  • Any Video of William Clarke is Cool, Quality don't even matter when the Videos are Rare, Not alot of Video was shot of Bill, If there is any other people out there with Video, His Widow Jeannette would be happy to have them for all of Bill's Fans to see, Please contact Jeannette if you can Help any Quality is Fine, Bill was always a cool dude, a Gigantiac player with a True Heart & awsome tone. I was happy to bare witness from 1986, to 96, I had seen a minimum of 2 shows a year or more.

  • Jeannette I met your man at club on W Pico c 1 july 94, where he received me kindly. One room over, people were playing pool oblivious of the fact that one of the top 10 bluesmen on the planet was within earshot. I was cool enough not to say anything like that to Mr C. He woulda told me - sometimes, people who dig that are going to want to play pool As for his musicianship: endless re-invention of cross-harp language, and like Sugar ray Norcia, can just keep bearing down. Regards from Scotia

  • go baby go!

  • Walter Jacobs wrote "the original book on Chicago style blues harp." All though there have been many great blues harpist to come after Little Walter, none have added anything significant to "that book." That is until William Clarke came along.

  • How did he know about my finances?

  • is that a wireless mic hes usin, if so does any one know what sort

  • is that a Wireless Mic. He;s using. does anyone know what sort. Swampy

  • Amazing. . .love it. . .there's only one Bill Clarke. Love Alex's playing on here (as with everything he does like with Lester Butler, Tad Robinson, Rod Piazza) and Eddie on drums is just the bomb. Man, that's just awesome american music, right there.

  • @eddieondrums . . .wow, thanks for posting on here, Eddie. I LOVE your playing on Bill's albums and the Lester Butler footage. Are you on the 13 featuring Lester Butler disc or the live Red Devils album? I would love to hear your groove on other stuff, too. I have been listening hard to you and you are an inspiration. Thanks for your music and setting the bar for groove so high for the rest of us!!

  • 10,000 harp players will come and go in future generations. But there will still only

be One Bill Clarke. Comparisons among

the Elite shouldn't even be made. It's in

bad taste...and it tastes bad. ;>0~

  • cheryl IS a fine harmonica player/singer however to declare anyone better to william clarke is not cool you might as well compare me to little walter lol, there room for everyone but most of us are interpreting a style clarke had his own relevant style,

  • I have liked william clarke for years when I was learning harmonica I came across blowing like hell and it opened up a whole new style to me the saxophone like riffs etc then through william clarke I found out about george harmonica smith, great video, thank you, now who is this cheryl arena......

  • William Clarke was one of the all time best harmonica players ever. He is truely missed by all..But mostly by me...

    Jeannette Clakre

  • @jlodovici - my condolences. I mourn his loss - by certainly not like you.

  • @jlodovici You are right, my deep respect to Bill Clarke the coolest harp master in the world. Great singing, unbelievable playing. Greetings from LIMA, PERU

  • I'm sorry Cheryl is good and I don't wish to take anything away from her.

But William Clarke was by far the better player, but I've no doubt she will emulate William one day

  • WTF are you trying to say bbb? Try to learn some english.

  • The first cd I ever bought was when my daughter and I went to bestbuy. I happened to spot "Blowin' Like Hell" and said, "I got to have that!" I didn't even have a cd player yet so we went to my daughter's house to play it. OMG!!! Bill was and is an instant favorite.

  • the best william clarke song ive herd just so powerfull he does not evern need a mike for his harp RIP will

  • since vieweing other clips of william clarke i see that infact he uses a bullet mike what a greatb sound

  • William Clarke was and always will be one on the harp all time greats. Cheryl Arena is good but Mr Clarke would blow her head off. And he isn't copying James Harman...he was his own man with his own style. He is sadly missed.

  • A great tune from the album Serious Business on Alligator records. Truly a desert island disc from amazing musician.

  • Attn:jlodovici! Thank you for posting Bill's stuff on u tube!!! There will never be another William Clarke!! I love his TONE & attack on the harp! I grew up in so. cal & saw Bill in Belmont shores:near Long beach!!!Great guy & willing to share his secrets regarding TONE!! William clarke & Hollywood fats band: the best bands out of so.cal!!! I learned harp from Al Blake(Hollywood Fats P.S. Attn; Gardenlady00... Do you need Q-tips..william Clarke would cut cheryl A. in half with one note!!!!!!!!!

  • Awesome, William Clarke was a powerhouse...wish I could get one tenth of his tone. :(

  • Hi yimrules.

I guess it's a matter of obtaining similar equipment, playing every day (preferably in front of an audience who are enjoying your playing) and having the most elusive element: a feel for The Blues. This isn't a facetious comment, nor am I suggesting you don't have the latter.

What I'm trying to say is - if you want it, go for it!

I wish Mr Clarke was still around to 'blow the back off it'.

It's interesting how the 'live' version differs from the CD version! Just great....

  • you need to see Cheryl Arena play harmonica and sing. Her idol is William Clark but she is so much better !!

  • Took your advice and checked her out-suggest you keep your opinions to yourself in future!

  • Keep your own opinion to yourself in the future. Last I heard it's a free country.

  • You've got to be kidding Cheryl Arena is a decent harp player but not even on the same planet as Clarke. Al Blake, Rod, Harman , Wilson, Hummell, and espically Bharath.

  • Comment removed

  • Dioooosss!!! casi me meo!!! Muy bueno!!!

  • Wow,breathtaking playing, Clarke was an animal, god I wish I had the chance to hear him playing live!!!

  • Yep, he played harmonica backwards. Upside down too. Jeannette Clarke (William's widow)

  • Does he play Harmonica backwards?

  • Is he copying James Harman's vocal style here?

  • William Clarke's wife used to work at AAA in Torrance and when I went in there to get a blues-themed personalized license plate, she helped me and told me to check out her husband's live set coming up that week. WOW! I sat right below him and I thought he was going to ram me with the mike stand. He really got into the music, played forever. We had a beer together and I stayed for the second set. Only after he was gone did I really get into his recordings. What a talent. I miss you WC!

  • one of williams best the best ive ever herd a powerfull harp player

  • The One and Only Mr. Clarke! The Man!

  • Nice harp, but where can I find a good guitar solo, like Hollywood Fats, Ronnie Earl.

  • Willy always put hid everything into it...What a Harp Hero!!!

  • Great stuff. Nice post-Alex guitar work too.

  • yea man he shure cant be replaced ,blow that upsidedown harp
