I think James is pretty good, but I notice a constant lack of emotion and feel in his voice...its just kind of dull. Never really stretches the range of his voice and keeps it pretty well monotone, almost like Ben Stein with a guitar. Dont get me wrong though, he has great tone and im a fan...but I just think he could do better.
James, new cd is great,, jerry douglas is the man, seen him in glasgow transatlantic sessions, truly awsome,,hope you do well mate,, be good to see you in a transatlantic session one day
James has one of those voices with the it factor...you hear it you love it....i came across him about a year ago listening to cover songs on youtube...here he was singing in his kitchen sounding like a star and now here he is singing and playing with some all time greats and doing a fine job.....he will be a star oh yes he will
with the greatest dobro player that's ever lived covering your ass, it's hard to screw up! This is not the type of song James should tackle, he doesnt have the 'push' needed to get it across. Sad, slow ballads... needs to dig into Willie Nelson's 70's catalog for some material.

I had written James a letter some time ago with a song list, I think I sent it twice with the song titles and histories. He never replied. Great voice, good lookin kid, could be a star... but the material will make or break him.
I'd like to hear him do some Keith Urban songs and maybe I Could Not Ask for More by Edwin McCain. This guy is so talented I think he can sing anything.

Well, I don't know who James' dobro player is but, you are right, he is one of the best I have heard. I don't really know what Jerry Douglas looks like ... maybe it's him (?) I don't know. However, I do know a good sound when I hear it. So he (James) made a mistake or two in his performance. So what? If you listen to his homemade videos you might appreciate him more. What a talent.-Ski
