@nathangh8 You left these men to die. Brown and the Company Commander and the Battalion has PLENTY of opportunities and EVIDENCE to refuse this mission. They went ahead with it anyway. The Air Force declined, but Brown and others went forward.

Oh, by the way, Walsh did not lay in Ambush and kill Goodrich and Krause. All Walsh was trying to was to save himself and protect his KBR driver. The Army's own investigation bears this out.

It is hard to justify some of the anger seen in most of the comments and I am sure someone will think themselves witty enough to dispell my comment. I have deployed 4 times and have not seen the viollence in my latest three that I saw in OIF 2. To the men and women who served beside me, I thank you for your service and sacrifice. The officer at 4:27 suffered a wound to the face and lost his eye. I was with this unit from 1995-2003. That officer tried to talk me into reenlisting by telling me that it was easy money. That easy money cost him a law enforcement career. I hope the military is compensating him for the loss of his eye and his dream.

It took 4 years and 7+ months to get my 70% disability rating. The VA tried fucking me time and time again but it turned out to be my COngressman's office that got shit done for me.

It's hard for civilians to understand the bureaucracy of the military and all the BS that goes along with it.  Glad you were able to get your disability, no thanks to the VA. The govt. sees all the additional costs of this war with soldiers returning home physically and mentally impaired and they don't want to take responsibility for it. That's an insult to all those who have served.

@TimmyHaag 70% I have a soldier that lost his thumb and some of his sight and he gets 50% consider yourself compensated and blessed. He fought too and was wounded pretty bad doing it and to this day he would go back if asked to serve again. That is called courage, honor and integrity. I get sick of seeing people looking for a handout from the VA and then when they get it they gripe. You have to realize that some one if you look just may have had a little worse than you. I pray for you.

I just found out that they had found Matt Maupin's remains in Iraq on march 30th. I have been praying for his safe return, ever since I found out he was MIA. But now I come to find out he is KIA. I am still thankful that he is coming home some how some way. At least he's at peace now. Please pray for the Maupin family

@OBparamour The facts are Private Walsh defended the convoy and was wounded. Many times the command of this unit had plenty of intell that would have discouraged this route. Prior to entering the 5 mile ambush the Mahdi set up, troops from the 1st Cavalry waved their arms to block their entrance. Wars are fought by imperfect people. People make mistakes but don't dishonor Private Walsh's war record bc on the day it counted, he did his job. Can his "buddies" say the same? Can you?
