I tried of making one of these (but never got very far) I had planned on using a HDD and the HD advance software thus getting rid of the disc drive.

My idea was to use a HDD out of an ipod, to keep the size down, but I could never get the software to recognize the HDD and using a standard 3.5" driver would have been too bulky.

Maybe you could give it a shot seeing as your clearly very talented at this type of thing.
