Charlie Sheen is incredible as a soldier. Clearly has the dicipline to take on the role of a Combat infantryman in the Nam. For instance- 2:36, watch the way he throws up his rifle. The average actor is not like that.

This film was loose;y based off of Oliver Ston's own experiences in the Vietnam War. I believe that the letters that Chris Taylor writes to his grtandmother are actually Oliver's. King, Elias, Barnes, Bunny and all the others are based off of real people.
