@Najo0 having a close look on the lyrics and keep the background of the songwriter (maynard) in mind, this song is a rather optimistic complaint about human nature. as in almost all of maynards songs there is no anti religious message in it. maynard uses to express many ideas by using religious pictures (as most people know those).
different in the famous staind cover, aaron lewis changed a line in his cover version which made the song actually anti religious. choose your version
