAKE ACTION.
Looks like we're in agreement. I'm no fan of any creator. Even if there was one, he'd have lot's of 'splainin' to do Lucy.
We as a species are so full of our own crap. I wish I could be a fly on the wall in an ant hill (is that even possible? I digress) It must be fun to hear them discuss all the goings on too.
What's difference between death now and death then? Do you think you are more valuable than future generations.
You lead the way, by moving into a tent and turning of the electricity.
I don't think he thinks he is more valuable than future generations, I think he is supporting them. Let's face it, it's a problem and we need to end it.
Haha hillariously great video! I would consider myself a conservative environmentalist, but dont buy into the gospel of global warming that seems to be circulating the public eye. I dont agree with the notion that if you dont believe Al Gore's lies that you like to pollute. There is a complete opposite spectrum of scientists who question whether gw is really happening, and if so, what is exactly causing it. Thanks for posting!
There immediate ways to solve the problems but it will take drastic action. Wecansolveitorg is not one of them.
We Can Solve It recruits global memberships and donations but refuses to allow any products on their website unless it is made in the USA. That's not global thinking that is nationalism which is what got us into the shit world we are now facing.
I suggest immediate cessation of all oil production or use. Of course trying to get along without heating oil, and plastics may be a difficult transition. How are you going to keep warm Canada, lot's and lot's of wool blankets?
Even Ed Bagley Jr. scarfs down the resources. I suggest you lead the way and unplug your modern lifestyle. Until then, you invalidate your own point.
You invalidate your own point because your are on the oil bandwagon. You think that oil production is the cause of global problems but that's just where you are wrong.
There is one reason for the emission of 90 percent greenhouse gases into the atmosphere and you miss the mark thinking it is oil production. Carbon emissions due to oil by-products is such a small fraction of the problem as to be almost non existence.
There must be an immediate moratorium yes but it's not oil.
BBO, I´m not uptight...but the thing is...sometimes people cry wolf is a prank, then the wolf does come and no matter how much they cry wolf again, the others won´t believe it is true...comic if it weren´t tragic.
Shouldn't Hitler be where the Republican was and Mosses be where the Democrats was? lol But seriously there are a lot of strong facts support man made global warming. We need to do something about it and maybe get back some of those jobs we lost to China and India back while were at it.
While I agree with your stance on being skeptical of any special interest movement, I think that it is rather unscientific to assume that there are no climate change crises on the sole basis that special interest groups are talking about them.
man you are awesome , that is such a great video.Global warming is BS and the people that believe it are dumb sheep. The iceage came and went,WHY?,What did we do? It's a natural earth cycle FOOLS.
Yeah, the typical liberal bias gets old. Just because we are smart enough not to buy into the global warming crap doesn't mean we like pollution, yet that is what many uninformed people think.
I think it possible to be an environmentalist in practice (I am) without having to run around like chicken little. We have so many real problems on Earth that I can't imagine giving so much energy (like the bad pun?) to something so utterly unprovable.
I wonder where the producers of the actual commercial came up with *their* ideas. We have to thank them for all their hilarity in the first place. ;^)
I am Mr. Environment in my family, always reusing, recycling, composting ... all that. Pollution is a serious issue, but I giggle at learned men's need to believe in the boogie man.
Dare I say it? Hell yeah!
Global warming is the new AIDS. Just a cause celeb, where people can be cool for just wearing a ribbon.
There is always that risk, angering people, when one goes into political humor. The point was to illustrate how foolish the actual commercials were. Have you seen the commercial with Pat Robertson and Al Sharpton?
People who get easily offended probably aren't part of your target market anyway, especially if they see you're just doing it for fun. Maybe put these on RightArm Prod, but I kind of like everything on one channel.
People tend to mistakenly link GW with other global problems. Yes, there are many complex issues we have to face, but nothing like the images that are being promulgated. IMO
Must be so comforting to believe that we can pump trillions of tons of previously fossilized carbon into the atmosphere with no ill effects on climatic stability. Great, too, that espousing such a ridiculous belief dovetails perfectly with the interests of the most powerful & entrenched political forces in the world. The polar ice caps have expanded and receded for millions of years, yet somehow we are still here.
But NOW, we must panic because certain doom is near?
There is no sound logic to support the 30 years of ice study and how it relates to the millions of years unstudied polar cap studies.

There are a few things about Global Warming that don't quite add up... but on the other hand, it's probably a good idea not to be wasteful, etc. Funny video!
blackturtleus 3 years ago
"Do you think you are more valuable than future generations."
Have you even listened to what I'm telling you?
If we follow your route, do nothing, become extinct in a few years, THERE ARE NO FUTURE GENERATIONS.
If we follow my route, there's hope for the future... even though we will all die eventually, future generations will thank us for taking action.
jroy375 3 years ago
Look, I don't want to bust your chops on this any more. We are in agreement that this planet is in peril, but NOT from global climate change. The real problems lie in over population and pollution. Those are actual problems that we can see, measure and there isn't any debate about.
We will pollute ourselves out of existence far sooner than 'roast ourselves' by raising temps by 1-5 degrees (a concept I reject).
bowlingballout 3 years ago
I believe you are uneducated as to the possible effects of the climate crisis:
en wikipedia org/wiki/Effects_of_global_warming
Hate to break it to you, but NASA has predicted that we will likely hit the tipping point (natural feedback, look it up) in less than 10 years.
Unfortunately, almost every other problem facing humanity will be like rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic.
Listen, the fact is, I WANT the IPCC, the scientific majority, and others like me to be dead wrong.
jroy375 3 years ago
90% of all species that have ever lived are now extinct, what makes us so special that we should be spared the same fate? If it's our time, then it's our time.
Global Warming is modern day Phlogiston, the proof of its folly won't be declared until decades after our deaths, but once it has been we will join the pantheon of other idiotic cultures that were afraid of their own shadows.
Good day to you just the same, no ill will - just differences of opinions.
bowlingballout 3 years ago
Do you have proof that the climate crisis is a "hoax"?
You should probably watch this video:
tinyurl com/2ys297
jroy375 3 years ago
Here is an answer you probably aren't prepared for.
Scenario 1) There is a creator. Answer: He won't let his creation be destroyed by mankind.
Scenario 2) Big Bang/Evolution. Answer: What difference does it make, the Earth is going to fall back into the Sun when the Universe collapses onto itself. Read your scientific texts, they'll tell you that's our fate.
Somehow the death of the entire Universe is more interesting to me than the current crop of human's silly notions.
bowlingballout 3 years ago
bowlingballout,
1) If there is a "creator," I'm sure he won't give a shit if some insignificantly superior race on an insignificant planet becomes extinct. And in case you haven't realized, this "creator" hasn't intervened at any point in documented history, and plenty of awful things have happened in that time.
2) That's our eventual end, quite possibly a few million years from now. The climate crisis is upon us NOW. So unless you want to see you and your children die, TAKE ACTION.
jroy375 3 years ago
Looks like we're in agreement. I'm no fan of any creator. Even if there was one, he'd have lot's of 'splainin' to do Lucy.
We as a species are so full of our own crap. I wish I could be a fly on the wall in an ant hill (is that even possible? I digress) It must be fun to hear them discuss all the goings on too.
What's difference between death now and death then? Do you think you are more valuable than future generations.
You lead the way, by moving into a tent and turning of the electricity.
bowlingballout 3 years ago
I don't think he thinks he is more valuable than future generations, I think he is supporting them. Let's face it, it's a problem and we need to end it.
GreenOatmeal 3 years ago
Haha hillariously great video! I would consider myself a conservative environmentalist, but dont buy into the gospel of global warming that seems to be circulating the public eye. I dont agree with the notion that if you dont believe Al Gore's lies that you like to pollute. There is a complete opposite spectrum of scientists who question whether gw is really happening, and if so, what is exactly causing it. Thanks for posting!
d2eux 3 years ago
There immediate ways to solve the problems but it will take drastic action. Wecansolveitorg is not one of them.
We Can Solve It recruits global memberships and donations but refuses to allow any products on their website unless it is made in the USA. That's not global thinking that is nationalism which is what got us into the shit world we are now facing.
buddyboyofcanada 3 years ago
I suggest immediate cessation of all oil production or use. Of course trying to get along without heating oil, and plastics may be a difficult transition. How are you going to keep warm Canada, lot's and lot's of wool blankets?
Even Ed Bagley Jr. scarfs down the resources. I suggest you lead the way and unplug your modern lifestyle. Until then, you invalidate your own point.
bowlingballout 3 years ago
bowlingballout

We need to do something about it and maybe get back some of those jobs we lost to China and India back while were at it.
maxmydog25 3 years ago
While I agree with your stance on being skeptical of any special interest movement, I think that it is rather unscientific to assume that there are no climate change crises on the sole basis that special interest groups are talking about them.

There is always that risk, angering people, when one goes into political humor. The point was to illustrate how foolish the actual commercials were. Have you seen the commercial with Pat Robertson and Al Sharpton?
