For english speakers, the singer is Hagoromo Amatsu (real name: Tomoko Yamada), who sang this song, which is called "Kichi Monogatari." This is a style of singing called "rokyoku" (also, "naniwabushi") and this style dates back to the Meiji era.. Sadly, she passed at age 54 in 1982.
