I just wanted to press louder, than I recognized, that I couldn't anymore! This is genious, to play it not loud, well it is for me, and I don't play the guitar so ^^
@treboryevrah Wonderful, I also heard him play this in person. Also, my brother played it in Carnegie Hall.Would live to be able to play like this myself!.
Watching this has made me figure out I've done this song wrong. In fact, I've done all the music I've played wrong. It's not positions and speed. It's about emotion. This really moved me to tears. I'm amazed at what I could accomplish if I could just add emotion.
@screenname12341 Reading your comment made me smile and feel good. It's great to know that great music can make us realize important things about ourselves, without words even. Emotion and honesty is what great music is all about, technique is improving all the time, and that's great, virtuosos can be a joy, even awesome to listen to, but someone's soul coming through no matter how simple the style can blow you away, well it can for me anyway! All the best with the music! ;)
"Los Romeros" are THE GREAT FAMILY of classical guitar playing. Pepe is one of the brothers. Their guitar playing and technique is just sublime, beautiful.
Just amazing playing! And such a nice man. I had the great pleasure of hanging out with Pepe and his whole extended family (Including the other 3 guitarists who make up Los Romeros) Everyone was so welcoming and open. Guess that is part of why all of their playing is so incredible!
@MrJKTenor The whole family are gentlemen and outgoing as well as being great musicians! that includes pepis son who makes incredible guitars! I really liked meeting pepi, celin, celedonio and angel many years ago at Julius Gidos guitar shop. I didn't meet pepi junior, but I was pleased to have been present recently for a recital by pepi sr. playing every tenth guitar that Pepi Jr. Made, and they were all magnificent !
Thank You for posting this Video and thank You, Mr. Pepe Romero, for playing so wonderful. This is the most beutiful version of this composition, I' ve ever heard. Best regards from Regensburg, Germany!
the fingering style is called tremolo, i have to agree this is probably the hardest style of playing style in classic guitar, especially to make it sound so natural where it sounds like there are 2 guitars being played
"Recuerdos de la Alhambra (translation: Memories of the Alhambra) is a classical guitar piece composed in 1896 by Spanish composer and guitarist Francisco Tárrega[1]. He wrote it in Granada. Additionally, Ruggiero Ricci created an arrangement of this piece for the violin."
All you who writng comments. you seem to be suprised over the skills. This guy is one of the worlds best classic guitarists. It aint that strange that he´s good or should i say god..!

I agree with you on that, i've heard his wife play this (i'm her student, yay me!) and even though she's out of practice it still sounds wonderful. She taught me how to play this (duet version) and says that he plays this very, very, very quickly, normally played lasting over 5 min because lotta people can't play the full single version correctly without mistakes in less than five minutes or something like that.
no, danud321, you are not alone. Pepe's version is one of the best, but I also agree that Yvonne Helkenberg has a brilliant tremolo technique. Just a shame about the quality of the video & sound on her posting though. And if you listen very carefully, she occasionally goes awry with the timing, whereas Pepe maintains a more consistent tempo throughout. Still, they both manage to avoid the infamous 'gallop', and if I could play it as well as either of them, I would be a very happy guitarist.
Iheard it at Mewdelin , my country in apresentation of Mr. Pepe Romero and all the public was captivated by the enormous abbilty and the joy He inspires in all of his performances. We are lloking forward to have him back as soon as possible.
just like in this video, i saw this guy live and he didnt use a mic, it was too quite, it was winter, and everyone in the audience was caughing, it was shitty. good player tho
amazing how his tremelo is seemless between string changes, Ive got it down ok but this guy is amazing, I have been fortunate to have a good friend who knows Celino, a nephew of Pepe's, who was kind enough to show me a few pointers on how to play his song not only accurately , but with emotion and conviction as well!! Awesome video, one of my favorites

narcisso yepes's version races a bit,but the tremelo is compelling, and loud.mr romero fudges a bit
in carrying the trm melody, and misses a few slurs.but plays this more poetically

En mi opinion, el tremolo más limpio es el de John Williams, pero la mejor interpretación de Recuerdos de la Alhambra, sí es la de Pepe Romero.
