We covered Nirvana's "On A Plain" in honor of the 20th anniversary of Nevermind. Please visit our channel and have a listen, and let us know what you think! (video is titled "Chariots On a Plain of Fire". Thanks!
I never appreciated Nirvana for years. Always associated them with the death oh hair metal. With time i realized eithout NirvanA alot of my favorite bands might never evolved.
This cover by Butch is just amazing. i hope je plays in when in Atlanta on Oct 7
i had indie/rock playlist august 2011 playing as i fell asleep. my brain woke me up while this song was playing because it was in complete disbelief and didn't know if it was real or not. Great cover.
Anybody notice the reference to YES in the guitar solo? This is a replica of the Steve Howe solo in the last part of STARSHIP TROOPER on the Yes album.
@Tontonscalp Yup :) Took me a second of racking my brain to work it out. I was confused because I'd just watched Steve Howe cover part of the song with Dream Theater on YouTube.
Excellent job u guys, was cynical at first cos its my favourite nirvana song and was worried you'd make a pigs nuts of it, but u guys left its integrity intact while doing an original cover- very tricky to pull off. Bold, but fucking brilliant.
This is a great fucking cover!!!! Being a huge Nirvana fan, I'd like to say this is a damn good cover and they made it their own. First time I heard these guys was this song, thanks to SPIN I have to admit, but damn. Damn good job Butch, damn good job
nothing is better than the original Nevermind album, but uh, this album and this cover in particular does put a new spin on things. it's pretty good :)
I am a huge Butch fan... But if i didn't like his version i would say so... but i do like it. But i like most of the covers on this tribute album. There are a million Cover bands out there doing all these songs exactly like Nirvana did it every night in a bar near you...no need to record the song the same exact way for a tribute album. I like to hear the artists interpretation of the song... makes it a brand new listen after 20 years.
This literally is the ONLY decent cover on the album. I was really disappointed in both the Meat Puppets and The Vaselines covers. And I don't know how you can possibly make Lounge Act sound like garbage but Jessica Mayfield managed to do it.
@jbgigolo don't worry man. i'm with you. butch walker sucks. "Look at me! I write bullshit, lowest common denominator pop music for both my band and the shitty 'artists' that pollute the radio and television waves, but i try to act like i have indie credibility" That being said, he's a decent musician technically speaking, and doing a glam coven of In Bloom isn't a bad idea. so i'll give it a 5/10.
@mifrecords Well everyone is entitled to their opinion I guess. Even if it’s slightly confused. Mr. Walker writes and produces as his day job (which he is very successful at I might add) to fund his “indie” band. The fact that he has a large following, fills the seats for his live shows and has never had a billboard top 200 hit as a solo artist would make him pretty “indie” if you ask me. Nirvana on the other hand was… and then wasn’t. Unless Geffen is considered Indie
Best cover on the album in my opinion, completely made it their own. Good job lads
