I always get worried when i see people jump A grade!!!! after one of my besties fell off last year and broke her arm i've feared for the others, my sister is only 9 and she jumps A grade and it's scary but she has a good horse and i fully trust her. when i jump A grade i hang on for dear life!!!
@LetsFlyOnceMore Yes, I know, and I am ashamed of that but that was then, Western and English are equal, but it really depends on the individual. I believe in getting results with trust and friendship, some believe push the horse or they'll never learn. I'm sorry I sounded like a B*tch in my last comment, I just don't like people who are like "Oh because I ride with adifferent saddle I'm f-ing better than you"
@LetsFlyOnceMore - Erm, is that aimed at me? I didnt say anything about bits or who invented what. C'mon how about you ague with the right person!! BTW, I dont accept being called a "stupid" Brit very well, thats not terribly nice now is it?! lmao.
Honestly, the American style of riding is western. The english way of riding came from Britian/UK. I think that we should ecept the fact that we are allies and we should be grateful that we have two cool diffrent syles of riding. they were made to share not to fight about. i will not say names but i think it is wrong to call either US or UK olympic teams "bad riders". Lets not forget that they are the best riders in your country and they represent our sports.
Riding in thee snow todayy reminded me of what happened on horse whisperer and then my horse did a little rear with me and i was like please dont slipp bt iits okaii as he tends to do that and the old owner just goes down and he goes down haa i think thats cool love this video soooooo soooo much xx
Lol. I used to jump a little until I gained 100lbs and became a total gaited horse and reining lover. xD
I'm trying to teach my friend to jump. She's really good, but more importantly, she has guts. Her total english riding time wouldn't amount to three hours and she's jumping 3'6". I'm so proud. x'DD
Of course, we're in Alabama, and we jump quarter horses and mules. ._. We're obviously not the best of the best. xDD
Sorry I guess we just have higher equitation standards in North America... I am surprised I am saying that to horse people in Europe, one would think that you guys would have the highest standards. Watch Brianne Goutal ride. She jumps a fuck load higher and sure as shit looks nicer...
Kentuckyboy, sounds like you are ignorant of the fact that Europeans ride a very different style of seat, when they jump the use their knees and upper thighs a great deal more, not so much the lower leg. To assume that the American hunt seat style is the only way to ride sounds embarrassing and arrogant. You should represent our country better than that. Remember that England and other euro countries beat us all the time in show jumping.
@ah1998 And eventing.... and dressage ;) he he. I have think you're right - we have different styles, having been to the US several times and watched show jumping there, you're American version of English is still very different to ours. Neither are better than the other, I'm sure they both have their downfalls and advantages.
@Kentuckyboy101 the thing is, people dont really care what they look like whilst getting over a fence...if a persons riding suits thier horse, why should what they look like really matter, especially in showjumping?just sayinggg:)
@Kentuckyboy101 Oh good grief, higher equitation standards in the USA?! Are you serious?! I've watched many horse events in the US and ride in them all the time here in the UK - trust me your "two point" jumping position is just awful, you guys need to SIT UP for a start! Its called "English" style for a reason, ie. BRITS INVENTED IT so I think we know what we're talking about!
@Storm288 If I could clarify, I think Kentuckyboy101 is referring to specific equitation classes. The UK/Europe/Australia do not have competitions specifically for the American idea of "equitation", meaning just judging the rider's position against a standard. The rest of the world outside the USA does competitions based on skill & execution. And why is the "two-point" position incorrect? It's mostly a way to get up off the horse's back to allow for jumping.
@hidenseeker424 We do actually have "equitation" classes in the UK, but they are usually kept for Pony Club. Its not an American idea. I dislike the "two-point" because it simply seems to involve a lot of leaning forward which doesn't put you in a secure seat if the horse throws in a stop. When I watch videos on here, those in "two-point" fall off straight away but if you sit up, you're far more likely to stay on. I certainly wouldn't fancy doing XC in a non-secure position.
@Storm288 Ah, sorry, a friend from Australia told me that "equitation" classes don't really exist, so I assumed the UK was the same. But in any event, if two-point is being done correctly, it is very secure and balanced. The problem is that YouTube users like the attention they get from videos of them falling, so two-point I'm sure looks stupid. I, for one, haven't fallen off from a run-out or refusal in years; it's more about skill and feeling your horse than position.
@Storm288 Just because you're a Brit doesn't mean you know everything about riding English. I'm not saying he was right, people ride differently everywhere. Depending on where they are is what's right. But don't think just because you're Brits that you know everything there is to know about riding English. Maybe he didn't know that US Huntseat was ridden differently? Some people aren't aware that everyone is taught differently around the world.
@Storm288 Now im not saying that hes right by any means, but 1. Dont call us out on saying we have horrible postion! That position gets us, and our horse over that fence without any danger to either of us. 2. Just because you brits invented it doesnt mean you have the right to say what we're doing is awful.
Like please, we may not have the highest Eq score ever, but we know what were doing.
@Kentuckyboy101 Really? In English style it's all about helping your horse and using your legs, not looking pretty, that's dressage (Which in my view I dislike) and The people that push their horses harder usually get hurt. A f*ck load higher? Please, don't waste your time
@RiverleeStables I think there's some miscommunication. In the US, "equitation" mostly refers to a type of competition in which riders are judged on the way their position, regardless mostly of horse's appearance, measures up to a standard. "Hunters" and "jumpers" are more what you describe, meaning that more emphasis is put on the horse's functionality and skill. And dressage is DEFINITELY not just about looking good, it takes a LOT of finesse and training for the horses to do that!
@Kentuckyboy101 considering americans mostly stay in there two point anyway english sit downa nd really help the horse they push them on who cares what you look like over a fence tbh u cant say anything considring that english riding is from the UK so yer if u wanna go look all poncy go watch some dressage
yeah they're on 12.2s so they must be rough upto the age of 10:) kentucky boy these are bsja riders meanin half of the importance is speed and i dinni kehn why you need to be an arse hole about wee kids:)
Yeah I know that's ok, I used to compete BSJA on a 17.2 when I was 11, right up to a few months ago, I'm 14 now. I'm just saying, the kids on 12.2 ponies can't be over 13 years old... like kids on 14.2's can't be over 16. Once you're on something bigger than 14.2, there's no age limits.
Jezzkuhh, that's a height/weight issue - not age. I'm 21 my pony's only 14hh, and my friend's mom who's perhaps in her 40's or 50's rides a pony who's around 13hh.
I have to agree that I am not that impressed with the riders. They can get around a course on some crazy little Arab X looking ponies that have mad hops. I am a freak for a good leg posistion and all the riders that I just watching in those clips were severely lacking....
their the Elite showjumpers in England of course they can Fucking jump! Leg position is sorta hard whilst jumping that high. you clearly dont know as much as you think...
@Kentuckyboy101 These kids are just that, KIDS. They are riding 12.2hh ponies round 1.15m tracks which is huge for tiny ponies and children! Style doesn't matter in showjumping, its getting round and leaving the rails up which counts.
I love the movie. The jumpers can't jump correctly so they're not very good riders, but I love the movie. Black Beauty is the best movie in the world and is my all time favorite too. =D
Oh .. It's When There 2 lassies were on a hack and then slid down a hill bitty and then a lorry comes and the horse rears up to pretect its rider... They Get hit.. And the riders friend dies and so does the horse :'(... It's Such A Sad Film .. And At 1:57 It shows You How She Gets On with riding With A Prosthetic theg as she had hers taken off And he Horse Went to a horse wisperer x.. Watch The Fil Horse Whisperer To See The Hole Film x
the horse whisperer is one of my fav movies along with all the other horse movies. but that one touched me the most. i have not seen that movie for such a long time. great video though excellent by far the best one.
Amazing vid!!!! It sent shivers down my spine when Black Beauty just went flat out gallop when the chorus came back on again. So fast. I have yet to go at a flat out gallop on my horse. I know she is extremely fast but I have yet to fly away with her.
the most bjutiful thing i have ever seen, i dont know why? but ive cryed when i see that:) its just pure power:) horse and rider, can ur horse go that fast also? ive never done it:) but i will:)
ok now is it just me or in the Black Beauty clip at about 3:18 when they break into a gallop, does his saddle look like it slips back..everytime I watch that seen I think the saddle slips, I dont know, either way I love the vid.
I dont get this video it really good, is it ment to be showing relationsship between horses and dat? Fab Video The horse jess mendoza riding i think it get ready fready looks welll fired up!!!
Thats Jess Mendoza. She is possibly the best 12 year old rider ever yet she always jumps like that. I dont get it she does what you're not meant to do yet she's a great rider. :S
