  • The comment about EMD no longer making locomotives for passenger use is not true - the F59PHI is still available for the North American market.

  • ooooo that was P42 #112....... :(

  • PUT IT OUT! PUT IT OUT! PUT IT OUT! PUT IT OUT! PUT IT OUT! PUT IT OUT!!!!!

  • Looks to me it was a turbocharger fire. GE turbos are prone to catching on fire. For those who are still whining about bringing the F40s back, if they were to be brought back, they would have to comply with the EPA Tier 2 emissions standard like every other locomotive out there. Besides, they use a lot more fuel and are noisy. The reason these break down all time is that Amtrak can't afford to do proper maintainence on them therefore break downs will continue until they receive proper funds.

  • 112 is my favorite number

  • hey, EMD is NO LONGER MAKING PASSENGER LOCOMOTIVES, THE F40PH IS NOT COMING BACK. EITHER (A) DEAL WITH THE GE PRODUCT, OR (B) CALL MOTIVE POWER AND SEE WHAT THEY CAN DO FOR YA. IT'S OVER GUYS, NO MORE EMD, NO MORE F40, GE MAKES A GOOD PRODUCT, MOTIVE POWER WONT PRODUCE ANYTHING FOR AMTRAK... GE T OVER IT!!!

  • @badboymrpappy WHY DO YOU WRITE LIKE THIS?

  • @beechface1 BECAUSE I CAN... WHY DO PEOPLE LIKE YOURSELF HAVE CONCERNS ABOUT HOW PERSONS WISH TO TYPE. Thank you come again.

  • @hmibus531 lol

  • Why must everything that benefits mankind eventually catch fire?!?!?! WHAT DOES THE UNIVERSE HAVE AGAINST THOSE THINGS?!?!?!

  • What unit #

  • Poor vehicle must be in agonizing pain... I feel very sorry for her.

  • @Train2590 you can't spell gone, and extingusihed, without GE either

  • We lost a north carolina favorite in May of 2010 when 1792 (an NCDOT GP40PH-2) collided with a truck, derailed, and the fuel tank ruptured, which caused a fire.

  • I'll have my GE P-42DC well done please! lol. Awesome footage.

  • @DJGENEX71 Yet another P42GE engine on fire. These Amtrak engines are prone to catch on fire and break down constantly, they are a total nightmare.

Also this was engine 112 that was on fire. I shot this engine an insane amount of times over the years on Amtrak's Coast Starlight. Vids of engine 112 are on my youtube account.

  • lol dam i liked 112, why must the good units go!, 119 got hurt few weeks ago, after i caught it, had a good 3rd Gen and was clean

  • @JgordonAmtrak1 how did 119 get hurt

  • Now I know why I had so a long wait =.= was a very long day
