  • I feel mentally retarded when this guy talks.

  • and ofc I am looking forward to c the first hybrid, it is there behind the thick thick walls of lying, cause they know that we don´t anymore follow the truth cause its gonna cost some sacrifices as the history quetes, you can laugh at me, like I would be mad, rather I don´t care, but you are not gonna convince me that the future would be without some kind of joke we made in comic books 15 years ago, just to make us c the irony of our disbeleif.... I think we would hit an eaon....

  • as smith says it cannot be stopped.....

  • conspiracy time, so whats else is new, don´t understand you wanna waste your time to fight it, they have the power, knowledge, they can do whatever they like to ya if you come to close, you can do nothing to resist it, some men just wanna see the world in flames.... but they are not entirely men as all would in the end know, they know how to spin things around and they have done it for a long time, even if you took them out of the game, a new set of men would be ready to take over their job

  • treat life like a mmorpg. LOL. Totally agree with your analysis of the media and the pres election, an overall directed movie, seeing it on TV is believing.

  • Always interested in stuff like this that evaluates human behavior in the aggregate. These rules you state have a lot of validity, esp. as there is less pressure brought to bear on the media to perform any kind of informational task. Do you think these are deliberate strategies, or do you think they are considered conventional wisdom, i.e. tried and true principles that have worked before?

It's scary when you realize how little of decision making is rational, how many shortcuts we have.

  • Both

Neutrality trumps objectivity because media outlets know that the former gets better ratings by making more people think it's the latter.

And there are the executives who have a dim idea of what happens to ratings when they run too outrageous a story and somebody starts a letter-writing campaign and advertisers pull out.

And editors, who cherry-pick the rare medical study that goes against conventional wisdom and run an exaggerated front page story saying APPLES (might be) BAD FOR YOU!

  • APPLES MAY BE BAD FOR ME! (sets about throwing away all apples, applesauce, apple pie filling, & books w/ descriptions or pictures of apples).

Neutrality has the additional advantage in these cash starved times of being the cheap option. He said/she said w/ no painful legwork to find out who was right, if anyone.

It's interesting how there is a bandwagon effect, but it seems to apply only to trivial, not important, news. Important stories appear in a couple outlets & then vanish.

  • "Treating life like a mmorpg"?

In Runescape, there's this thing called the "G.E." ("Grand Exchange", not "General Electric") and basically it's a ripoff of Wall Street. Runescape, the items that are the most valuable and the value almost never goes down is stuff that they don't make anymore, like party hats, masks and Santa hats. The same applies for real life. In real life, the items that are not being made are Gold, Silver, Platinum and Real Estate.

Rare items are always a good investment.
