@esca8652 Yes. I live in Mumbai. The real estate boom just started less than ten years ago. In ten years, we've made many tall buildings and by 2015, we will be adding more than 4 300m + buildings to our skyline.

The slum problem is also being addressed, it's not like there's no hope to it. by 2013, there planning to rehabilitate 5% of the population and by 2020, 100%.

what i do get is why is everyone saying that Dubai has the best skyline? It only has the tallest building in the world so far a couple other tall buildings but other than that over half of the city is either empty or under construction and the drop in oil caused the city to almost stop building because theres no money.

@jebxbouck94 actually the definition of a skyscraper is just a building the dominates and overlooks its surroundings. The great pyramid in Giza is classed as a 'skyscraper'. Any building over 300m is called a 'Supertall'

@xcited4vids No, the definition doesn't give a specific height and it certainly isn't as high as 800 feet! By your standards there is only 1 skyscraper in London, whereas in fact there are 9.

Also it doesn't have to include office workers, the Burj al Arab is over 1000ft tall and doesn't have an office worker anywhere on site, yet is called a skyscraper.

2. Chicago (More Newer skyscrapers in Chicago than NYC as of 2009)

3. New York (Old but cool Skyscrapers, City not very clean)

4. Shanghai (Developing very fast)

5. Tokyo (Developing very fast)

6. Dubai (Was developing very fast but at the moment development is slow)

Including LA. Downtown seems to be LA's main skyline, but LA has the most skyinesin the US- about 30.

Almost every skyline have neon lights, and built to withstand earthquakes.

So really, you go by fairness and beauty. NYC and Chicago are cheap.

Chicago and NYC have the best skylines in the world hands down.Every city that has built a skyline after the two is just copying off NYC and Chicago. NYC is the richest city in America in terms of GDP and Chicago has the most diverse economy in the U.S. These cities are the epitome of skylines for the world to follow.I'm a student of architecture and anybody affiliated with architecture knows this.
