  • everything looks delicious, more people should really know how and take the time to do this. I'm 21 and dont know how to do any canning/food prep..my parents dont know a whole lot about it to teach me, and my grandparents are gone, but i do remember some stuff about gardening...food is just getting way to expensive, especially if you wanna eat good healthy food and not the shit that most people eat these days..so this year im growing my first garden and trying to can a little extra.

  • @AmericanRaven19 That is just fantastic!!! You are making an excellent decision! You can learn just like I did and if there is anything I can help you with I'll be more than glad to help! The first thing you want to do is get the bible of canning and that is the Ball canning blue book!!! It will show you step by step how to can almost anything! Good luck! Larry

  • @larrylhall thanks for the book info, and i'll be sure to ask if i have questions...im sure i'll have at least a few lol

  • @AmericanRaven19 You bet thanks Larry

  • Great video, very informative! Thanks and God Bless!

  • @jesus77755 Well thank you very much!!!

  • I've been doing the stick skewer deal... Great idea, thanks for sharing!

  • @wesbilly Thanks my pleasure!

  • Packers are cool. I liked since I was a kid. But I'm not a huge fan. Got to love you home states team too.

  • @Eszra I was a Packers fan long before there was a Minnesota Viking team!!! I will always be a Packers fan!

  • @larrylhall Go for you. By the way I love the video!

  • @Eszra Thanks!

  • @larrylhall A good thing about the Packers, and the reason I have respect for them... They are the ONLY team that is still owned by the public.

  • @BloodSteed YUP!

  • Lary I live on a 10 acre farm I have a large garden and 2 small gardens I try to can as much as time allows me. Do you think the MS jars are as heavy duty as the Ball or Kerr, up to this point I have not used Main Stay. I tried a no name brand one time before and they chiped around the seal easily so i have ben afraid to try off brands. Thank you for your video and happy canning

  • @jethrob34 So far I have had no problem with them and I canned alot of stuff! I still ask around there are a lot of people that have canning cars just sitting around! People just don't can anymore! Good for us bad for them! Just ask around check craigs list! Or put an ad on craigs list asking to buy jars cheap I bet you get responses. Ten acres huh? Wow I would die to have ten acres. I could really get in trouble with that much land! ha ha

  • got news for ya main stay jars went up $7.88 for quarts

  • @jethrob34 I buy all mine at closeout!

  • that chicken base they make is great also.

  • @dieselmac Yes it is!!! I use it all the time!!!

  • That's some good looking chuck roast! Yum! Thanks for the video. :)

  • @PinkAlphaMom My pleasure

  • Hi, how long do you let the jars cool before you remove from the canner after you remove the lid from the pressure cooker??

  • @technician775 Once all pressure has gone down on the canner so that you can remove the lid you can remove the jars with a jar lifter! However be sure to put the jars on a towel so there is no sudden temp change!

  • @larrylhall Thanks...is it normal to see bubbles coming from in the bottom/middle of the jar to the top as well???

  • @larrylhall Thanks !

  • @technician775 My pleasure!

  • would you happen to know how many quarts your cooker is id like to purchase one that size

  • @TOW2012 I just bought 20 cases of pint jars at walmart with lids for $5.00 a case!

    Yes it was a deal!

  • @larrylhall I'll be heading to the local Wal-Mart in my area and hope it has the same deal going as the local Wal-Mart where I live is many miles away.

  • @larrylhall Thank ya for the heads up either way bro or sis, which ever the case.

  • @TOW2012 Just bought them this last friday morning!

  • @yahmana Yes that is called a raw pack method in75 minutes fopints you have very tender delicious beef!

  • @yahmana That's what I want to know too.

  • @metallicarocks123 oh nevermind lol, comment below said it does cook it lol

  • Dude love you kitchen

  • @survivaleveryday Thanks! That's my private little kitchen in our metal building my wife did all that for me bless her little heart!!! I can, i dehydrate I prepare for smoking meats in there ! Well it's pretty dang nice!

  • @larrylhall WHAT, that's awesome your wife did that for you..... Can I exchange my wife for yours :) lol. I really need to get something like that. Looks like an excuse to build a little out building :) for me.

  • @survivaleveryday What does your wife look like? Just kidding i think? Yup pretty nice place to work! Thanks! Larry

  • @survivaleveryday ~ Nice video ~

I started canning veggies a few years ago, but haven't tried meat yet.

This looks great, I am definitely going to try this.

Whats your opinion of PRESSURE COOKER Vs OPEN POT BATH?

Whats a reasonable shelf life for canned meat ~ nutrients ~ flavor

  • @StowAlex Hello Stow, I think your question is for LarryHall, but I feel that pressure canning is the way to go for meats and alike, jams I use open pot baths. meat shelf life is 2 to almost 3 years. I think your could push that a little.

  • Hello sir, how do you know when the meat is bad after 4 years? I'm new to canning, does the meat cook in the jars? Sorry but am new to this. Thank you :)

  • @metallicarocks123you want to learn about canning the first thing you want to do is buy a ball blue book canning book! It is the bible when it comes to canning! As far as how long canned foods will keep? Well they found food that was canned In Napoleon's time and it was still good! Food will lose some of it's nutrient value after a few years but if it was properly canned it will last almost indefinitely!! Larry

  • @larrylhall thanks for the info on the book!

  • argh, $40.00!!! now i'm really jealous!! What a steall, er I mean deal. lol. Yup Larry you now got me searching for a bigger better one myself... looking for that deal. Thanks for responding.:) But at the moment i'll just use my 10qt.:)

  • @Mariavasquez48 That's fine at least you are canning that is great!!! Just keep your eyes open and keep looking! Good luck Larry

  • Thanks Larry. Now it's my turn. Must say i'm jealous of your canner. Mine is just a 10 qt. lol. I'm about to can me some beef...cya.

  • @Mariavasquez48 I was a lucky dog bought that from a friend of mine because his wife was scared to use it!! bought it from him for 40 bucks! They sell for 140 bucks!!!! I am happy as a clam!! Larry

  • This video makes me hungry!

  • @louisinhongkong Me too!!!

  • What is the shelf life on the canned beef that you canned? gum1406@hotmail.com

  • @c2morrow1 3-4 years or more!

  • We just use the flat of a butter knife to jiggle the air bubbles out of our jars. Works just fine.

  • @snidelywhiplash Yup that works

  • I remember canning jelly and jam with my mom. Most people today have no idea how to this stuff.

    Thanks for the video.

  • @harleyxxfabco Oh you are so right !!!It is an lost art that we need to bring back! When it is a cold winter night up here in Minnesota and I open up a fresh jar of Strawberry Rhubarb Jam and have some toast with it on and Hot cocoa You are so glad that last

August you made some! That is what life is really all about! Simple pleasures. Larry

  • Are the jars & lids/bands from Wal-Mart made in China?

  • @sewfuntosew11 Don't know does it matter?

  • @larrylhall You see i work there so i get a discount! Why are you anti-walmart? don't understand what your getting at?

  • Thanks,I've been wondering about canning meat.Still don't know how long it will keep??

  • @daveme33 After about 3 years you start to lose some nutrient value but canned foods will keep a long time! Time to start canning you will be glad you did!!! Larry

  • how long do you process quart jars?

  • @pensue37 90 minutes at 15 pounds

  • @larrylhall That pot is dirty!

  • @sherryindera what pot?

  • @sherryindera If you mean the canner no that is not dirty it is just a discolor on the aluiminum!

  • subbed ya! great videos!

  • @ourrepurposedlives Well Thanks glad you liked them!!!

  • Looks good!

  • @ShadeToSun Well thanks!!! Yes it is!!!

  • No, no, no NO! Top with olive oil and Italian spices like my auntie used to do. Heaven on earth!

  • @ShadeToSun That would be good too!!!

  • you lost me at Green Bay

  • Thank you glad you enjoyed the video!

  • Thanks for all the tips.....nothing wrong with adding water to raw pack. I noticed that your work area is immaculate and you seem to really love what you are doing....excellent video. :D

  • Lids are cheap you want to use a new one!

  • Great Video. I'm a beginner After your done with your jar.Can you reuse the lid or is there a special way to inspect it ?

  • @coldpak82 No...don't reuse lids..the seal will be broken.

  • Beef, it's what's for dinner! Thanks for sharing dude. (:

  • if u didn't already learn it the hard way, lol, u DON'T add liquid when u raw pack meat, but definitely do want 2 add seasoning, makes it YUM. smart man! i see so many guys here on yt doin this stuff, its amazing- guess that kinda tells u my age- better late than never!!

  • @wyoladyreb Thanks

  • @wyoladyreb What do you mean by "if u didn't already learn it the hard way, lol, u DON'T add liquid when u raw pack meat"

  • DUDE! Awesome again! :)

I've canned a lot of Diils with the wages mix and a few Bread and Butters. Good idea on the hot pepper. It seems to need a boost, and about 8 quarts of tomatoes. All we bought were the quart jars, just like yours from Wal Mart.

BUT the beef idea is awesome. We've gotta deep freeze don't get me wrong, but if the power goes out you gotta eat it QUICK! ...it's gunna goto waste, if it's not canned. You're *doing* a lot of things I've been meaning to do.

    Keep it coming!

  • @vudumojo i used to freeze a lot of food but i am canning everything just in case of power outage or shtf !!! I brought one of the pints of canned beef that i added the beef base too in the house last night and my grandson almost ate it all!!! he went nuts! yes it does taste awesome. I will be canning pork and whole chicken breasts and lots of ready to eat soups soon!

  • @larrylhall I'll be looking forward to seeing that my friend.

God bless you, you're a big help :)

  • @vudumojo Well thank you!!!

  • Wow! Love your video! How long will the meat last? I read canned beef jerky only last 2 months.

  • @isabstmr Meat canned it done right will last years! you might loose a little after a few years but it beats the heck out of freezing for taste!

  • How does canning beef compare to freezing it?

  • @barfdog54 I prefer canning i used to freeze a lot but never have to worry about freezer burn and if done right will last for years!!! Also i think it tastes better!!! My grandson went nuts tonight when i opened and tried one of the pints of beef i canned!!! He said it was just awesome!!!

  • Larry ,very good video. I have the later model caner like yours and i love it. I didn't like the caner with the gasket. I wish kids in school had to learn how to do a garden and can and dry foods. People just think eat out places will always be there like food stores.

  • @37crackerjack I have learned a lot this year you just have to try it!!! Nothing like eating your own canned food!!!
