  • Cool song but lsd trippin' video.

  • Yep, American idol's Randy Jackson on bass.

  • There videos are so wierd ...its great

  • GOD DAMN THAT BASE LINE D; YO VINE!!! ( i came)

  • Man, If I had a nickel for every woman I tackled that turned into a goat...

  • Most Artistic Band Ever!

  • Tune in next week for another exciting episode of Buck Dharma, paranormal detective!!!!

  • great song i just put it on replay when i work and lol she turns into a goat

  • What does shooting shark mean?

  • I just dedicated this to my brother Anders who passed away at age 46 two weeks ago. He introduced me to Blue Oyster Cult.

  • @PeterRoeder31 : "Shooting Shark" is merely a cryptic title, is my guess.

And for as much as I appreciate the Blue Oyster Cult, I wish they'd made

the synthesizer and processed drum effects a little more cryptic on this

song and the album it's lifted from. Way too 1980s influenced.

  • @PeterRoeder31 Jaws packin heat?

  • Awesome song, but I must say it was poorly edited down in this short form!

  • Ladies and gentelmen, on bass, Mr Randy Jackson. I dig it!

  • This track from underrated album Revolution by Night is proof their is life after Agents of Fortune and further proof that Fire of Unknown Origin was not simply a one trick pony, hey I even enjoy Club Ninja and that is really pushing the boat out lol.

  • I love their videos, I wish they made one for every song I'd watch them all!!! Beautiful imagery I don't always get just like a dream.

  • my song to rolen e thurm

  • Bleah, morw lameass phony drum sound and cheesy synths, the 80's sound sucks!!

  • @kc12112 then go away

  • @kc12112 yeah fuck u 2

  • Guess who is playing bass on this one (I hope no one already said this in the previous comments)? Randy Jackson, the black guy who was a judge on American Idol. If you don't believe it, look it up! Long live BOC, greatest band ever.

  • Buck Dharma its a very good actor!

  • Holy edit Batman!

  • Nice Lizard

  • criminally underrated.

  • @1whokncallthethunder you're right

  • @1whokncallthethunder "I whispered obviously".......

  • THE BIG 80'S.....LOL....

  • does anyone know the bass tabs for this music? :/ i've been trying to find them..

  • They're much better than Pink Floyd!!!

  • I love BÖC songs but don't get their videos at all

  • @SP4LFe

Me, too their videos are weird, and bit creepy!

  • @SP4LFe ...Me too. I think there are hidden meanings behind them. Probably has something to do with Sandy perlman's writings and visions.

    But, I love them!!!

  • BOC jumped the shark with this song

  • this song is really goos! But whats a Shooting Shark?

  • @longhairedpig

I'll answer what a shooting shark is - if you answer me what goos is?

  • @TheRepublicanZombie mispelling...meant to say good...my bad!

  • @longhairedpig

a shooting shark is a Chinese firework (Sha bi Nima de ) that arcs across the sky and filters down giving the image of a shark and it gills...

  • Thanks for posting!, More 80's videos, BOC Rules.

  • I have followed BOC for 3 decades now, and love their music, but,

Buck Dharma throws like a girl at 3:27...lol...

  • 3:44 = Vote for Pedro

  • Anyone see the similar creatures being used in "Shooting Shark"...and Depeche Modes,"In your room"...Years apart but same artistic directions here.Wonder if it was the same director for videos?

  • Buck's vocals are so smooth in this song. The song itself is very nuanced. Love the chorus..... along with everything else!

  • ALL HALE THE CULT!

  • Ahhhh, the 80's...tore many a good band down.

  • I thumbed down this video purely because the whole intro was skipped.

  • I always loved that shot of Buck jumping the girl in the forest, only to have her turn into a goat.

  • This video...song..has been edited.

  • This is a great song. I didn't know it was BOC when I first heard it.

  • WOW... B.O.C. has a bastard child with Miami Sound Machine. Another example of a great 70's band jumping on the sad 80's big overblown sound. NEEDS more COW BELL. P.S. What the fuck is a shooting shark?

  • @tommyboy6267 A shooting shark is WHATEVER Buck and Eric SAY it is! lolz! (it's a metaphore, eh? something so familiar, yet so unknown...)

    BOC rocks!

  • Given the line "Three time I saw the shooting shark lighting up the sky", I'm guessing it's meant to be some kind of astronomical item, such as a constellation, or a comet.

  • I'd kill for a re-mastered version of this tune. It's the 80's equivalent to LDoM...

  • @clubninjarock Right, we still waiting for the remastered CDs, from OYF to Revolution by Night. But well, we had the first three, but still wondering for more !!! BOC is out of reach, out of this earth. Gods...

  • i absolutely love this song i play it everyday

  • Wow, remember when they actually made vidoes????

  • I thought Aldo Nova played bass on this song. Maybe he played guitar.

  • @Cthulu54 Randy Jackson plays bass on this song, Aldo Nova helped write "Take me Away"

  • He co-wrote a song on the album, but not this one.

  • Randy Jackson (American Idol) plays the bass on this track.

  • @RapIsDeadly I knew Aldo Nova was connected with that album in some way or another.

  • I hate pop music. That being said, BOC has had a lot of pop songs, and dammit, there's not ONE BOC I can dislike to the point of not listening to it. Yes, sometimes I'm too embarassed to play a song or two for friends, but most assuredly, I've NEVER hit FF or "next track" when I'm listening...I know every lyric to every song by BOC...I'm proud, mostly:)...My 3rd favorite band, behind Rush and Tool.

  • @bstensland BÖC is right at the top of my favorites. I know most of the lyrics, but I can't match Buck Dharma's guitar licks. He seems to stretch his hand across the fretboard sometimes with that damned lightning fast pinky.

  • @bstensland You're a tool

  • ATTENTION SONY MUSIC--A DVD of Blue Oyster Cult's videos is WAY FRAGGIN' OVERDUE!

  • LSD trip is the song

  • Carlos Casteneda and Tales From The DarkSide in one video, This is what makes B.O.C. so cool.

  • yeah I've got no idea what this is about, but it's still a classic

  • Its about a relationship... that failed four times and the fourth time he had enough. Parallels my last serious relationship... very erriely

  • And nothing else to say...

  • A whole love to nursery rhyme...

  • I still have no clue what this song means, and the video offers no clarification.

  • It's obvious! There's this guy and he meets this old guy at a BBQ but you have to bring your own food. The entertainment is so-so but the old guy does a cool trick with a deep fried head. Well anyway he has to leave because he's late for a date with a goat in a dress but he's pissed when a chick shows up instead. He starts waving a gun and shootin' lamps and shit. All wise hermit shark tells him to ditch the fat biker chick with the nose chain and focus his talents on bird watching.

  • @Manwithjeep You got most of it right but it was a SHEEP in the dress not a goat....Rock on.

  • Wow. Gay guys, plastic sharks and unicorns. Does it get any better or worse than this? I still love the song, I own the album and the cassette!

  • "Oh it's a hard love to love you it takes up all my time

Having you so familiar like past lives and nursery rhymes"

OMFG, I just now learned what Buck was saying............. Holy Shieeet!!! I've got years of memories with this song and I'm just in tears right now....I would play it with my own lyrics, but damn... this is totally blowing my mind away..... Thank you Buck, you are a fucken godammed master of lyrics and of sonofabitchin guitar. I mean that respectively. BOC ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!

  • bass riff killing me

  • me likey

  • 1:59 to 2:09 = WTF? lol

  • Hideous edit

  • i still have no idea what the anthropomorphism is referencing..

  • Interesting factoid...Patti Smith wrote the lyrics to this song.

  • Yeah, she wrote the lyrics for several of their songs--Career of Evil is another well-known example. She was also an early candidate for lead singer before they decided on Eric Bloom.

  • @mabewa apparently, she was "involved" with alan lanier for several years - in the early 70s i spose

  • Buck Dharma waving around a gun all over. Life is good.

  • Ten takes 414 cumshots to his face.

  • Old school. BOC never made it over the top into mainstream like a lot of less talented bands....so what? They R still one of the best ever....& nothin else matters, least of all, what mainstream music lovers like...

  • I think this is the old MTV edit. It's a poor edit at that. Buck Dharma waving around a gun makes up for alot though.

  • brilliant song. typically haunting vocal by buck/donald. and what about that bass??

  • Hey macseinchin, don't know whether your post was in jest or not, but afaik most if not all of the bass track for this song (in the studio, at least) was performed by none other than Randy Jackson of 'American Idol' fame. I dunno, maybe I'm wrong. Believe it or not, dawg...

  • Fair enough. Some of the comments way back here say this, so I believe it. I guess he's in a different league to Joe B, as much as I admire Joe B as a writer and player.

  • Yes, you're right. Randy Jackson on bass

  • i wonder if he sends text messages while he runs the train alone?

  • This is the edit (single) version - 4:20

The album version is 7 minutes plus.

  • I know its are sort of bad but I love this video...so creative and dreamlike I wish they would of made more I bet they would of gotten really good at it

  • BLUE OYSTER CULT is more than a band it is an experience. In the 80's going to high school , coming home listening to any one of their albums loud on the head phones. Was like dying and going to heaven. BOC you are my alter ego.

  • I don't care who laughs at me, BOC was friggin brilliant...too bad this version of the song is edited a little bit

  • I would have laughed at you about 4 year's ago but now I think they are brilliant myself. BOC and Dire Straits are two bands that I seriously underestimated. They are probably my 2 fav's now.

  • checa esto 3times on 3:33 la sgunda vez que dice 3 times on 3:36 la tercera vez que dice 3 times on 3:42 4plus 2 -6 what hapen

  • haha weird huh

  • floridafreedom100 tu comentario es correcto.b.o.c. great band.

  • I didn't realize that Kip from Napolean Dynamite starred in this video. hahaha

I love this song, one of BOC's best.

  • I was thinkin the same LOL.

  • wow 3times on 3.33 was that on purpose??

  • chek 3:33 in boc vid

  • i wonder if they planed that...? very sensatianal.

  • BOC would win in a sword fight with Pink Floyd. But I think it might be because BOC would use real swords and Pink Floyd would use sausages.

  • @skrimpshidy i think pink floyd would use those limp watches in salvador dali's painting

  • @skrimpshidy lmao AWESOME!!!

  • BOC is one of the best bands there ever was and ever will be! music these days ios going downhill

  • The dit of this song doesn't give you everything. Its lost the dreamlike quality. The original version from Buck's independantly produced Cd has these spiraling guitar leads that just drop me to my knees and make me cry.

The lyrics to this song are by Patti Smith. Buck found them in a notebook and used them.

  • BOC was,is such a great band

  • Look at Buck here in the video, and then take a look at the dealer on the cover of Agents of Fortune. A case of life imitating art?

  • hehe this isnt a crazy bass line or anything

  • Anybody have Buck Dharma's "Your Loving Heart" available for upload?

  • Randy Jackson...badass bass guitar!!! This song was after Albert left (drums) mostly drum machine on this. Listen to those bass riffs the second half of the song to the fade.......BADASS F***ing bass playing!!

  • Who played drums in the "Burnin' for You" video?

  • Albert Bouchard, the original guy, later replaced by a roadie who gave the band more of a punch.

  • I hated this song when it first came out but eventually it grew on me. Now I love it.

  • Buck Dharma w/a gun. All is well.

  • 3:33 three times

  • isn't it amazing that he says "3 times" right at 3:33

  • good call on the "3 times" on 3:33 i would not have caught that one

  • and you have 3 hands up on your coment! :O

  • i lost the game lol no one else give him a thumbs up or down it will ruin it!

  • Good call dude. Everything about this jam is amazing...

  • @lanechaffin Choronzon @ 3:33?

  • @lanechaffin That is weird considering this song is shortened from the album version.

  • This is one of my all time favorites. If you like this song check out Perfect Water. While I like Eric Bloom, Buck's vocals are just so much more melodic. I've been a BOC fan forever. If you haven't seen them live, you must.

  • They cut the damn song!

  • In case nobody else has mentioned it, that's American Idol's Randy Jackson playing bass on this song!

  • OK,,at first I didn't believe you. Just did a search and you are correcto!!! I'm a huge BOC fan and never realized he did the bass for this song. Incredible.

  • Yeah, he was a pretty well respected musician in his pre-American Idol days. He played with fusion musicians such as Jean-Luc Ponty and Narada Michael Walden (who also went over to The Dark Side, producing the likes of Whitney Houston).

He also played on Journey's Raised On Radio (the one album of their's I hate) and also on that tour. If you check out the videos for the songs The Girl Can't Help It and I'll Be Alright Without You, that's him playing bass.

  • As well as the band TAXXI

  • Well, there's a name I haven't heard in about 25 years (nor did I expect to hear ever again). I remember seeing a couple of their videos on MTV back in the day.

  • Taxxi? I recall them from a cassette archive of FM radio. I've done many of those!!

  • ah yeah

  • This my fave....goes well with Planet P Why me?

  • I bought that LP! Cool taste!

  • This is almost like a Buck Dharma solo song. Only he appears in the video. Love you Buck, youre the best!:D

  • What a weird video! And I dont like how the song is cut up. The whole structure is changed!

  • my favorite all time blue oyster cult song besides burning for you. but those two albums fire of unknown orgin and revolution by night both the best albums 3rd be agents of fortune

  • Are you nuts? Sorry, RbN is their absolute worst album...but it's still pretty good. Shark is a masterpiece - the rest is just OK. The first three and Spectres are all better than Agents.

  • I disagree. Those are good LPs as well

  • Disagree with what? I know they are good albums. I play the crap out of all of them.

  • BOC changed their music style after their first three albums. You can't really compare the first three with the next three. And then they changed again after Mirrors.

It's hard to say which album(s) were the best...I think ALL of them are great except the last couple.

I got hooked by their first album and have been a huge fan till this day. They're all individual masterpieces.

    Spectres

  • You listened to the "last couple" of albums and think they are less than great? I disagree so hard my back hurts. HF and Curse have some of their best material. D-A-M-A-G-E-D...THAT'S WHAT I AM..

  • No, I disagree 100% that "some of their best material" is on these last two. This just tells me you haven't listened to all their other albums UP to this point. Seriously now.

  • That's what you read into my comment? OK then. Black bears are best then.

  • The last ones? Again I disagree. Dance on Stilts is something I sing all by myself, it's that catchy!!

  • There's one other one that's just as good, a stand out track... However, I've not heard it in a bit, forget the title

  • Good post Spectres but I agree with clubninja that HF is great and Curse is also very good.

  • Reminds me of someone I used to love who listned to this all the time. Hello Vincent if you are out there.

  • Great song, but I never cared for electric drums. BOC used sax on other recordings. Monsters is one song,

  • Extremely UNDER-RATED song!!!

  • lol Buck Dharma is insanely awesome!

who knew a guitar GOD could be a good actor too?!

  • This is seriously one of my favorite bass lines ever, wish i could find the tabs

  • Randy Jackson on bass.

  • nope

  • No, really! Check out the "Revolution By Night" liner notes.

  • Yeah, its him.

  • i just saw em in santa cruz

    thier great

  • Good song, very cheesy video.

  • This is a really good song to cruise around Chicago(Lake Shore Drive, etc.) at 2 in the morning.

  • What is the VIDEO about???

  • no one knows ITS PROVACATIVE

  • Hell, I don't even know what the SONG is about! But I love it!

  • I like his voice. :-)

  • I wish someone would upload Buck Dharma's "Your Loving Heart."

  • Flat Out rules!

  • Looks like the Devil himself made a cameo at 4:14.

  • Edited version of the song.
