Just read something this week by the lead musician behind the O'Brother soundtrack rerelease for the film's 10th anniversary. He said GC did a great job singing but it didn't sound bluegrass enough to pass for the time/style. He also said he's heard him singing and GC could easily have been a professional singer like his aunt as he's got a great voice. So more jazzy sounding than bluegrass. Well there you go!
