  • good ol tear jerker.... This song has been out for a long time.. Didnt realize Jamey been out that long..

  • This song means so much to me. Almost makes me cry everytime i listen to it.

  • I dedicate this song to my dad because i haven't seen him a lot and i really miss him. It has been really hard on me and i wonder how much money i need to spend some time with him.

  • i love this song!

  • This is an amazing song I wish every song was like this

  • you know you have to be a dad to know what this song means I know that there has has been times my kids would have said this I know there have been times times they wish I had more time for them and you know I wish I had more time because money is not more important than them

  • you relies that a quater and 4 dimes + 35 cents = 1 dollar 25+10+10+10+10+35=100

    preatty damn cool

  • My sons' father chose not to be in their lives, and this song actually make me cry.

  • this video is so cute!!!!!!

  • my daughter asked me why i was spending so much time at the fire house and i told her, daddy had to work so i could afford some presents for her birthday, she asked me not to work on her birthday cause she wanted me to see her open her presents. i almost cried when she said that.

  • i love this song.

  • I know sometimes people can't spend much time with there kids, but this song will remind you why you're chasing that dollar.

  • I Love this song it has GREAT meaning!

  • this song is awesome and it goes good with the video too.

  • This song really hits me hard, I am in the Army and I am on my second tour. My children were alot like the kid in this, unfortunately I had to go. so I made them a promise I was going to be done after this. I actually turned down a really big reelistment bonus because My children are the most important thing in my life, and I made them that promise.

  • @bmacarmy Thank you for serving. Please be safe and come home to those kids and your wife. No gift would ever replace being with them as they grow. You are in my prayers as are your brothers.

  • wow

  • @KMillism 1, I know the feeling all to well, this song makes me cry everytime I hear it and my son is 5 years old now, and his oldest brother I lost him to the state when he was about 4 years old, and I never seen him since, but I am not making the same mistake twice I am trying my best to enjoy every minute I can with my son and daughter.

  • Heard this one while I was living in the States, working a night shift. Had a co-worker that loved this one. Hope you're well, Willis.

  • after 23 years of retail the one thing i tell all these young up and coming bosses is stop living in the store and git that family time. hell i missed my son growing up dont want to see them do that the yankee dollar aint worth it

  • I like this yet I don't like that style of country

  • l love this song

  • new local job search online careerstartshop .info just got an interview

  • my friend is in this video!!

  • I would just like to have a job period. It sucks not having a job. Thank god I don't have a family to support.

  • sort of sad song sort of like "Cats in the Cradle" by Harry Chapin

  • I remember when I was nine and my mom said that my dad told her that every time he heard the song, he thought of me. Now, I'm almost sixteen. Mom is gone. It's still the same with my dad, but I don't think he thinks of me anymore.

  • @rach1and1tiff you know it probably still does. When kids get into their teens it's just a bit harder for dads to communicate their hearts. And the space between you gets so wide you start to think there's no way you'll ever get across it.

  • @shaloneithne I have brothers and sisters that are 21, 19, 14, 12, 9, and 4. He thinks about all of them, but doesn't give me a second glance. I was trying to talk to him today and he even walked out of the room multiple times.

  • i very lovely song that brings a tear to a dads eye, your gonna think about if work really is so important sometimes :)

  • Jamey Johnson: Made in America.

  • jamey johnson is an inspirational singer he is a great singer and song writer i know all his songs and my daddy plays them on the guitar the dollar was the first song i learned and i reminded me of him and me! in color was the first song i learned on the guitar..... they should put more music like jameys on the radio

  • LEAST favorite song of his?!

  • Not many kids know that their mom's had to give their sorry father gas money. Just to get them to come and send time with them. My mom had too.

  • My daddy hasn't talked to me in a year. This song is making me cry.

Subconsciously typed "daddy" as opposed to "dad." Decided to leave it.

  • my husband works over the road as a welder, I can relate so well to this song, I cried the first time I heard it.

  • Ex-Mayor of Smithville, Tn once told me that the one thing he regreted was not spending more time with his kids instead of chasing rhe dollar. The innocence is priceless!

  • my dad never had any thing to do with me

  • @tee757 That'll learn ya.

  • good song but what do you do when your boy lives somwhere else and momma doesnt want you to see him anymore??

  • @sethseverance

There's no answer to that seth. Just be the best person you can be, and your kid(s) will make the right decision down the road.

  • @sethseverance

Just always remember him bro...that's all we can do. I am in the same spot, it's been 7 years since I got to see my boys so I know the pain

  • Just makes all of us fathers sit back and think that we are their role models and I know I will call in to work if my boy is asking of my time! I get choked up listening to this as well! GO DADS be there for ur lil guys or girls;)

  • This song makes me cry every time i here it.

It reminds me of the times when i was little and would wait at the door for my dad to come home from his very frequent business trips.

I'm 16 and i still miss him when he goes away, and i always look forward to him coming home.

  • ALMOST CRIED the first time I heard this song....there must be a BALANCE between work and home!!

  • Awe this song is just cute...

  • my kid told this to his mama and it makes me cry cause i'm hardly there i'm to busy swinging a hammer and going back to school

  • its a good video and song. we all try so damn hard to make sure the loved ones in our lives can have the best life we can give them. sometimes though we forget that the best we can give them is just us and not things.

  • I forgot about this song lol I never knew it was him.

  • This is not a cover, he wrote this song.

  • This song is amazing!!!!! I love it so much!!! At least a daddy came home to see his son!!!!

  • Real songwriting right here !!!!!

  • Brilliant

    Come play in ireland

  • It's odd. But Jamey getting screwed the first time around was a blessing in disguise. I'd rather have the Jamey we have now, than this one. I just hope Jamey can keep it together. He does seem uneasy onstage. I'm not making comparisons, but Waylon was told what to write as well.

  • thank the good lord theres still sum good ole boys out there who know what country really is n keepin it alive thru this hip hop sissy boy band bullshit these new posers have turned it into!! makes me sad for my son to have to grow up in this generation x type country. long live the pioneers of true outlaw southern country!!!!

  • reminds me so much of how it was when i did have a job . worked 100 hr weeks back then never got to see my little boy . now he is eye level.

  • i love this song... :) can't wait to see him in concert in August in Sikeston MO ....

  • i cryed when i heard this...jamy is one hell of a country artist. thank you for putin this up, it made my day

  • Great song!!! Although I must say, I think it's funny how, in the five years since this video and song first came out, Jamey went from being literally a Paul Overstreet wannabe to being the full-fledged bad-ass country outlaw that he is today.

  • George Jones doesn't have to wonder who's gonna fill their shoes. There's plenty of singers who know how to tear your heart out when they sing.

  • i really hope his new album isnt a bull shit record like all new country. i love his music i hope it dont change

  • love this song ! really hit home when I heard it !

  • sends chills down my back

  • love this stuff check out my site waynescountry

  • Jamey's old school, no flash, just da** good songs!

  • I quit a job in the oilfield and took a job with the state. I make about half what I used to but I'm home every night to play with my son and put him in bed. I wouldn't trade that for any amount of money

  • @alittleweird1977 I hear ya! I am in the oil-field and 100k doesn't go far these days anyways. I am thinking of getting out. Don't want my boys to think the same that I am right now! I could of had 2 million dollars and my daddy would have never known:-(

  • @alittleweird1977 thats what makes you the real deal.

  • Quit a job in the oilfield amd took a job for the state. I don't make anywhere near the amount of money I used to make but I'm there every night to tuck my little girl and boy into bed. I wouldn't trade that for any amount of money

  • I drove a truck for years One night I was leaving late to be gone for about 7 or 8 days and my son was just crying his eyes out and clinging to me like it was the last time he would see me. It was all I could do to pull out of that driveway. My son was 4 at the time. I left the house that night and this song came on........I was crying so hard that I had to pull the truck over on the shoulder. I made my decision right there. I quit my job 3 weeks later.

  • @KMillism wow... thats deep

  • this is my favorite jamey song

  • omg me too! i heard it a few years ago and didnt hear it again and never could figure out the name of the song but my searching finally paid off! thats true its NOT often a song sticks to someone like that but i am ohhh so glad it did haha =]

  • I heard this song a few years back and never heard it again... it took me all this time to find it and someone else found it for me! It's not often a song sticks to someone like that, but I'm glad this one did!

  • I have been following Jamey Johnson EVER SINCE this song. This was his first hit. This is one of his best songs I think. I seen him and Rhett Akins about 4 Years ago in Columbus Ohio. It was an Awsome Show. True Jamey Johnson Fans Would Have been following him since this song. Now since "In Color" People are JUST NOW jumping on the band wagon. Thats Bull S&%!

  • i allways loved this song and wandered after it was out why we never heard anything else from this guy after such a great song.

  • I love this song!!!!!!!!!

  • great song kinda sad. he looks better with short hair and the cowboy hat too...

  • @MrBobKnowsBest jamey doesnt even play anything from his first album hardly like this song because nashville forced him to sing things like this

  • ok.

  • Wow ! didnt know jamey sang this song. All i have ever listen to is country and jamey has to be close to the best.

  • This was Jamey's first hit I believe. I remember thinking a couple of years ago when I first heard it, that this guy's voice is REAL country!

  • Holy crap! Jamey sings this song?! I remember hearing this song but I never found out who sang it until today! Jamey Johnson, the most country of all new artists!

  • ya gotta throw Eric Church in the mix as well...few have bucked the system like he has.

  • great song there is only a few REAL COUNTRY SINGERS LEFT GEORGE JONES MERLE HAGGARD GEORGE STRAIT BILL ANDERSON AND THIS MAN JAMEY JOHNSON

  • *cough* *cough* cough* DAVID ALLEN COE. *cough* *cough* *cough*

  • thank you, i've been sayin that since the first time i seen a close-up of jamey, the tight eyes and attitude, need a dna test, that could most definatly be a spawn of DAC.

  • @LittleDog262 you gotta throw justin moore in there. He's gonna be huge in a couple years

  • Real country music..

  • I actually cannot sing along with this song without getting choked up...

  • makes me want to go wake my two little boys up and spend some time with them

  • he wrote this song on the way to gulf shores. he was working in construction and a hurricane had come through down there. he was playin the song around some of his buddys and a project manager heard it. he called a friend of his from college who lived in nashville. shortly there after jamey was blowin up

  • I love this song it makes me smile every single time I watch it.

  • Awesome song!!! I cry everytime I hear it!

  • man this is hard for me to listen to, i get choked up.

  • dam good song

  • SO GOOD! THIS IS REAL COUNTRY MUSIC!

  • Dam good song

  • i looked for this song for so long finally found it i love it

  • These days being a great country singer ain't what it was ten years ago. Nowadays all these singers who do the dips and rolls don't mean squat to me. This is the kind of singer who's emotion is felt.

Singing fancy and doing vocal acrobatics is not what makes a good country artist.

Want good singers in Country music listen to the simple singing styles of George Strait and Alan Jackson.

  • a totaly agre with you!!!

  • exactly the swifts and other pop yahoos are not country. jamey johnson is true country the only new one that has popped up recently.

  • @75630KaraokeStar Amen

and the Highwaymen plus all the good ole timers like Jones,Conway,Hank Sr. & Jr. etc...

  • @75630KaraokeStar check out my site please its waynecountry

  • @75630KaraokeStar does that mean u dont like this??

  • Comment removed

  • @jdj1235492 From my other post>>>>>(This is the kind of singer who's emotion is felt.)

Jamey Johnson is a breath of fresh air among the many so called country singers today who sing rock style vocals or with rock style lyrics and music. Thank God there are some country singers still left. Not many. That is why I rarely listen to country music anymore.

You will notice that Jamey Johnson will have very short lived career. Nashville will think he is too country for COUNTRY MUSIC!!

  • this is an old song this isnt even his song...

  • @proellc

Ever heard of a cover before...jeez.

  • @75630KaraokeStar or in this case between jennings and jones

  • bring tears to a glass eye.
