@S3LFmc Thanks soo much. I have an AA and BS in fashion design and I took a lot of the same courses as graphic designers. Check out my other videos and let me know what you think. :o)
i have a curly hair, and ima bout to get them dread ina couple of months. any tips? im arab, so im light skinned, i have a long thin face. what kind of dreads would you prefer on me? thanks!
@Kfawal Those were locs started with comb twists. Based on what you told me about your hair texture, I would suggest you start with the Backcomb/Interlock method. The bigger your locs are the easier they will lock. See "LYL Photo Gallery"at 6:43 for an example. Keep me updated on your progress & Thanks for watching!!
@locyourlocs omg thats the perfect style for my hair, thank you so much! and yes ill update you on my progress. also i would like to describe too you my hair a little bit for some tips. My hair is very curly and frizzy, every morning my hair is a mess and i HAVE TO WATER IT DOWN to maintenance it and i need something (like a beanie or a hoodie ) to keep my hair down for else it will become all poofy and "jewfro" as people would call it at my school. i wanted to dread my hair after prom, which is
@Kfawal I saw the video of the style locs you're thinking about getting. They look nice but know that the smaller the loc the more work it is to maintain. I suggest you get a consultation with a loctician in your area.
@locyourlocs April 21st and i was wondering what kind of tricks/tips to use on my hair so it wont become all fuzzy and poofy. i do use anti friz when i go to parties. also when i leave my hair to air dry, it poofs up and curls alot on the side, is that good for getting dreads? also when i grabb the front of my hair and pull it down, it reaches to the bottom of my eye, and 2 months from now its gunna be even longer. is that a good length to start off with? im a guy. thanks so much for your time
@Kfawal Check out my "Top 5 Tips Dreadlocks" video, following the tips in there will help. Unfortunately, if your hair is prone to frizziness this will probably be an ongoing issue even when you get locs. When your hair has "locked" you can trim the frizzy ends but it will only be a short term fix. You can use a little locking gel and sit under dryer to smooth it and/or consider interlocking. You also can find a loctician who offers Lock Groomer services (see its YouTube video.
what are the dread locks called @ 2:00, cuz i have a curly hair, and ima bout to get them dread ina couple of months. any tips? im arab, so im light skinned, i have a long thin face. what kind of dreads would you prefer on me? thanks!
i have a question. i clip my locks ends but she also clipped the lock like to get rid of the the faggy strands on the lock, my question is will my lock gett back thick to what they were first before she shave off the fags
@tallbey I'm not sure what you mean by "faggy" but I assume you mean the frizzy, straggly hairs. Its common to frizzy hairs down the length and at the ends of locs. Usually the hair tends to become frizzy again but eventually becomes smoother as a result of palmrolling. Locs can seem smaller after retwisting but puff back up after a few days. Hope I answered your question.
i need help. my locs are thin is dat good or bad. i wanted that professional look. will they thicken up in time or will i have to combine them in the future
@blesdavis It all depends on what you mean by "thin." Are your roots thinning from breakage, are your locs getting more compact/tighter, are they thinner right after retwisting and puff up a few days later, etc? I need more details, or better yet a picture, before I can evaluate the situation. If you're in the Atlanta area, schedule an appointment or stop by my salon on Mondays & Thursdays 4-6pm during walk-in hours for a free consultation. Thanks for watching!
@locyourlocs they not thinning from breakage. when i started then off the lady did them thin. i went to another lady and she said they might be to thin and maybe might fall out in the future cuz the roots cant support the locks.im stressin now cuz i payed and been waitin for 3 months just to hear u dreads are to thin. After i retwist them they puff up a few days later like u said. they look really good i just concern about the width.i can send u a picture if u like.
@blesdavis Are all of your locs too thin or just a few? Without seeing your locs in person I can only make general suggestions b/c locs can be thin for many reasons. Like maybe there were started too small or you have breakage. Send me a close-up pic but I suggest you find yourself a good loctician in your area and get a consultation. If you've only had locs for 3 months your hair hasn't changed a lot since you first started so it makes me wonder if they were just started off too small...
@blesdavis I saw your video and I get what you mean. Here's the thing, your locs were started pretty small & will not puff up to the size you want. Your locs should have been started quadruple the size to give you the look you want. So your options are to love what you have or join them together to create bigger locs. I suggest you love what you have bc they look good. Joining them together is going to be time consuming and/or expensive if done by a pro. Message me if you need help.

ilive in marietta, rite near ur shop. ihave dreads that are different sizes, not a big difference, but its kinda noticeable. if i come to ur shop, can u help wit that?? if not, wat can i do to get them around the same size?
@georgiakid1217 I have walk-in hours Monday & Wednesday 4-6pm so you can stop by for a free consultation. There are several things we can do to make your locs more uniform in size like combining locs, compacting locs to make then smaller, do a loc wrap, etc. It just depends on what works best for your particular situation and your preference.
Check out my new video b/c LYL opened up its own salon! Look forward to seeing you for a consultation and thanks for checking out my videos!!
@abeyah1 Yes, thinning locs can be fixed in a variety of ways: cast wrapping, joining/combining locs, individual extensions, etc. The most important thing is to figure out why it's thinning in the first place. Once we that figure out why we can fix the underlying problem and prevent it from happening in the future. Thanks for watching!
@pandamadness1 Hair shows usually have natural hair or dreadlock hair care classes. Or you can read some books on natural/dreadlock hair care. I'm thinking about a basic dreadlock hair care course. If you took it, what would you want covered in the class?
just a random comment but i love the way you did this video presentation lol.
