If this was live, surely the audience wouldn't have disappeared when she started singing? Compared the live Beyonce speaking and the studio mixed Beyonce that starts singing when the song starts?
@iiAmitx3 both VMA and Roseland are lipped, EXACTLY the same. There was a video with both layered and only the beginning where she talks was different but it was removed, don't know why.
@agators212 Yeah I saw different one but this proofs it too. It was lipped. I didn't believe that at first but I watched that video and the truth is that nobody can sing exactly the same.

@mikeylondon1987 It's not pre-recorded. There are two different mics. At the beginning in the intro she is talking into a Lapel mic (a mic that attaches to your shirt). These mics generally don't filter surrounding sounds (they're omni-directional) so that's why you hear the crowd sounds. Then she grabs the second mic on the stand. This mic is most likely bi-directional and filters out crowd noises (for obvious reasons). So the fade you are hearing is the fade between both mic recordings.

If it was pre-recorded, it wouldn't be a mic rip. It would be a pre-recorded track. Therefore the title needs to be changed. The sound on a pre-recorded track doesn't go into the mic for it to be ripped. It would be a separate file and be outputted to the speakers and the singer would pretend to sing, so ripping from the mic would produce no sound

Whether or not it's pre-recorded it still shows her vocal talent. ALL singers lip sync. Beyonce can't possibly belt out 25 songs for 110+ nights while trying to focus on dancing at the same time. She's only human.
These vocals are pre-recorded. They just go into the studio and breath a lot to make it sound authentic. Then, they sing along to it in the performance. EVERYONE does this from time to time. She may not be singing it live, but the fact that these are just some last minute, one take studio vocals still show that she CAN sing. If you want any more proof of her vocal talent, there are videos all over YouTube of her singing off-stage w/ no microphone and rehearsing.

she's clearly not lip syncing.. you can hear the breaths and the different way she pronounces certain words and adds different stuff that is not on the album track!.. If your familiar with the song and the way she sounds live then you'll know this video is a live vocal.. c'mon now :P
PRE RECORDED means the artist records it in a studio with no edits to make it sound live..with breathing sounds and all..then they either lip to it or sing under it during the performance. I agree with one of the previous comments. Beyonce is absolutely amazing, but why make a competition. Lady Gaga is fantastic because she is a great vocalist, but like any ordinary human being, she has her bad nights. Beyonce has had her share of bad performances. Can we not all enjoy music without saying "well this artist can sing better" or "rock is better than pop." Let's enjoy the music without comparing everyone.
I just don't understand why people can't just enjoy music, why does everything have to be a competition? I enjoy Christina, and Jessie J, and Beyonce, I listen to many other artistes as well. All pop artists have some great and not so great techniques to get to the notes they sing and to get through the phrases they produce. Technically speaking Jennifer Hudson has the best technique when she sings, really pushing from her diaphragm, therefor having a great supported sound.

@Mr27legandary I agree when Jennifer Hudson first came into the spotlight she was more of a raw talent. However I think she tamed her voice really well. Dreamgirls (I know it seems like im almost hurting my case here) demonstrated that she can be big but still have control of it. She has moments in her songs when she hits a ferocity but still manages to keep the sounds at a minimal. I like Beyonce, but I feel like she's always screaming at me(All the SIngle Ladies, Who Run's the World,Telephone)

For me it comes down to technique. Beyonce is first off, a talented vocalist, but I find her technique to be her downfall. When Hudson started, she had the raw talent but didn't know how to control it, and was therefor wrecking her voice. Once she learned how to do that however she started dominating as a singer. A gorgeous, full 3+ octave range, belt control, and perfect pitch just make her the superior vocalist. Beyonce can belt, but she strains which is gonna cause vocal problems.

Beyonce hardly strains and I'm sure that stems from her diaphragm control. When Jennifer hits her upper belted notes she sounds shrill. When you hear Beyonce grunt when she goes higher it's the style of it, she isn't straining. She can hit those upper notes without straining as she has displayed them NUMEROUS times.

She has very little control, no doubt getting better, but no match for B.

@Mr27legandary What are you talking about. 2:39 "love" she goes flat, 3:02 "baby your all i need" is rediciously strained to the point of a scream as she reaches the pass in her voice. All pop artists have some great and not so great techniques to get to the notes they sing and to get through the phrases they produce. Technically speaking Jennifer Hudson has the best technique when she sings, really pushing from her diaphragm, therefor having a great supported sound.

@melikeymakemusic r u forgetting the fact that this is live and that shes not standing on one place (not to mention the woman is pregnant)jeez j hudsons voice comes 2 a point where it gets irritating,she overexaggerate when singing live... if u watch her on idols u would she controlling her voice was one of the main critics she got. i commend her ability 2 blowing a powerful note, but i critic her on the fact that she cant be strong and subtle at the same time. which makes beyonce way better :)

@Mr27legandary I agree when Jennifer Hudson first came into the spotlight she was more of a raw talent. However I think she tamed her voice really well. Dreamgirls (I know it seems like im almost hurting my case here) demonstrated that she can be big but still have control of it. She has moments in her songs when she hits a ferocity but still manages to keep the sounds at a minimal. I like Beyonce, but I feel like she's always screaming at me(All the SIngle Ladies, Who Run's the World,Telephone)

For me it comes down to technique. Beyonce is first off, a talented vocalist, but I find her technique to be her downfall. When Hudson started, she had the raw talent but didn't know how to control it, and was therefor wrecking her voice. Once she learned how to do that however she started dominating as a singer. A gorgeous, full 3+ octave range, belt control, and perfect pitch just make her the superior vocalist. Beyonce can belt, but she strains which is gonna cause vocal problems.

@melikeymakemusic actually. it's the other way around. Have you no heard Jennifer's upper belts? don't tell me they are not strained. Beyonce hardly strains and I'm sure that stems from her diaphragm control. When Jennifer hits her upper belted notes she sounds shrill. When you hear Beyonce grunt when she goes higher it's the style of it, she isn't straining. She can hit those upper notes without straining as she has displayed them NUMEROUS times.

The fact that her voice has only gotten better over time is proof in itself that there is nothing about her technique which is a 'downfall'. Jennifer Hudson on the other hand is the one whose technique should be questioned. There are far too many examples of her in which showcase her screaming at higher registers. She has very little control, no doubt getting better, but no match for B.
