Oh my gosh! How I remember watching this beautiful scene way back in 1980. All anyone has to do is watch this and wonder why soap ratings have dropped and so many have been cancelled lately. This scene was so romantic, reminded me of a 1940 movie. I only hope Frank Valentini and Ron C. can save GH because right now it is at it's worst. Bring back the ROMANCE, when are they going to get the message? And please more family ties (the Quartermaines?) and some comedy .
i agree guza sucks .and the soaps suck .i miss those glory days of the heyday of soaps and great acting and real actors and actreesses who cared about their audience and fans and delivering true professional performances.
I love this episode. I got hooked in 1977. Funny—I used to make fun of women getting hooked and crying over soaps. I can really understand now. It is so easy to get caught up in their lives. Luke and Laura were such a special couple. I ended up watching way into the Ice Princess days with Anna and Robert Scorpio. I'm glad I saw GH during it's very best days.
Oh wow what great memories things gives me. I remember this so well. This was one of my favorite scenes. I forgot what month this was. I was 5 or 6 years old when I watched it. I love them so much.
I remember my Mom and I were glued to our chair and so crazy over these two. I can remember the exact day we watched this. We couldn't even talk during these scenes. We were so caught up with their love story and still are to this day. Come Back Genie!!
These two were so beautiful together. It gives me chills to watch this scene. Never before had such a couple made such an impact in Daytime. Thier Love is Eternal no matter how Guza trys to destroy them. For me there is only one supercouple and it's Luke and Laura!!
The glory days of GH and Gloria Monty. I loved Luke and Laura.
GH is unwatchable now.......it is all about the mob. Bob Guza has no respect for Genie, never asked for her to return. There is a core group of actors Guza uses over and over again, and yes, they are mob related.
Man, this is the very beginning of the GH glory days. Right about now is when this thing exploded. I wasn't watching the show at this time, but I can remember how everything just shut down around 2:00 (CDT) when GH was on. How Gloria Monty transformed the show from the bottom of the ratings to a juggernaut fascinates me to this day.
Wow! Hard to believe this was almost 30 years ago!
I remember this as if it was like yesterday, lol!!! I recalled watching this scene in the summer of 1980 (I think it was in late July or early August), everybody was caught up in the Luke & Laura/Frank Smith/Left Handed Boy Hutch/Salley storyline that summer.
This is when GH was really good!!! i lost interest in the show after the Terry Brock/Kevin O'connor murder storyline and have not watched since. I heard the show is awful now.
This is my favorite Luke and Laura scene...it is romantic and magic!--pure fantasy--unseen today I do not know who the Luke on GH is today; in fact, I hate him...he is not the Luke I knew for 30 years. Genie was so gorgeous and we fell in love with Luke not because he was so great but because we began to see him through Laura's (Genie's-) eyes.Reflecting back, I think Genie was the better actor--she made so many of us love Luke.
Well he lives in Amsterdam. So let's see...what possible reason could there be for him to move to Amsterdam........ The best actor, ever, though...daytime/nighttime etc.... The best, period !!! And they are the most romantic couple of all time, and this is the most legendary scene..... no matter what his personal proclivities.
Luke and Laura = the pefrect daytime couple!Anthony Geary looked so handsome and the dress Genie Francis was wearing was beautiful, but she looked absolutely gorgeous.
Incredible. The most glamorous and romantic thing I've ever seen, daytime, nighttime, feature films......never seen anything more romantic than this. Actually what came before this, in the beauty salon, when Luke impersonates "Mr. Robaire" to steal a wig.....gives that woman a haircut....one of the best moments of slapstick ever !!!! And then the shoe salon when they try to sell shoes...and the dressing room with Mannequins. There was a lot more to the department store scenes.
I love this; it's like something straight out of a fairy tale. And it's lightyears more entertaining than what's on Daytime TV nowadays.
Luckily, I have the episode that this came from on DVD. I recently transferred it from what I recorded on VHS tape about 10 years ago when ABC did "A Daytime to Remember" series.
I loved these scenes, I remember watching them when they first aired. I was only 11 but I got drawn in so quickly, Genie & Tony were just magic together.
He always said the right thing to her. She was so bowled over. I love these two. We need an extension scene. I just love that dress. It's in the Smithsonian Institute with his tux, cool huh? Cause her wedding dress go stolen.
Yea i wish i woulda been able to see the great episodes...but i cant other than on here lol im only 19 =( but i still love the storyline and wanna dig deeper into the luke/laura love story and learn more about what happened...its and extraodinary
I've been trying to find out who does this particular instrumental version, also. I've found several sources that say the GH version is done by the Richard Hayman Symphony Orchestra, on their "Evening In Paris" CD. Hope this helps!!
