Very Nice Nick, Great minds think... I finished my mill a couple of months ago. Seems to be a similar design to yours with similar "issues" I'm contemplating Rev.2 I have a video clip of mine milling a lapsteel guitar body in 5/4 oak at 20ipm and will post it soon. I have between $1500- $2000 tied up in mine and I did ALL of the machining and welding on it. Hobby CNC controller is working great so far.
O.K Nick...tell us where you got the plans for this beautiful machine. Tell us something more about it. Don't tell us you want to keep it all for yourself and just showed it to us to please yourself.
If you want to build one of these, join cnczone's forum. Thats all people do there and it is huge. I'm halfway through my router. To build a decent 2' x 4' workable area machine, your looking around $2000 and should have some machining or fabrication experience.

I've got mine all put together, but I don't have the software figured out. I have down loaded the recommended software, but now I'm kind of stuck.

h2oreactor 3 years ago
a very neat home made. did you make that router clamp too?
geproks 3 years ago
Yes, I made the router clamp. A lot cheaper
than buying one,
NickMonteleone 3 years ago
too slower
4mulas 3 years ago
Slow.......yes. This is the first programmed
test cut per machine being built. If you need faster.......fast forward.

I have the option to use a plasma cutter with this machine. I am using a router now, by choice.
NickMonteleone 4 years ago
If you can draw it in CAD you can cut it with a CNC, Sheetcam etc automate the g-code programming.

where did you get plans to build your own CNC? Are they readily available? LINKS! WE MUST HAVE LINKS!
theghengiskhan 5 years ago
Home made? That seemed like a precise machine. What's the most expensive part of building your own CNC machine?
fuzzymonkey777 5 years ago
The time it takes to program.
